    We have loads of historical context we like to ignore in the central plains. We DO get dry for consecutive years, not uncommon at all!
    It does suck when it happens but far from unusual, there was a stretch from 2010-2012 also very dry in my area.
    Also, Dust bowl era and then very dry in 50s and also early 80s for a few years each. Suck it up buttercup! It will get better!

    Pretty odd that we are getting our (Western NC) disorganized, barely-tropical storm in September and not June or July, but I'll take the rain either way!

    2 tenths of rain, none in the forcast, and hot weather. June planted beans have given up. Pods are half full and the beans that are there will be extremely small. All of the earlier planted beans look really good. Thanks to my seed supplier for not getting me my seed timely.

    I feel like the weather here in mid-eastern Missouri has been stuck and the same for the past 2.5 months now. Way past the point of being old..

    Do you still have that sliding 5-day temperature that goes out 2-3 weeks that you can show? I liked that one a lot because it showed the rough trends out further than the 7 day slider. Thanks!

      that animation went out 10-days and was from weathermodels.com it's not a free website. but you can find something similar on tropical tidbits. www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/models/?model=eps®ion=us&pkg=T2maMean&runtime=2024091600&fh=12

    No precipitation for SE Kansas BIG surprise. This is not “lately” this is 3.5 years of rain missing us. What gives?? Are we cursed? Is it climate change? Is it wind farms? This changing life in our area. There is no more helpless feeling than waiting for rains that rarely come. Are we EVER going to reach our historical average for annual rainfall again? We are 16” away from 42” of rain, and this the best year we’ve had in 3 years. It’s infuriating and causing depression for people here. And I’m not referring to meteorological depression. How do we always miss the good rain by mere miles????

      There's a long standing reason, since the original sod was broke, why farmland doesn't cost $20k an acre and raise 250+ bu/ac corn in Kansas...lack of precipitation.

    • @JamesRegis-g9j
      @JamesRegis-g9j 2 дні тому +1

      @@M8Stealth Sorry, you're wrong. The reason hasn't been rainfall in SE Kansas; the reason for less production is much less depth of topsoil. We have averaged 41-43" of rain since the recording of precipitation began. Not all of Kansas looks like Dodge City; it might get that way though. And if it does, the corn belt will be next.

      @@JamesRegis-g9j It seems year after year from South east Kansas to South east Missouri tends to be dry year after year. Seems to be getting worse. I could remember when the weather was variable not stuck as it has been for the last 4 yrs. Getting old actually. Hopefully the pattern will change in our favor and kick the dry out.

      My beans are toast here too, thought the one decent August rain would help fill but these are shrivelled half filled out beans and our yields here have been hammered.
      Corn did pretty well considering

    This pattern is not good for my area. More doo doo brown colors on precip. Francine didn't give much here in the Eastern Ozarks . Every year Eric always dry here. Getting old year after year.
