    Hey! My name is Darryl Syms, and uh, well, I play guitar! I mean, I do a bunch of other cool things too - hopefully you can get to know me a little bit more through some of my videos.
    On this channel, I predominantly post instructional videos to help inspire and encourage like-minded guitar players. My goal is to help you expand your musical vocabulary, to broaden your understanding of music, and to entertain. There are already thousands of guitar related videos out there, but I try to set my videos apart from the usual by exploring a modern approach, and by simply being myself! 💁♂️
    Other than music, I have many other passions such as surfing, snowboarding, nutrition, advocating a vegan and sustainable lifestyle, yoga, photography, and a mixture of other things. Maybe you're interested in checking out my website: www.darrylsyms.com ✌️
    I hope you enjoy what I have to offer, and I look forward to growing as a musician with you!

    Having just spent a boatload of time learning major and minor triads & their inversions all over the neck I've been now trying to figure out how to apply them more musically. This is such a great exercise that you can easily build on, thanks so much, bravo!

      I remember it taking me the better part of a year learning and UNDERSTANDING major minor triads and inversions. Pretty rewarding isn't it?

      Oh yeah I totally agree. It’s also so easy to THINK you know it all and that you’re ready to move on, but it takes time to realise that you were only scratching the surface 😆

    Alright you’ve sold me I’m getting the masterclass, the only reason that stopped me before was I thought it wouldn’t sound musical and it wouldn’t be memorable but If the masterclass is anything like this I’ll be laughing.

      Yay! Towards the end of the masterclass I do demonstrate and teach some musical examples for you to learn and assess. I don’t doubt you’ll love them! The information I share in the Masterclass has even revolutionised my own thought process and playing!

    Thanks for practicing advice. Just want to know how and when to use in real playing. Whats the benefit to master this?

    • @DarrylSyms
      @DarrylSyms  3 роки тому +5

      So many benefits, depending on the context. Visualisation is my #1 favourite - being able to see chords and arpeggios alllll over the neck on demand versus only being familiar with once box shape. This’ll also aid composition, since you’ll have a bigger chord vocabulary. Improvisation too - since you’ll be able to faster recall chord tones etc. Eventually you’ll want to learn extended chords, seventh chords, extended arpeggios, a mixture of scales, and all sorts of good stuff, but all of that knowledge stems from the prerequisite of triads! 🙌

    Hi Daryl, great video and ideas for practicing triads. While this exercise will help left hand and visualisation, what would you suggest for the right hand? In my experience the greater challenge is to combine this left hand exercise with plucking with a pick each note of the triad separately but in a random order.
    What are your suggestions?

    • @DarrylSyms
      @DarrylSyms  3 роки тому

      That depends on what your goals are. Do you struggle with accuracy? I wouldn’t necessarily think of triads as a right hand exercise, but I recommend that if you search my channel for “Triads” you’ll find heaps of stuff, including a picking sequence I’m sure you’ll like 😎
