Personally, I thought Emil's shot had too much height (loft, with not enough pace) (I was saying that to myself from the get-go) and Diego, stepped in and took it early and drove it down the line which set himself up really well for the close volley at the net. It probably would work better for rec players below 5.0 that don't have the hand-eye or footwork to take it early and put their opponent on the immediate defensive. Just my experience talking. Thanks, Ryan.
Good lesson..... Deep approach... the short angle volly....notice how the ball landed in the middle of the box though it wasn't close to the line ....that's the key. Using soft hands to volley short with a little underspan helps a lot so firmer grip for deeper Vollys... softer grip for short, I like. To teach 5 grip tensions 5 is a ball hit right at you a 100 miles an hour and you're just. Blocking it... 4 is deep and 2 is soft angle. One note Diego should have split...and been two feet from center from the t on the same side as the approach ! He was kind of in the center and he really didn't split step... He hit such a great penetrating deep approach shot though. He really didn't have to be in perfect position....Federer was the best on court position at the net ! Great lesson my daughter liked your video on Paula B's Backhand... so keep up the good work. Cheers
Thanks! The most frustrated I get while playing a tennis match is when I keep my opponent in the point because I hit a deep volley, where he ends up winning the point

No matter the level, lower is easier to handle

Most recreational players don’t have access to filming equipment. Digital recording works just fine

Why are there so many pro tennis recordings from IW?
