@@ironbarboxing7509 McCallum gotta be the most complete and skilled fighter i've ever seen. That accuracy, that timing, that body attack, those combinations, that defense, those counters, that ring generalship,... Pure textbook boxing. He even outboxed a prime James Toney, especially in their 2nd fight
I advise all young fighters to watch this fight and see how McCallum uses his jab, hook and uppercut off it and how to parry and block with the right hand. McCallum was such a skillful fighter.
The skill level is amazing from both fighters in this fight, Watson gave an amazing performance against the legend McCallum, who displays the sweet science beautifully . McCallum's first fight against James Toney is one of the greatest displays of boxing you'll see, & Mike was 36yo at the time against one of the greatest counter punchers in James Toney who was a prime 24yo. Great upload. 👍
It's funny how the commentators repeatedly refer to McCallum as an old guy, and seven years later he was fighting Roy Jones Jr. and James Toney. McCallum is one of the all-time greats.
Watson stopped Nigel Benn in his previous fight. He fought Chris Eubanks totally even over 24 rounds until tragically falling to injury. Michael Watson could fight and McCallum owned him.
this just shows you that benn and eubank were a clear level or two below toney, mccallum and roy jones. personally, i think both julian jackson and reggie johnson would have beaten eubank and benn had they fought.
there is a lot of good matchups that could have happened with the 90's middleweights. I would have liked to see Jackson versus Jones, Toney ,Benn or Eubank. I also would have liked to see Toney versus Benn and Eubank and even a young Bernard Hopkins could have gotten in the mix by '93 or '94
McCallum was one of the greatest middle weight champions ever. He destroyed every one in the class.
The one and only Bodysnatcher! Thanks for watching Tom -- please subscribe if you haven't already... :-)
Total masterclass by McCallum. He put a clinic on Watson. Beautiful display of pure boxing skills
You ain't focking kidding!

He wasn't underrated. He as very well respected at the time.
More unknown than under rated. Boxin guys knew him as a force. And Mike is such a class guy. Body Snatcher. Ouch!
@@georgegreig8054but he was far less famous than the big 4 tbh.

Big mike different class . 😇
Total respect 2 both fighters
Watson was a superb technician but just lacked the power at this level. McCallum was a class above.
Mike McCallum who can forget on ITV when he produced that left hook to knock Don Curry out cold.
You were the best sir

The towel should have been thrown in by Watson's corner before the damaging finish
