My next time around in life I'm going to do so many things that I love. I got a little detoured of drugs and alcohol could I've been clean and sober for many many years. It's just getting caught back up with the rest of the world that's difficult. You inspire me everyday. Thanks for being such cool people and for sharing your love with these amazing animals. My horse Dash - died from having colic and we weren't able to keep him from getting down and rolling and he died of Twisted gut. The minute you started talking about that I knew exactly what you were talking about. I was a little girl, this was in the 60s. But it was devastating to see an animal in such pain and not be able to do anything for him. Horses kick themselves in their stomachs it hurts so bad and all you can do is try to keep them from getting down and rolling and we unfortunately we're not able to do that and he died with his head in my lap. he was my very first horse and I was just devastated. One would think that we had come so much further medicinally and medically for horses but it's the same to this day. There is no medication no injection or anything you can do to prevent a horse's gut from twisting, except to keep them upright and let them go through the pain many survive if caught. Most horses just bolt and start running. They get a burst of adrenaline and they can literally crash through gates and fences and barbed wire. I chased him forever it felt like. I'm so happy hearing you were able to help your tortoise.
