Can really understand why the purist were so disappointed with crossover country singers when you listen to Johnny Paycheck. Was really respected by all the big country names.

I was playing drums for DAVID ALLAN COE back in1990 we went into OHIO STATE PRISON & did a show when JOHNNY PAYCHECK was incarcerated at the time, His vacation that he mentioned at start of this video, it something I'll always remember R.I.P. J.P.😁

Us old Ft. Worthians remember when Billy Bob's was Clark's, and later, Cook's department stores. My brother-in-law was a department manager under both.
John, I have cried a million tears or more but they won't bring ya back to me as you'd be here if they would! All the tours we did together, song's we wrote together, sharing a stage together, and our times and the adventures we had just hurt's me worse and I won't ever take off what you gave to me as it's all I have that means anything to me now as I miss you so and will never understand why far too young you had to go, but I hope your now getting the accolades that 16th ave. never seemed to give although you deserved um! I guess I will spend my time like this, as I can see ya having fun! I will say this old world once was so much better place with you in than it will ever be without you! All my love be with you now!
John was one of the very best of FIVE GREAT country singers made. and the other four where his great friends and two of them have gone to meet him in the heaven and the other two will meet up with him soon! Willie and Darrell will meet him again and they will all play and sing for the GOOD LORD and Heaven will be full of country music, real country music. It's amazing that none of the Five where doing business in Nashville. They didn't seem to fit in.........RIP JOHN and will see you someday soon!
Amen to that just like george strait today he6 belongs to the devil he is my husband now and I love him.and want the devil turn him loose before it to late
He was just another one of the best........He let the devil get him for a while , but the Lord forgave him for his mistakes and we have enjoyed one of the greatest and now the good Lord has him in his house and Johnny is singing better that ever. ( RIP )
No doubt, Johnny was one of the top group of five great country singers and the other four where his good friends. Now two of them have now gone up to see John and the other two will see him soon...., and the other two don't live in Nashville. Darrell and Willie sure miss him.....rip John, I was blessed to see his last show and it was as good as ever. I have John in my Library and I listen to him daily . They just don't make anymore like him...

Keith Hunter really sad to say that most people and singers and whatever are only recognized for how good they are when they are gone but not forgotten so sorry sad to say that but it's true thank you for being a paycheck fan just like I am
Jeff Lingelbach hey pal said you were in prison with paycheck was he a pretty good fellow etc.. I'm in wva someone told me he moved here for a while sold cars or something I think he was in the Danville wva area hope to hear from you thanks R.A Beckley wva
Absolutely partner, people always forget David Allan Coe, he’s always left out and under appreciated. He represents so much of what we love about this great country and culture.
LilyLeila, I was at the show that they taped and I have a copy of it and I watch it almost once a month at least. It was as good as it gets. The other great video was at the Ryman and he sang Apartment # 9, man, that was a killer song for him. That was the very best performance of that song, " Just follow, the stair case.".........wow, You should find it on you tube and put that in your library .
Well I rolled into Atlanta... Stolen tag & almost out of gas. I had to get some money... And lately I'd learned how to get it fast. Those neon lights were calling me... Somehow I just had to get downtown... So I reached into the glovebox... Another liquor store went down. CLASSIC COUNTRY MUSIC... CLASSIC COUNTRY SINGER... CLASSIC COUNTRY AT ITS FINEST.
