- Jason Abels is one of those reptile keepers that goes above and beyond when it comes to his tortoises and the proof is in the fact that he raises the most beautiful radiated tortoises I've ever seen and he is also one of the very few people in the United States who successfully breeds Galapagos tortoises! This is the place for serious reptile lovers! We have tons of expert info on pet lizards, habitat, snakes, turtles, sulcata tortoises, terrapin, crocodiles, alligators and all sorts of scaly & misunderstood creatures in Florida. We also love to learn from other animal experts who are happy to share knowledge about pets. That’s what Kamp Kenan is all about. We love reptiles & science and we know you do too. This is why we do what we do. Animal conservation in the modern world matters, we're out there living it and doing it every day. This is real life, these stories are real, and our sole purpose is education in action for you so that you can learn something new every day and one day perhaps get involved yourself. It's that simple.
Let's create a new generation of educated reptile keepers & animal enthusiasts by spreading the love!
Dude the way they walk up to everyone is so adorable!! They are like giant slow dogs lmao
When Spike got a close up, he reminded me of the giant tortoise from Neverending Story.
Morla the Ancient One: We havent spoken to anyone for thousands of years....so we started talking to ourselves **ACHOOOO** 😂😂
@@Fizzybuzz *l we fr e.g. t.c
When Galaps get big like Darwin they remind me of Morla - I think it's the round heads, like a little old man, that they have im comparison to other breeds like Sulcatas. It's so frickin adorable! 😍
Best movie ever
Morla the Ancient One
The radiated tortoises are gorgeous. The lemur was beautiful but I feel that she will do better in the larger facility. The baby Galapagos are absolutely adorable as are the big guys. So sweet. Really nice man who really cares about his animals.
Was very puzzled by the lemur too. Guy very sensible (and successful!) with the endangered tortoises; but starts a rant about 'Big Bureaucrazy' crushing `The Dream` then proceeds in giving all the reasons why these lemurs should be under a single globally-organized programme, to stand a sliver of a less-inbred survival chance as a species. I understand the business case (`turnstyle animal`) but some ringtailed lemurs will do for that.
Amazing animals. Sad to think they will all be extinct soon just so some rich guy can get richer.
He also said he was giving them to a zoo with a 200 x 200' enclosure for them.
They are in a tiny cage!
@M Lucas Agreed. I do also. Australia makes it a bit easier with only reusable plastic bag from most stores and now we are getting more paper straws in at food shops.
*i love how Chandler behave in this video, he's like: "nod" "nod" as if he's not the same Chandler that used to play with venomous snakes 😂😂😂*

I’ve never seen a “low-key, quiet” Chandler. Maybe it’s his doppelgänger...
Whoa
Chandler in the background patting the tortoises 🤣
This reminded me of when I was young and we had our trio of California Desert Tortoises (they are endangered, but can be kept legally with a permit, which we did have). We had a big enclosed planter that we set up for them outside with shelters and hides. We didn't give them heat, as they are native to our region (and thus the ambient climate) and were allowed to brumate naturally overwinter in the burrows they dug, but we tried to recreate a habitat for them. They were much beloved by me and all my siblings. ❤
Kenan this was BRILLANT! TOTALLY OBESSED WITH THE KNOWLEDGE!!!
I love when he visits other conservation nuts to do videos because between them there's always huge amounts of knowledge. Even when he visits Fred we always get some nuggets of information 😂
Chandler is like your new best friend. The two of you do well together.
Chandler is a funny guy, I also like his channel
Facts
Perfect duo :)
I thought he had a son named Chandler the whole time, he seemed like a 17 year old 🤣 That's Chandler from Chandler's Wild Life and it all makes sense! He's an old soul and a young spirit. 😊 Way to not steal the spotlight, like at all. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That’s the first time I’ve ever seen Chandler quiet.
Ha. I was about to comment the same.
Yooo I comented the same
In the company of wise ones, grasshopper will be silent.
I love how this guy doesn't interrupt every second and lets the owners speak a out their passion, interested in more of his videos
Lord_ DiMiTri_ it’s funny you say that because there’s 50 other comments saying Kenan doesn’t let Jason talk. Lol
I just love these tortoises!!!! They are magical creatures.
I've never seen anything like those "Radiated Turtles" they're incredible! Geez, they look really good wandering in the garden. What a great enclosure/habitat, you certainly care for their wellbeing. Great video.
And those big tortoises are very impressive.
I totally love it when all my fave animal people get together!! Also love all of those tortoises 🐢 😍
The idiots in this world that don’t care about conservation and the preserving of species is maddening. Just look at these beautiful animals!! Thank you so much, Kenan. This was amazing!🐢❤️🐢
beautiful comment! Greed will be the eventual demise of humanity. That might be a good thing for the remaining animal and plant life. It's so sad we can't live in peace with nature.
Idk, I've had dealings with primates and I could not find a zoo that would ever take them (even a ring-tailed lemur). My area zoo had to quarantine the ape that they obtained for a single gibbon, for quite a while. They have reasons why they don't accept animals from unknown sources. All the primates end up in sanctuaries (if lucky). Primarily primates in TX was one of the ones I used, but I heard that they had issues. As long as the apes and monkeys are okay, I didn't care about the funding or where it was going.
Much love to Mr. Abels for letting you share his wonderful animals with us. Thank you! Thank you both.
Thank you too! Jason rules!
Ok, the baby G’s literally made me tear up! So beautiful! Y’all are living my dream life! 🥰🌴💚💚💚
Holy Crap! That's the quietest I've ever seen Chandler. You'll have to teach Ruth how to do that, it could be a useful skill for her.
This is a really good video. I'm happy Kenan is giving guidance to Chandler ... as a conservationist and not just a youtuber. Good for Chandler for growing and continuing to learn.
Lol chandler just sitting back with a big smile 🤣
I just received my juvenile chameleon and he is exactly what I ordered. I loved him at first site. Customer service was awesome. I love underground reptiles and will order again. Not everybody has a bad experience..
You guys are absolutely amazing! Great job taking great care of those beautiful animals.
Those radiated are insane!
9:23 "There's 4.8 adults in here right now"
What did he just say??? lmao
Thought I was the only one who heard that
I just commented the same shit wtf he mean ? Almost 5 lol
It means 4 males and 8 females 👍
4 males and 8 females
I noticed that also...until he said he converted one tortoise
Awesome to know there’s good people being stewards for these majestic animals. Thank you for sharing your kindness.
hey, Kenan. i'm a forty two year old fellow lifelong keeper from Pittsburgh. just wanted to say that i love your channel...it is the best animal content program available (okay-NERD and Clint maybe have you in a tie). thanks and keep on doing what you do, brother!
I love that chandlers in the videos he’s and he’s awesome
Nice to see people stay with their passion. When I was a kid in the 60ies and 70ies I was an avid collector of reptiles and amphibians of Pennsylvania near Philadelphia. Whenever I was asked what I wanted to be the reply was a herpetologist and nobody new what that was. I was a accused of being a little strange had no idea so many people had this passion. Wish the internet existed than and you guys are the best for sticking with your passion into adulthood.
Those tortoises are just stunningly gorgeous, all of tthem. What beautiful animals, really.
I've never seen Chandler so quiet! Lol. I love you guys
We need more Jason Abels in this world.
Why would you wish that on unlucky animals?
When I see those big tortoises I keep thinking of "Morla the Ancient One" (Giant Tortoise) from the NeverEnding Story, when she sneezes on Atreyu! :)
Jason Abel is a cool guy and its awesome the studies he allows his animals to go through for the sake of conservation
Having been to the Galapagos Islands, I find it so cool to see these guys up close! On the islands, you couldn't get within 6 ft of the animals so that the animals can't get used to humans and be as natural as possible.
Hey Chandler lookin good kid 😜 👍looks like he's trying to keep quiet which is hard for him to do he is so educational just like you! ❤️🌴
Haha I was thinking the same thing, just creepin' in the background
lol i was about to type anyone else notice chandler?
Hes taking in the 👌 awesomnes
Oh my I love all those turtles
I love seeing tours of peoples yards and facilities to get ideas. Helps me learn things I could do with my own yard for my channel! So awesome!
Hi Kenan Thanks for filming your friend's tortoise's collection. Those radiated tortoise were so beautiful. He has such a awesome area for them all. It's fantastic that they are breeding to expand his collection. Because so many are becoming endangered. Chandler was so quiet.Your video was excellent . You both love, and and share such important information on tortoise's. 🐢🐢🐢🐢❤️ Kate had a fun time to. Cindy
Such a great video for tortoise lovers
Dude, you’re living my best life.
I think we should get Kenan to get Greg Whitstock (Greg the Pond Guy) and the Aquascapes team to build Jason and his animals a beautiful rec pond. He clearly loves these animals and does a ton for conservation and he did say he is super jealous of Kenan's ponds! Get him his own!
Those are the most amazing tortoises I have ever seen. I want one someday
What beautiful eyes Spike has...thank you for sharing this
The baby Galapagos tortoise are profound. The fact these tiny creatures will still be alive long after all of us looking at it today are dust just amazes me.
I LOVE how ask! "May I enter?", "Can I pick one up?"
So few people are that considerate.
Sweet show thank you for the awesome video. My wife and i have found two desert turtles at our frt door and have kept them for years now and we love them. They were left in our neighbor hood and had pait on them like some one marked them seeing if they come back. The must have been caged from beginning cause they had lil survival skill. We made a nice area for them and been loving them ever since
WOW! she is very talented with her hand...please do another video of her petting the tortoise's neck with her feet!!!
We all nerded out with you guys in this video. Wow, Galapagos hatchlings! And Spike made a grand entrance. By the way, thank you for setting a good example on social distancing and helping to crush this curve. Anyway, that was sheer fun.
I'd be in heaven, visiting a place like this. Absolutely beautiful creatures!😊
Wow, that is some beautiful terrain....... unreal........I've never seen a large radiated. Those bi-colored radiated are by far the most beautiful tortoises I've ever seen.
Beautiful tortoise? at the start, love the shell patterns. Thank you sir for taking care of these beautiful animals 💙
When he said I think they have some kind of ground penetrating radar, I started to laugh and was thinking, yeah right. But the more I thought about it, the more I thought he may actually be onto something. Great video, they are all beautiful creatures. I have a turtle too, it is only a red eared slider but we love her non the less. She has been part of the family for past 16 years.
14:30, this is why young tortoises that can brumate naturally are able to brumate. Russian tortoise eggs laid in spring may hatch in fall but the hatchlings emerge later next spring(the same can be said for the summer eggs laid after estivation). This is just anecdotal evidence and logic I pieced together, but someone should definitely confirm this with an experiment and make it known in the temperate tortoise community!
The Torts with the beautiful sun burst design in the shell are really beautiful
Never knew I liked tortoise's so much until I started watching your channel. Great stuff and love all the knowledge! They seem very happy and well taken care of!👍
Every time I see Kenan’s beard I get more jealous! And that mustache is absolutely insane!
"We can't hug"
Funnily enough the G7 can, the Met Gala, Grammies, politicians behind the scenes...all if them can have super spreader events, hug & kiss.
At 21:46 idk what came over me but I almost teared LOL, I cant believe how huge this creature is and how beautiful
He's the King but the one behind him was way more stylish...beautiful face and good coloured eyes.
Firstly Kate is doing awesome with the animals! Secondly i still cant believe how much i learn from your videos! Thanks Kenan!
Credo che hai l allevamento più unico al mondo ... Complimenti davvero !!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing people doing amazing work. Thank you for your efforts
I have never seen your channel before, but I like to watch a lot of videos like this on animals and fish ect. Just discovered you but totally subscribed - you clearly have an amazing amount of knowledge about these animals and care about their habitat ❤️ love it
I got so excited when I saw spike. I really enjoyed this video!
Ordinarily when I see stuff like this my first inclination is to say "not a pet" and scold the owner... but these dudes get it. They are doing good for the animals. Stellar stuff suckahs!
Thanks Zach. We try to show only the best people out there, doing it right!
I'm just curious so that is your first inclination generally..so then what do you say when you learn ( from me) or anyone that so many many animals are near extinction or will be soon? You still give a S*** about animals as pets when so many are being brushed to extinction. Seems like such a lazy bs attitude to campgiht against wild animals as pets when fact of matter all over the world we are and have pushed so many species to extinction and few even talk about that.
Love the dynamic you two have with all of the knowledge, keep educating in a fun and interactive way!!!
Those first turtles shells are gorgeous
Absolutely fantastic vid, thanks for taking us on your visit! 😊 Kim in New Zealand
I love the three jays tortoise sanctuary!
im so glad chandler is hanging around guys like you who love your animals and take care of them as much as chandler does with his! this is such a bromance just waiting to blossom
I loved Jason’s comments on “ designer”reptile breeding.
Omggggg KENAN I really enjoyed this video you know I luv the big babies thanks for sharing. 👋🏾KATE ❤️❤️❤️
I have enjoyed watching your turtle 🐢 and see how you are helping them to survive hope to see you again from Kenosha Wisconsin
There's nothing more interesting than a nest of nerds talking about what they love. I had two small ones as a child. They were great.
Hi Kennan had one very lucky morning got to spend time with the bobcat didn't know he was there until I turned around ❤️🐾❤️🌴
I look forward to these episodes every Sunday morning. Love it
Lovely! Should go to this place more often. These enclosures are so cool! And he knows so much very cool
what a great, fun episode! thanks kenan!
good to see u an chandler hangin out cant wait to make it down to see yall
God is so wonderful his critters creation are so special 💖✝️😇 you dudes are so blessed! I have 6 six python family and we live in an apartment and hope so much that we can get a house soon!
wondering why some viewers , 334 disliked this wonderful sharing !!!!! Thanks guys with my heartfelt sympathy . keep up!
Probably because it's so cruel to keep the lemurs in such a tiny cage.
@@lauralishes1 the tiny cages are only for their protection against bad weather conditions and where they can take their rest peacefully , otherwise they are kept free during the day to move in this small park. The last wild population of the critically endangered lemurs tortoise is estimated to 1,000 lemurs , only 15 survivors are still alive and reproducing today as they are protected . thanks for commenting
15:35 Was that 'Wierd Bat Virus?' 🤣🤣🤣
🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐒🐕awesome video, w needed this thank u, made my day, month😁👍, always fun when Chandler and Kate are there too!!! Hello from Portland Oregon my friend...
It was great seeing his tortoises you have a very nice friend
I love his house 🏠 his enclosures are amazing
👍
Kenan! I love your channel! I always learn so much and thank you for visiting other QUALITY facilities. Love it, just love it! I think I’m a better keeper because of your inspiration. Please keep doing what you do best, education!
I liked the theory bout the tort using sound to locate the right kind of ground to nest. I makes sense , they could lie on the ground , generate a infra sound pulse , just like elephant do. Which penetrates the ground. Hard rock would reflect more sound. Soft ground less
👍👍🤠
👍👍🤠
🤠🤠
What an awesome channel! Thank you for all the info on tortoises! Learning a lot from you! ❤️🙏
What a beautiful place! Loved watching this
Love it!!! ❤️
RIP Dr Funk DVM. He will be sorely missed!
