Those are the days the really inspired my passion of railroading... I loved all the different kinds of power, the trains going fast and slow, the noise that was around them, the crews! I mean dont worry, I still love railroading, but I think this was a great era for UP trains
Awesome video man. Those were the days just right before all the changes. No fuel restriction so you got to see some train on the highball. Also the unit lash-ups were more interesting then as well.
Great footage, you can hear the lope of the H engine during the SD90 footage. Great catch on the AC6000. I didn't know until recently that another spotting feature for a real 6000 hp GE was the twin exhaust stacks. They can be tricky to "authenticate" on UP. Nice shots :)
That's probably as good as you could get for UP locomotive railfanning in the 21st century, but now pretty much everything has been changed to GEVO's and down graded horsepower motors of both GE and EMD, and those ugly yellow body shell stripes at the bottom, I really like the classic red stripe a lot better. Nice catches and lash-ups Adam
What was the middle and last unit of your first train never seen anything like that before

Seems like there were a lot of SD70s with K5s back in the day I wish that was still the case
Thanks, yes they can even though UP does not have any more "true" AC6000's.
this is kinda making me wonder how often the ac6000 comes through here...
Hard to say, this one is the only so far that I have been able to identify.
5:33 what horn is that?
K5LA, easiest horn to identify.

Oh, haha. If you've lived long enough in Idaho, you can tell the difference!
When watching the video, to me, I didn't notice differents

What? lol, thanks.
There's only dash 8s and a sd70 or sd60 clickbait
Not really click bait, if you'd watch the video there is indeed the various locomotives I mentioned in the title.
Did you even watch?
All you saw was the thumbnail just watch and you'll shut up.
