The b3 dynamite was such a blessing to the b3 family and more!! So missed 💝💝💝😢💝🎹🎹🎹😢
May 23, 2022 is when I was last blessed to see and hear and talk to Joey. That night his dad was in the audience. He played the B-3, trumpet, sax, and even sang. I miss him nore than I can say. Music lost a giant. On April 9th, 2023 a tribute concert in his honor was held at the MIM in Phoenix. His wife spoke to us about him. It was so sad and yet so joyous as Lewis Nash and Ronnie Foster played their hearts out in tribute to the man. His music will live on.
RIP Joey. Now he's playing in heaven with all the greats!
R.I.P Mr. Defrancesco
What a loss.
RIP Joey His soul lives on....The great one of our times ......He gave us so much in his 51 years .....Bless His Family
Rest In Peace Joey - your soul will dance forever.
R.I.P. Joey. Your music will live on and on.
Make a Joyful Noise !
😭 He's gone and I couldn't see him
rest in peace joeyD. your great music will live on.
Rest in peace Master Joey D❤️🎹🎷
With all the BS we’ve endured in recent years (and the recent loss of Pat Martino), I’m truly thankful this Thanksgiving weekend that Joey DeFrancesco and friends are still testifying.
and how. yeah, man this is the shizz
😢
no longer... RIP Joey D
Terrible shock - a cruel and tragic loss. There are special artists who deeply touch our souls. We rejoice at their gifts they share and truly ache when they are gone; too many, too soon. My deepest and heartfelt condolences to Joey DeFrancesco’s family, dear friends, and colleagues.
RIP Big Joey
What an amazing musician his feel his swing and improvs are up there in the stratos !!
One of the most talented musicians of his time- I gonna miss him a lot. Rest In Peace.
Around 2002, I met him after a Nashville show. I shook his hand and exclaimed, "I do believe Art Tatum done got reincarnated as an organ grinder!" He grinned and replied, "Thanks!". Around 2004, I inquired about a B3 he had for sale on eBay. Later, when I met him after a show, he remembered, and asked "Did you buy an organ yet?" Although monstrously gifted, he seemed genuinely approachable and even humble. What's all this dust in my eyes?
His musicality, dynamic, taste, technique, swing!! His ability to mimic a section perfectly under the clarinet! Ernie’s playing captivates me like no other.
“Today jazz loses a point of reference - says La Spezia jazz drummer Matteo Cidale -, a great talent, a multi-instrumentalist. He had been discovered by Miles Davis and from that moment Joey went through the fundamental and most important stages playing with the greats of the world jazz scene. He recorded his first album at the age of 16 and he found himself playing on the most important stages with names of the caliber of Jimmy Smith, Benny Golson, Elvin Jones, Ray Charles, Diana Krall and many others ”.
Many messages of condolence on social media, especially of disbelief and dismay from insiders, musicians, friends and people who have known Joey's great talent.
This man was the man that was born on planet earth and decided at an early age that the organ would become an organ of his own body.
Joey is the man. Always will be!
The Last of the Best ❤ r.i.p Joey D
Why is it I‘m always smiling when Joey‘s on? 🤷🏻♂️😁
It just makes me smile.Thank you Joey😎
Joey war der Grösste!
Fabuloso!
Joey , merci pour tout. Tu es une étoile . Rip
i think Joey could take any composition great or small and make it into something better and special-
because he was something special.
The solos, the licks, such perfection! RIP Joey!!!!! You will be missed. Xx
drummer is awesome
The other keyboard player is Lucas Brown - he plays guitar as well as keyboard. Here he's playing a Wurlitzer electric piano sound on that Viscount - quite nice - both Lucas's playing, and the Wurly sound from the Viscount.
RIP Joey D.
MISS U!
He was the best❤
Just saw Joey and his trio perform this at the Berks Jazz Fest in April 2022 never thinking he would be gone 4 months later. Watched his NAMM 2022 performance never thinking 2 months later… R.I.P. Soulful Swing Monster.
Perfect and beautiful
Blessings Joey 🙏🏼 thanks for all your musical teachings. Infinite prayer flame for you 🙏🏼
mesmerizing is the only word each time i hear joey play
This is the way I like Joey to play. Swinging jazzy dancing music is, what I believe he does best.
really so sad about his loss. i wanted to see him live again so badly. such an amazing joyful dude.
Boom, and the the day is ok again - sweet.
I'll have some more of that, Thank you!
Like what I am hearing
didnt know.... rip happy to have watched you live. thanks
Joey is one bad dude (thanks a million to his idol, Jimmy Smith! He's very SOULFUL! The pianist and drummer here are also "laying down the funk" perfectly!
That's our Joey!
Great to listen to Joey one more time even if now it has to be on the screen. RIP Joey
It hits you instantly...
The ultimate playground!
I still like the real thing. I've been keeping Hammond organs running for years. Sound aside the key length of a Hammond is probably the best mechanical key ever made. I wonder if those modern keys compare. When you are this good it matters less but for most of us it's a feel that helps us play best. You are the living inspiration of the Hammond jive.
hallelujah I love you so ~~~~~~~ Great Joey
Joey gots silk drawers....you have to, to play that smooth all the time!!!
Beautiful playing!!!! Great reaction @2:35 pure joy. He's like "yeah, man"
Awesome!!! Amazing!!! Joey De Francesco You are the greatest! Congratulation for your Band!
Joey, you do go “ hard in the paint”. Thanks!
Man, that is so copacetic! Smooth and soulful. Brings me back to great times at Jimmy Mak's in Portland, Oregon, with my brother (R.I.P.).
Oh Yeah. JD the bartender and Louis Pain brought Joey there several times. Amazing times.
Un encanto !!! gracias
Il più grande ❤con hammonds
Superb! Love the two keyboards... you guys sound great together!
So swing'n Joey. "If it ain't got the groove you don't have noth'n" as you say BUT this has nut'n but groove!
Keep On dialing it in Joey, Lookin' Amazing and Sounding Incredible as Always
No phoning it in here!
Love it!
RIP, Joey... So so sad you're gone.

Joey you slammin as usual
Bravo!!!
Love it👍
sensacional.
Did anyone else notice that Joey has a saxophone neckstrap on? Are we going to get a clip from this gig of Joey on saxophone?
it's been a while, glad to hear you again
🙌🏽
if you dont want to dance after hearing joey on the hammond b3 then you are dead
Now he´s a thin man !
Who’s the other Wirly keyboard Player pls & thx?
Lucas Brown.
I think that's Lucas Brown. I'm not sure why the notes have him down as a guitarist.
Yep it’s me, and I also play guitar! Thanks for listening!
Sounds more like a Rhodes patch.
@@eumakka Wow. Superb solo! Congrats :)
RIP Joey. Miss ya already. But something about Viscount organs... not quite a peer to a Hammond B3 but better than a synth/sampler IMHO.
Who is the Second Keyboard?
Good bye, Joey...
Trade up for a lighter ball and chain. Viscount!
What is the song called this is based on?
I don't know if it's based on one particular song. I hear references to "The Preacher" (Horace Silver), "Doxy" (Sonny Rollins), and "Hallelujah, I love her so" (Ray Charles), though none of those chord changes fits exactly.
@@melchimichel3979 yes, thank you! It was "Doxy" I was looking for👍🙂
Love it!
