Enjoyed this. I will say never buy a kayak because someone told you to, never pass on a kayak because somebody told you to. We’re all different. I’ve owned over 50 kayaks. Some I love others hate, some I hate others love. Try before you buy. No one else can tell you what is the best kayak for you.
Great reviews, I have the old town 106 and for me I love the forward facing rod holder of the left. I am right handed but it happens to Work out for me.
Old Town is old design 😂😂 so true about them. They did that with that electric pedal drive 😂😂. I had the pdl 106, and it was ok, not great for the big Detroit River, but ok. If I get another kayak, I will go with brand Bonafide.
I hope nucanoe listens to there consumers about the lack of durability. I've been wanting to purchase an unlimited bad but after using a friend's multiple times I haven't made the purchase for too the durability of the very thin plastic. It's made me direct my rite more towards Jackson's cossa x
Love the new rating system. I am sure I have not seen all of your videos, but have never heard you mention the Nucanoe Flint. I stumbled on a sale and got one for 40% off retail. Could not be happier! I fish mostly by myself and at 65lbs I can totally handle it. Most of the Nucanoe accessories fit it, and I've also added a Bixby and an Anchor Wizard. Have yet to drill a hole. Would love to hear your guys thoughts.
@aaanglers Would love to meet you guys some time. I just moved to MI in Sept. Bought a house on a lake with no public access. Phenomenal fishing - especially gills.
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it and agree with most of your ratings. Personally I would give the shoalie a better value score. Probably a 4. If you are going to river fish paddle only I think it is pretty much ready to go other than an anchor wizard. You can easily lay two or 3 rods on the deck and have two low mounted sticking out the back. The front handle/drag rope is a great design (at least until you stick a jerk bait in it).
I LOVE my shoalie. It’s made me put my Slayer Max 10 on the side. 2024 I racked up about 100 miles. 2025 I’m planning on doing 1000 miles of rivers. My favorite feature is the drag strap. Super overlooked until you need it. The worst feature I feel like is the tackle storage near the seat. The shoalie has made me love fishing again and not just “go to work”
I really like this video and your explanation of scores. You could break performance into two categories. Hull efficiency (how easy it paddles, pedals, or motors) and stability.
Thanx for what you guys do Ive always loved being out on the water I broke the bank to buy a aluminum bass boat a few years ago but as gas gets higher and my family grew larger I find myself using a kayak more and more your videos allowed me to solidify my decision on the u10 here In the near future…..hopefully Xmas 🤞
I have the old town 132 pdl And my brother in law has the 120 pdl. So the 132pdl is a bit less stable but in big open water or when waves crash over the front the extra 1ft puts less water in the yak. When fishing next to bridges I think being able to swing around is easier on the 120. As far as carrying the 132pdl is actually easier to carry even though it’s heavier due to the front handle being molded in. The biggest changes that we need up here in the north east is. I would like to see a front hatch like the hobie has to use as a cooler, a plastic insert that drops in. Another thing that all kayaks need to start doing is making room in the middle of the kayak for a battery…. What I mean is a big enough hole in the Middle of the kayak to fit a 100amp our battery. Somewhere to keep it protected… So many people are running 100ah batteries it’s ridiculous none of them have it. Old town makes a small compartment behind the seat I wish they opened it up enough to put the battery in there. Putting the battery in the front hatch just weighs the kayak down forcing all of us to put them in the back exposed to the elements.
Great kayak reviews and yes would love to see an inflatable kayaks review as well, especially for this design Osprey inflatable12936 Kayak and your thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Tight lines take care and God bless!
I owned an Osprey 1436 and it was awesome for what it’s designed for. Great river kayak. If mostly lake fishing it is fine but would not be my first choice. Unmatched primary stability and if you had to it’s not horrible to paddle. That’s not true for most kayaks with great stability.
Thanks for doing the video! On the native titan x does standing water occur in the cockpit? I have an old town sportsman pdl 120 now and it’s pretty dry for the most part. Thanks for any info
@@paulglass7268 on my old town I run without any plugs and water will come in when I’m moving but it flushes out instantly when I stop. It’s a great kayak but I’m looking to upgrade. I love all the features on the native especially the seat! I don’t wanna be standing in water all day though. I noticed it on Greg Blanchards videos he seems to have some water in the cockpit
@@paulglass7268 I wish nucanoe would offer a different pdl system because my favorite is to have pedals and my nk 180. When I’m running banks I like to just control myself with the pedals plus it’s quiet. That open deck on the nucanoe looks so sick. Thanks for all the info!
I’ve had two Natives - Slayer Max 10 and have the new Titan X 10. I do not understand all the people who continue to say they have water in the cockpit. I’m 6’3” 250 and both have been bone dry.
And I don't understand how people DON'T have water in the cockpit. Seems like it's a 50/50 shot. That is the issue. I used the included scupper plugs, got water in the cockpit. Modified them with scupper valves, got water in the cockpit. Then bought expensive scupper valves... and got water in the cockpit. So... that's weird.
I should also add - I also currently own an Old Town PDL 106 in large part based on Paul’s continued positive talk about it (still salty he sold his). Having said that you are correct - its value compared to the Native Titan X 10 is not great. Thankfully I was able to get a deal on mine. VERY happy with it
There is some deck flex when you are over 220 lbs. Not sure how bad it gets at higher weights. More of a squish than a full flex that could damage the hull.
The worst video ever. Everything you said is untrue and not right. All specs were wrong. Only playing. I have to get you upset first before saying good video. I became a Nucanoe dealer because of the unlimited possibilities. But yes they can add up. Like I say I am still a minimalist on mine but still at the 7k mark invested. Catch you guys soon. But once again horrible video😂😂. Have a Merry Christmas
What was the BEST kayak you used or saw this year?

Big win!
I absolutely love my pdl106. It's even better for me because I got mine on sale, new, for $1500 out the door. Insane value.
That is awesome!
I love my old town 120 PDL but i had to do several improvements right out of the box to make it more comfortable and functional but still a great yak
great content, only new yak for me was hobie lynx. got it used so it was an ok value. great throw and go but you have to protect it.
I love my ole town sportsman PDL 106.. for me it’s easy transfer in my pickup
Great video gentlemen thanks for doing this one. Planning on picking up the U10 for next season glad you guys included it.
Great review methods! I always agree with using 5 point score system where 3/5 still means good.
Use gravity but, drop a string (with weight) in the front and tip it back, tie the cable to the sting and pull it back. :)
Great video! I have the 106mk and after one season love it.
I love my Hobie Outback. I do a little upgrading each year and it has treated me well. Added a bixpy motor this year so I can cover a lot more water.
Yall need to add weight rating to the list great information on the kayaks thank you guys

I have the Anchor wizard plate and used little longer screws and still put the handle back on. Also, I stand in mine all the time with no problem.
You can stand in it, but we are spoiled by far more stable kayaks. It’s just not the same.

I really like this video and your explanation of scores. You could break performance into two categories. Hull efficiency (how easy it paddles, pedals, or motors) and stability.
We could consider expanding on each area. Trying to keep ratings simple and not overcomplicate the process.
Add angler size {height and weight} plus open water versus weeds would also be helpful; minimally as optional notes / things to consider.

Nobody sells Feel Free around us, and we have never seen them at ICAST. We would have to get to know them to get into some of their products.

Would love to review it if we could find one to demo.
Do an inflatables rating! You guys had one this summer that in the spring I am seriously considering buying!
Hi guys, what kind of keel guards do you guys use?
Berley pro
@@aaanglers Looks like they don't sell one that fits the NuCanoe?
They do, we have it. Check berley pro bumper bro unlimited on google

I used the same scuppers they provided. That is damn weird as I’m guessing we are around the same size (if you added a tire) 😂
Wouldve been nice if you guys had blow up pic of some of the highlights yall explained.
Next time we will need more B roll. Surprisingly limited content available on google.
With the softer plastic of the Nucanoe have you had any issues with deck flex?
Nope, just scratches

have u guys ever used a hobie compass, im curious as to what your thoughts are
Hobie PA 12 2025 model all the ways.
You should note that none of these are the worse kayaks you can buy. All of them are good kayaks if you know what you’re getting.
For sure, all great options
Yes, that why we said, “that we used”. We also called that out for crescent and mentioned it was for anglers and based on how we fished
nice
I would be interested in the inflatables, but I'm definitely the minority.
We’ll do one for sure
you didn't include any bonafides. what happened?
We didn’t have any for more than a few hours this season
We never owned a bonafide. These are kayaks we owned
