I used to have a veiled chameleon as a pet a couple of years ago, I gave him everything, a full human being room enclosure, it was awesome...it was huge, and the fucker used to bite the crap out of me and stand the same way as the chameleon does on this video...Oh man, I miss my chameleon, he died of an old age. RIP buddy. Good memories. And off course, I was rooting for the chameleon!

I think the chameleon may have had an advantage. The snake's eyes were milky indicating that it was ready to molt and at the same obscuring its vision. I know the snake doesn't rely totally on its vision but it probably did give it pause to consider what it couldn't clearly see.

This is a boomslang Dispolidus typus. Males are commonly dark olive colour, and the large eye ( In this specimen keratinised before shedding) distinguishes it from a Mamba.

The odds are low. Their ground speed is the pits, and from what I've seen this is a rather fast kind of snake so running away is kinda gonna be difficult. And I rather doubt they have the means to cause any meaningful injuries to something that big and scale-covered to boot so they're probably just delaying the inevitable. There's a reason those guys don't leave the branches without a good cause. Namely if a predator catches them in the open they're pretty much goners. Or "gone for lunch" I suppose...
