NFN's 2023 KD / SAR Salmon Fishing (Deep Meat) Lake Michigan

- The NFN Adventure team fished in the 41st Annual Kewaunee / Door County Salmon Tournament (my 16th year participating). Plus this year we also got into the Salmon-A-Rama and won some cash in the Big 5 event with our five biggest King Salmon. Meat rigs proved to be the big fish baits of choice. My favorites are the Big Weenie rigs ran with full sized herring ran on the deepest downrigger plus the 300 copper rod was hot.
Here is where you can get the green pin clip that I showed in the video www.thepinclip....
Big Thanks to my crew Mikey and Wally for keeping fishing fun.
NFN out...
Nice job in the tourney! Keep the vids coming Nick, always enjoy them and your honest commentary :)
Great video! Let us know how you ended up overall.
Great video as always, hoping you can do many more! Using the sw dipsey rig on my boat, works great! You said you fish the full moon phase, what part(beginning, total, waning,or all) ?
I enjoy night fishing for salmon anytime within 3 days prior to 3 days after the full moon.
Thanks, I will try that. Don't kill the sheepshead, they eat mussels, maybe the quaggas. Anything in the fight against invasives!
I love your videos Nick! You remind me of me and my buddies on our boat. I know the video-ing is a hassle, I’ve tried it, but I’m glad you keep at it! We don’t have as many kings here in Montana as you to guys do, but we are pretty hard core after what do have. I’ve learned a lot from your videos. Thanks!
What line do you run for your downrigger rod
Early season i run 20# Ande. For the KD and beyond I run 30# flourocoat. The 30# works better for water fleas
What brand is that Copper Muffin?
Silver Streak
Blueberry muffin on a 10 color leadcore my favorite on lake Michigan. Evenings along the golf course south of Arcadia
@@freetimeoffshore3157 do you like a mag, or a standard size?
@@bobhunter8992 right now I am using luhr Jensen standard with the white add on ring.set at 3 1/2. Pulls hard ,takes a bit of adjusting. I check it often because of spiny fleas and smaller fish don't always trip it. Here on Huron walleyes are everywhere, even out at 170 ft of water . Triple your ft back to get depth.(60 back is 20 ft down.
@@freetimeoffshore3157 I was referring to the spoon size, magnum or standard.
Enjoy your videos. Just started getting into trolling and wondering if you have ever fished out of Bailey's Harbor or Rowley's bay. I am on North Bay and looking for some pointers on structure etc in the area .
Great video, Nick! Looks like you and the crew had a great time, as always! Miss seeing pops and uncle Sam in the boat too! I too got a troll smarter put in this summer. Seems fanastic so far. Easy to use, lots of adjustment, the surge stall feature has helped to trigger more bites, no doubt!
Kicking the King 10:43..how would you like your A kicked? Respect the source..
Awesome Nick. Would love to fish with you some time. Been watching for years
Been waiting for the video since I saw the FB post....great job Nick and crew.
Great to see you back at it Nick !! That was a great video ! Looks like it was a ton o fun all round. 👍👍👍
Nick you need a magnetgo from coots lures they work awesome.
It was really nice getting to visit a little more this year, really enjoyed the company! Here’s to next year 🍻
Nick, how big is your boat? I've been thinking about doing some tournaments too with a 16' aluminum, I feel like I'll just get pushed around the big pond in these gnarly winds. Awesome job!
19.75'
Always like watching this tournament you guys fish in. Great fishing, great friends. And Glad to see the Ol Lund back on the water great repair on the boat.
Nice video Nick whats with the Borax and Pickling salt ? Is that a way to legally use the bait in Wisconsin?
Keeps it from getting soft and falling apart.
That power pole would drive me insane while trolling !! How is the new transom holding up? Any issues?
No issues at all and I like my talons I use them all the time when not trolling. When going trolling I remove the port unit (super easy).
No fish nick always catch The big ones video keep it coming
What size boat what length boat is that?
Great vid nick, got a question about how you run your meat. When you run meat, what speed are you running at the ball and what are you using for the rest of the spread so you know it is working at slower speeds.
1.7 - 2.2 with spoons and FF's
You do great videos Nick. Your crew and camp buds are as good as any. Thanks again!
You guys have big fun together and we get to join you on your adventures. Thanks
Great video Nick!
I watched this twice now. Love your videos, I just put a Trollsmarter on my boat nice to see you using it here
Thanks Jeff 😊.
That looked like way to much fun - Is that typical salmon fishing for Washington Island area for July?
This year was exceptionally good.
What net do you use?
Love the videos Nick keep up the good work
It's a female
The release is called The Pin Clip.
It's the original maker of OR16 who sold the patent rights to offshore many years ago and now sells these.
He's from Mayville Wi and the bciest guy ever and they are the best clips out there and made with all USA products and hand made by individuals with disabilities and super affordable!
Great video as always!
My mans back in action
Nick, how do you like your PS 31? By any chance can you see your dipsys with it? Thanks
I can see the Dipsys going out and when they are within 130 feet of the boat
Thank you!
Nice work this year. Tried giving you a run for your money on the big 5. Just couldn’t get one over 25 to stick
Nice video. So did you end up liking the new dipsy set up with the release?
Lol!! I just seen the ending where you talked more about it. What a fun trip
It works but I feel the smaller S clip will slice through the water better giving you more sideways pull.
Todd,I use nfn's s clip rig on my high divers and it's working well here on lake Huron.
@@freetimeoffshore3157 thanks for the feedback. I am going to go that rout next time out. Difficult when it’s just me and the wife to hand land with a long lead.
Nice eating size walleyes!! Thankyou!!
You guys are fishing machines
Do you guys ever use plugs?
Yes. I like Scarpace meat plugs.
Super video.......we fished 20 miles south of you but didn't connect on the big kings like you did.....great job staying connected all week! I've adapted your sw dipsey technique and employ it on 3 out of 4 of my dipseys.....I'd like to try the green clip you showed at the end of the video.....I haven't found them online yet.....do you have a retail source?
Thanks. My bud knew where to get them and sent me this link www.thepinclip.com
@@NoFishNicksAdventures Thanks Nick......I ordered several to use on the sw dipsey, planer boards, and for clip-on weights for walleye crank bait trolling
