I kinda like how he's always there to witness most of the awakenings. Between him and Joker, it kinda reminds you how long they've come together as best bros, seeing the group grow and all that
I like how everyone else's is about abandoning their old selves, or avenging or saving someone. Then Ryuji's is like: "lol everyone hates you already, so why not live up to their reputation."
Ryuji was partially inspired by son wukong. A big part of his character is accepting his role and the duties with it, initially he just sees it as a way for payback and get his way done but as he goes on, he becomes far more aware of his duties and stops seeing the PT as just something cool they do and to feel better about himself. A big part of him is also his undying loyalty, trust and appreciation for joker. Son wukong was an incredibly loyal follower of the monk he was a disciple of, ryuji is the only one to 100% know the plan worked without fail as soon as he sees the news, puts his life on the line with the boat... he stops being as braggy and accepts what he has to do, which is why his persona turns into William, the actual pirate and rebel, and not captain kidd, what people like to call him, nor the overly angry monkey that rampaged around the heavens for the fuck of it
The biggest difference between Sumire’s awakenings is that when she rips her mask on her true awakening, she is bleeding. She doesn’t bleed at all in the first awakening
Not to mention Cendrillion saying "the spell cast upon you"... It makes sense in retrospect. "You've accepted to be Kasumi, but nonetheless I will help you."
Back when she assumed that she was Kasumi, her sister had no problem of showing who she was. But when she decided to be her actual self, she won't let her grief from holding her back no more, that's why was she struggled to rip the mask off
Because it's easy to show who you pretend to be, but hard and painful to show the real you. Sumire wanted to be Kasumi so much that she awakened as Kasumi and not herself. It was also convincing because both are literally twins and have similar personalities. The main difference is that Sumire is not confident whish is why it was easy for her deep down to awaken as Kasumi but very painful to not only awaken as Sumire, but drop the act as Kasumi and accept her death. She lied to everyone and had to fix it, not only reveal her true self.

and the fact that pandora is in the “hope” arcana is just too perfect like how pandora released hope by opening the box (along with a ton of other plagues but that’s not the point)
Still blows my mind how well Strikers handled both of those awakenings. Maybe its because you spent so long with Sophie in game prior to her moment, but that one definitely hit the hardest for me.
Yeah. Sophia's Awakening is not overly powerful in isolation (still, in my opinion, better than several OG members), but the care we gave to her over the entire game amplifies that severely.
It references some lines from the musical. "Who am I? Can I condemn this man to slavery? Pretend I do not see his agony?" "Jean Valjean is nothing now Another story must begin." "Valjean at last We see each other plain Monsieur le Maire You'll wear a different chain." "In His name, my task has just begin I will see it done."
It was also timed masterfully. I felt like the other characters didn't get enough time to establish themselves or the struggles they've been running away from. Meanwhile, Zenkichi had well over half the game to get acquainted with the Phantom Thieves and develop his slow turn over to the rebellion, apexing at the moment he has to face his own daughter and promise to her that he's done shutting out his justice.
Sophia's awakening probably appeared in one of the best ways, mostly because her Persona was technically there the whole time as Pithos before the pieces all came together. Sophie didn't even need to tear off a mask; Pandora was so powerful that she shattered it herself.
@@bluecanine3374 you’ll also notice it actually cracks right before she calls her out. I thought it was a nice substitute to the fact she can’t rip a mask off like the others.
My top 5 1. Zenkinchi- I like the shadow talking to him and I really like Valjean 2. Joker- I think it’s the most impactful one because you don’t really see it coming 3. Sophia- Damn, that voice acting is great 4. Maruki (Adam Kadmon)- I love the origins of both Azathoth and Adam Kadmon. Maruki is also just my favorite Persona character. 5. Yusuke- This is the awakening that best conveys how painful it is. Yusuke clawing at the ground until he bleeds still gives me shivers.

Maruki summoning Azathoth with a calm, collected: "Persona" is so badass. To think under that goofy therapist's outside there was lurking such a cool villain.
I really like Maruki, especially his "casual" palace outfit. But the moment he pulled out this pope onesie, I immediately couldn't help myself but to laugh everytime he was on screen.
When i first saw that for myself, I could not help but laugh... a most evil sinister laugh, knowing that Kamoshida's Shadow picked on the wrong man... and I was about to exact my rage.
One of the things I really like about these awakenings is that we see the yellow eyes before they pull off the mask which I think symbolizes the merging of the normal and shadow forms (shadows have yellow eyes) which is a great callback to P4
@@Akechi_The_Phantom_Detective Four months late, but yes this is a callback to Persona 4. All human shadows in that game possessed yellow eyes when they’re from yourself. It didn’t exist in Persona 3 due to the fact there wasn’t any real merging between person and shadow. Futaba’s awakening really references Persona 4 though.
@@gavo7911 I like to think that it shows on how Akechi had to sides where he can either chose the noble path that his mother wanted or the dirty vengeance following Shido but when he awakened it he didnt know what life to pick at that time so he had both of them.(since he was a child back then)
I love how everyone else (save for joker and ann i guess but they were pinned so i dont really count it ) buckled down from the pain from the Awakening, but Makoto VIOLENTLY refused to fall to her knees and tanked that shit like a champ. I think thats raw as hell.

Something interesting, during Kasumi’s first awakening, they used an audio affect which makes it sound like there are two voices( 14:09 ) which represents how Sumire is living hiding behind the mask of Kasumi
Holy shit your right! I dont remember if this audio effect happened in the game, so I assumed that something happened to the video and that caused this effect. But when you put it like that........WOW
And the magic girl transformation hinted as well if you think about it. Let's take Sailor Moon into example. In her civilian form she was Usagi/Serena, but transformed she was Sailor Moon. She was Kasumi has her civilian form for the longest of time but as Violet she to a degree up to her true awakening was Sumire.
I'm glad I finally reached the final dungeon of Strikers so I could watch this without spoiling myself. You would not believe how I freaked out when Zenkichi awakened to Valjean (who, as a theatre kid, is one of my all-time favorite protagonists) or cried when Sophia awakened to Pandora (and dang, if there aren't a metric ton of implications there). All of them are incredible (though we shall never see the awakening of my favorite character, Hifumi), but the Strikers Awakenings are by far my favorite, while those from P5(R) are Ryuji, Futaba (yay Persona 4 callback!), and Haru.
Everybody: *ripping their masks off to summon persona for their first time* Kasumi: *Elegantly taking mask off and dancing* Everyone: Ah! Yes! Of course! How did we missed that part?
Maybe it's because... and of course, spoilers... ...Maybe it's because at first, it wasn't really her (Sumire's) persona, since she didn't know who she was at the time. So she wasn't awakening to her true self, because she wasn't herself... if that makes sense. In fact, with her first awakening, and the second, it is kind of implied that Cendrillon isn't truly Sumire's Persona... but Kasumi's.
@@ShadowdaHedgie11 So this implies that Sumire's TRUE persona is Vanadis, which would also add on to the fact that she looks similar to Joker, since Vanadis has a similar color palate to Arsene, and Sumire's outfit is practically the female equivalent to Joker's outfit, just fitted for athleticism, hence why she has a leotard still.
@@StarLucario102 That'd be my theory, yes. Sumire really ends up becoming her own person at the end of her confidant route. And then Ella is a little time later when she's fully decided to keep going not just for her own sake, but for Kasumi's as well, to achieve the dream that they shared.
He would possibly sound like Morgana in his faux human form. Though honestly I can only see Zorro speaking with baritone rather than Morgana's usual voice.
Personas don't typically talk after an awakening. Since Morgana's voice remains the same in the Japanese version when he is a human, I believe Zorro's voice would be the same as Morgana's cat form for both versions. I just think it would be Ohtani or Lee doing a deeper voice for Zorro.
I really love all of the awakenings, but for me zenkichis awakening is the best. And from all of the Phantom Thieves, his outfit is the coolest. I,m so glad that persona 5 made its way on to Nintendo switch
God I love these scenes so much. Thanks for the compilation. If there was one issue I had, it’s that Robin Hood’s reveal is missing. But since it’s so short, I get why you skipped it. And nice job including Maruki’s!

One thing I noticed about the final blow from P3, P4, and P5's Ultimate Persona is that the symbolism around it that fits the game's theme. Great Seal: when SEES were severely pushed by Nyx's gravity wave, P3 protag eventually rise up unaffected by it, and able to reach it's core. It symbolized that he finally accept his ultimate fate, leading to his soul become the "Door" between Nyx and Erebus. Myriad Truth: P4 protag throw off his glasses (which was assumed to be cracked by withstanding Izanami-no-okami's attack), before he summon Izanagi-no-okami. It symbolized that he already made up his mind to see the truth, no matter how hard it is. Sinful Shell: P5 protag held the chain in Arsene's body, and swung it until it broke before Arsene transformed into Satanael. It symbolized that he's finally let free the burdensome inside him, and he can be himself again without worry.
Joker breaking Arséne's chain like that thanks to the people of Japan finally accepting him and the phantom thieves is amazing. I love his first words after awakening Satanael (that "SATANAEL!" Has so much power behind it as well) fits well and I love the reference to the Abrahamic myth that Morgana (and that random citizen) brings up, "they're not just phantom thieves anymore, that's some kind of demon lord" "I see, when a god plays naughty it's a demon lords duty to punish him" those quotes really resonate with a quote from one of the Abrahamic myths that he's part of, "sometimes you just have to paint yourself as the villain to make sure others remain the perfect heroes that the world need" also "Our Beginning" is such an amazing song to have for that poignant moment because it starts off epic and then slows down near the end and finishes on a more somber note because Yaldabaoth realizes that he was wrong. It's just such a great final boss fight and worth the 80ish hours it took to get the original ending.
Ren’s awakening is iconic. It sends chills every time. I always loved Ann’s awakening. From being chained up and struggling to get out of her chains to literally breaking out, being a badass, and showing up her abuser. So empowering. Makoto’s is also super badass. If I had a persona, it would definitely be a bike. MY DAUGHTER, FUTABA. Merging with her Shadow and finding the truth behind her trauma really resonates with me. The Phantom Thieves stealing her heart was really what she needed. Haru’s is also empowering. Standing up to her abusive fiancée and father, and then seeing her true self shine through Milady really defines her character. Akechi’s is so sad and overboard, it’s iconic. I love it. PILLAGE HIM, SATANAEL!!! Kasumi’s awakening holds a lot of symbolism through her outfit change, persona, and her taking off her mask. That’s the reason why I love it. And Sumire’s awakening is the cherry on top. Zenkichi’s awakening was so well-done. I love how his Shadow is a literal shadow. I also love how he and Maruki are adults, showing that kids aren’t the only ones that are able to change and rebel against society. And Sophia’s awakening and symbolism is fantastic as well. I also like how Sophia can’t rip off a mask, so her mask is just Pandora’s name and she breaks her screen. And her voice acting is * chef’s kiss *.
Interestingly a noticeable difference between her first and second awakening is in the first Sumi says that she’s Kasumi Yoshizawa. As a response Cendrillion appears “if those really are the shoes you’ve chosen” while in the second one she says that her weak and insecure Sumire dies today, and that it was wrong yo pretend to be Kasumi, accepting her true identity with Cendrillion responding that the shoes fit her better than before indicating how Cendrillion always knew that what Sumi wasn’t in her true identity and what she was doing was wrong but also knew that it was her choice and she would eventually find her path.
I don't remember where I saw it but someone pointed out how certain characters need to use more force to reveal their true selves (Joker, Makoto, Sumire) while those who don't hide most of their personality can rip it off more easily (Ann, Yusuke) ugh the detail put into this game is crazy
I couldn't agree more. The sheer desperation and emotion in that scream is just... *incredible* . And just think, her actress did that line by herself because everyone recorded and edited their lines alone due to the pandemic! The emotional and thematic payoff are also just... *chef's kiss*
god, sophie’s true awakening gives me shivers every time. those screams of agony are crazy. something else i just noticed is how different futaba and haru's persona sound from theirselves / their voice actors, really crazy how they did that
VAs are talented people! And despite all the "subs not dubs" raving, English VAs are amazing too! I agree that Sophia's Awakening is full of chills though, her actress is a miracle worker.
Ren, Makoto, and Zenkichi have a much harder time pulling off their masks initially. this could represent them having a way harder time with revealing their true selves, which is what the masks symbolised to begin with
Not sure if you know, but Max Mittelton voices both Ryuji and Captain Kidd. All of the characters share their VAs with their persona, which makes the performances in these scenes so much cooler.
Oh! I just read the description and I LOVE the difference between Violet's awakenings in it. The first is Kasumi's awakening and the second is Sumire's awakening. I know most people just call the second her 'true' awakening, but that kinda pales to how you split them

I just love Dr. Maruki’s for the amazing performance by Billy Kametz (RIP) but he lowkey has to be the most overpowered Persona antagonist in the whole series
P1-3 fans would want a word with you :P Seriously though, I think he could be a contender post-February if he got his way, but it also speaks to how kind and gentle he is that he gives the Thieves a chance to stop him before then.
Never have i met a person i wanted to lose so badly to as Maruki, his reasoning for doing what he did, he passion and sacrifices made me want not beat him but I couldn't live in that reality
You know what i love about Sophie's persona? When she gets it it conifirms shes gained a soul. It started as a subroutine into a full fledged persona. One persona per soul.
Makoto's will always be my personal favorite because of the character arc she had up to that point, but Sophie's nearly took that spot after Strikers. For one, I didn't expect to actually see her get an awakening since she already had a "Persona" (kinda). And two, Sophie's and Zenkichi's VA's didn't really compare to the rest of the cast. They weren't bad by any means, but there were a couple lines here and there that sounded forced where the rest of the cast ALWAYS sounds so natural to me. So when I heard Sophie's VA go in on that awakening performance, it absolutely floored me.

You know... Ryuji's Awakening, compared to the rest of them, is pretty tame. But you know what makes it memorable? Max Mittleman's A+ delivery! Also, Akechi's reveal was anything but... 'low-key'~ -also it's missing Akechi revealing Robin Hood-
Well, What really built it up was when Ryuji said, "Quit looking down on me with that stupid smile on your face" That scene always gives me goosebumps on how amazing it sounded.

Joker, Ryuji, Ann, Yusuke: Explode in blue fire Futaba: Abducted by aliens Kasumi: Sailor Moon Joker awakening Satanael is definitely one of the most most badass moments in the game. Side note: Futaba's shadow becoming Necronomicon is a nice callback to the Persona 4 awakenings. Sophia's awakening brings a tear to my eyes everytime I watch it.
Makoto's is still my favourite, that girl is built so different she stayed upright for the entire process! Her steps cracking the ground is also the coolest thing ever!

I this might some useless information but Makoto awakening her Persona sounds exactly like Lucy getting tortured by Minerva in the Grand Magic Games. No I don’t think it’s a coincidence they’re both voiced by the VA.
Hard agree here. Also bring back the roster of P4AU with the P4 characters being aged up like how the P3 characters were aged up in P4 Arena. Other playable characters could be either twins or just Lavenza along side Shadow Shido and Shadow Konoe since they fit a fighting game setting the best.
@@KillaCheeto56 I would definitely prefer Lavenza over the twins. Also, the P4 cast should have their third awakening Personas like how the P3 cast had their second awakening Personas in P4A. Shadow Shido and Konoe would be cool, but I don't know if they would make it in. I also want Labrys and Sho to return as well since they're originally from the Arena series.
@@Baconmutt It is unlikely that we wouldn't get either Shido or Konoe but getting them would be super cool. I think if we could get Adachi in P4AU then those 2 are possible. I think having both Lavenza and the twins would be cool because you could have twins fight a little like Cait Sith from Chaos Code or the Ice Climbers in Smash where you control 2 at once. And yeah both Sho and Labrys should return. And I mean both versions of them. Another interesting thing could be how Acechi is handled. Do you make him a stance character that can switch between both Robin Hood and Loki forms on the fly or do you make them 2 separate characters.
@@KillaCheeto56 I don't know how I missed this comment, but here we are. Spoilers for those who haven't finished P5 Royal and P5 Strikers incoming. Perhaps Shido and Konoe would be incorporated into the story in some way, but I don't see them being added as playable fighters. Adachi can fight, but since Shido and Konoe have had their hearts changed, and since only their Shadows had any sort of fighting abilities, having either of them as fighters wouldn't make sense. As for Akechi, I imagine he would be an install type of character similar to Jubei from BlazBlue, where he has a super that changes him into his black mask with Loki form either temporarily or for the rest of the round. Since Akechi was hinted at possibly being alive at the end of P5 Royal, and since Maruki could use his powers to bring him back even if he's dead, I think Akechi's chances of being playable would be very high.
Idk why but the quote 'The glass slippers are the Icon of Glory' is so lowkey powerful, and lowkey true. Cinderella is the ultimate story of obtaining glory, and probably the most widely known across all corners of the world.

Futaba doesn't have to rip a mask off because she is in her own palace and fuses with her shadow self once she accepts the truth. Awesome P4 callback.

I do like that sumire also had trouble taking off the mask the second time round. There's a lot of cool symbolism in her awakenings
Cendrillion sounded bored the first time around as well.
Back when she assumed that she was Kasumi, her sister had no problem of showing who she was. But when she decided to be her actual self, she won't let her grief from holding her back no more, that's why was she struggled to rip the mask off
Because it's easy to show who you pretend to be, but hard and painful to show the real you. Sumire wanted to be Kasumi so much that she awakened as Kasumi and not herself. It was also convincing because both are literally twins and have similar personalities. The main difference is that Sumire is not confident whish is why it was easy for her deep down to awaken as Kasumi but very painful to not only awaken as Sumire, but drop the act as Kasumi and accept her death. She lied to everyone and had to fix it, not only reveal her true self.

It’s funny, the last three persona main character gets mechanical companions. P3 with Aigis, P4 with Labrys, and now P5 with Sophia.
Still blows my mind how well Strikers handled both of those awakenings. Maybe its because you spent so long with Sophie in game prior to her moment, but that one definitely hit the hardest for me.
I didn't like Sophie much but her late awakening was awesome. I prefered Zenkichi though

Yeah. Sophia's Awakening is not overly powerful in isolation (still, in my opinion, better than several OG members), but the care we gave to her over the entire game amplifies that severely.

It was also timed masterfully. I felt like the other characters didn't get enough time to establish themselves or the struggles they've been running away from. Meanwhile, Zenkichi had well over half the game to get acquainted with the Phantom Thieves and develop his slow turn over to the rebellion, apexing at the moment he has to face his own daughter and promise to her that he's done shutting out his justice.
In style too
Sophia's awakening probably appeared in one of the best ways, mostly because her Persona was technically there the whole time as Pithos before the pieces all came together. Sophie didn't even need to tear off a mask; Pandora was so powerful that she shattered it herself.

1. Zenkinchi- I like the shadow talking to him and I really like Valjean
2. Joker- I think it’s the most impactful one because you don’t really see it coming
3. Sophia- Damn, that voice acting is great
4. Maruki (Adam Kadmon)- I love the origins of both Azathoth and Adam Kadmon. Maruki is also just my favorite Persona character.
5. Yusuke- This is the awakening that best conveys how painful it is. Yusuke clawing at the ground until he bleeds still gives me shivers.

When i first saw that for myself, I could not help but laugh... a most evil sinister laugh, knowing that Kamoshida's Shadow picked on the wrong man... and I was about to exact my rage.
One of the things I really like about these awakenings is that we see the yellow eyes before they pull off the mask which I think symbolizes the merging of the normal and shadow forms (shadows have yellow eyes) which is a great callback to P4

@@Akechi_The_Phantom_Detective Four months late, but yes this is a callback to Persona 4. All human shadows in that game possessed yellow eyes when they’re from yourself. It didn’t exist in Persona 3 due to the fact there wasn’t any real merging between person and shadow. Futaba’s awakening really references Persona 4 though.
Plus, at this point, it's basically the law that every Megami Tensei game has someone with yellow eyes

Milady de Winter is a female villain from The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas. She helped Cardinal Richelieu plot against King Louis XIII. The name "Milady" is actually a pseudonym, and her real name is left a mystery.
Cendrillon is the original French name for Cinderella. I don't need to explain her. Everyone and their dog knows about Cinderella.
Loki is the Norse god of mischief and trickery. Again, he needs no introduction. There are plenty of differences, but his portrayal in Marvel Comics is actually more accurate than you might think.
Azathoth is the "blind idiot god" in the Cthulhu Mythos (see Necronomicon above). He is the oldest and most powerful of the gods. It's said that the entire universe is a manifestation of Azathoth's dream, and if he wakes then reality will end.
Satanael is an angel in Abrahamic religion who rebelled against God by refusing to bow to the human Enoch. He's sometimes considered a version of Lucifer, who has a similar role.
In Abrahamic religion, Adam Kadmon is the original human, even before Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden. He was the "perfect" man created by Ein Sof, which is said to be God before He had any self-manifestation.
Pithos is the Greek word for a jar or vase. It seems random, but makes a lot more sense in the context of Sophia's true awakening later in the game.
Jean Valjean is the protagonist of Les Misérables, a French novel by Victor Hugo. He was caught stealing bread for his poor family and sentenced to prison. His caring personality directly contrasts the antagonist Inspector Javert, despite the latter representing the law.
Pandora is the first woman in Greek mythology, created by Hephaestus and Athena. She was given the task of keeping a jar, or pithos, safe (see Pithos above). Despite being told not to open it, as it would release "burdensome toil and sickness that brings death to men", her curiosity got the better of her. So she looked inside, accidentally releasing all the evils of mankind. After she closed it, the only thing left inside the pithos was "hope".

And the magic girl transformation hinted as well if you think about it. Let's take Sailor Moon into example. In her civilian form she was Usagi/Serena, but transformed she was Sailor Moon. She was Kasumi has her civilian form for the longest of time but as Violet she to a degree up to her true awakening was Sumire.

I'm glad I finally reached the final dungeon of Strikers so I could watch this without spoiling myself. You would not believe how I freaked out when Zenkichi awakened to Valjean (who, as a theatre kid, is one of my all-time favorite protagonists) or cried when Sophia awakened to Pandora (and dang, if there aren't a metric ton of implications there). All of them are incredible (though we shall never see the awakening of my favorite character, Hifumi), but the Strikers Awakenings are by far my favorite, while those from P5(R) are Ryuji, Futaba (yay Persona 4 callback!), and Haru.
If only Makoto didn't replace Hifumi as a Phantom Thief.

...Maybe it's because at first, it wasn't really her (Sumire's) persona, since she didn't know who she was at the time. So she wasn't awakening to her true self, because she wasn't herself... if that makes sense.
In fact, with her first awakening, and the second, it is kind of implied that Cendrillon isn't truly Sumire's Persona... but Kasumi's.
@@ShadowdaHedgie11 So this implies that Sumire's TRUE persona is Vanadis, which would also add on to the fact that she looks similar to Joker, since Vanadis has a similar color palate to Arsene, and Sumire's outfit is practically the female equivalent to Joker's outfit, just fitted for athleticism, hence why she has a leotard still.

Personas don't typically talk after an awakening. Since Morgana's voice remains the same in the Japanese version when he is a human, I believe Zorro's voice would be the same as Morgana's cat form for both versions. I just think it would be Ohtani or Lee doing a deeper voice for Zorro.
I can imagine Zorro with Pandora’s voice (which is kinda like Morgana,) and it would be best if it didn’t sound that human at all.
I really love all of the awakenings, but for me zenkichis awakening is the best. And from all of the Phantom Thieves, his outfit is the coolest. I,m so glad that persona 5 made its way on to Nintendo switch

One thing I noticed about the final blow from P3, P4, and P5's Ultimate Persona is that the symbolism around it that fits the game's theme.
Great Seal: when SEES were severely pushed by Nyx's gravity wave, P3 protag eventually rise up unaffected by it, and able to reach it's core. It symbolized that he finally accept his ultimate fate, leading to his soul become the "Door" between Nyx and Erebus.
Myriad Truth: P4 protag throw off his glasses (which was assumed to be cracked by withstanding Izanami-no-okami's attack), before he summon Izanagi-no-okami. It symbolized that he already made up his mind to see the truth, no matter how hard it is.
Sinful Shell: P5 protag held the chain in Arsene's body, and swung it until it broke before Arsene transformed into Satanael. It symbolized that he's finally let free the burdensome inside him, and he can be himself again without worry.
Sinful Shell is going to be pretty OP in P6.
Joker breaking Arséne's chain like that thanks to the people of Japan finally accepting him and the phantom thieves is amazing. I love his first words after awakening Satanael (that "SATANAEL!" Has so much power behind it as well) fits well and I love the reference to the Abrahamic myth that Morgana (and that random citizen) brings up, "they're not just phantom thieves anymore, that's some kind of demon lord" "I see, when a god plays naughty it's a demon lords duty to punish him" those quotes really resonate with a quote from one of the Abrahamic myths that he's part of, "sometimes you just have to paint yourself as the villain to make sure others remain the perfect heroes that the world need" also "Our Beginning" is such an amazing song to have for that poignant moment because it starts off epic and then slows down near the end and finishes on a more somber note because Yaldabaoth realizes that he was wrong. It's just such a great final boss fight and worth the 80ish hours it took to get the original ending.
Ren’s awakening is iconic. It sends chills every time.
I always loved Ann’s awakening. From being chained up and struggling to get out of her chains to literally breaking out, being a badass, and showing up her abuser. So empowering.
Makoto’s is also super badass. If I had a persona, it would definitely be a bike.
MY DAUGHTER, FUTABA. Merging with her Shadow and finding the truth behind her trauma really resonates with me. The Phantom Thieves stealing her heart was really what she needed.
Haru’s is also empowering. Standing up to her abusive fiancée and father, and then seeing her true self shine through Milady really defines her character.
Akechi’s is so sad and overboard, it’s iconic. I love it.

Kasumi’s awakening holds a lot of symbolism through her outfit change, persona, and her taking off her mask. That’s the reason why I love it. And Sumire’s awakening is the cherry on top.
Zenkichi’s awakening was so well-done. I love how his Shadow is a literal shadow. I also love how he and Maruki are adults, showing that kids aren’t the only ones that are able to change and rebel against society.
And Sophia’s awakening and symbolism is fantastic as well. I also like how Sophia can’t rip off a mask, so her mask is just Pandora’s name and she breaks her screen. And her voice acting is * chef’s kiss *.
Interestingly a noticeable difference between her first and second awakening is in the first Sumi says that she’s Kasumi Yoshizawa. As a response Cendrillion appears “if those really are the shoes you’ve chosen” while in the second one she says that her weak and insecure Sumire dies today, and that it was wrong yo pretend to be Kasumi, accepting her true identity with Cendrillion responding that the shoes fit her better than before indicating how Cendrillion always knew that what Sumi wasn’t in her true identity and what she was doing was wrong but also knew that it was her choice and she would eventually find her path.
I don't remember where I saw it but someone pointed out how certain characters need to use more force to reveal their true selves (Joker, Makoto, Sumire) while those who don't hide most of their personality can rip it off more easily (Ann, Yusuke) ugh the detail put into this game is crazy

Why Do I Like Captain Kidd's English VA's Voice On Ryuji's Awakening?
Not sure if you know, but Max Mittelton voices both Ryuji and Captain Kidd. All of the characters share their VAs with their persona, which makes the performances in these scenes so much cooler.

I just love Dr. Maruki’s for the amazing performance by Billy Kametz (RIP) but he lowkey has to be the most overpowered Persona antagonist in the whole series

Seriously though, I think he could be a contender post-February if he got his way, but it also speaks to how kind and gentle he is that he gives the Thieves a chance to stop him before then.

You know what i love about Sophie's persona? When she gets it it conifirms shes gained a soul. It started as a subroutine into a full fledged persona. One persona per soul.

Makoto's will always be my personal favorite because of the character arc she had up to that point, but Sophie's nearly took that spot after Strikers. For one, I didn't expect to actually see her get an awakening since she already had a "Persona" (kinda). And two, Sophie's and Zenkichi's VA's didn't really compare to the rest of the cast. They weren't bad by any means, but there were a couple lines here and there that sounded forced where the rest of the cast ALWAYS sounds so natural to me. So when I heard Sophie's VA go in on that awakening performance, it absolutely floored me.

@@T0k1r1 Yeah. As I said, it was pretty tame and vanilla compared to most of the other awakenings, but Max Mittleman's voice acting is what made it REALLY memorable, for me, at least.
Man now knowing the truth about Kasumi, the way that her Persona talks is some heavy foreshadowing.

Joker awakening Satanael is definitely one of the most most badass moments in the game.
Side note: Futaba's shadow becoming Necronomicon is a nice callback to the Persona 4 awakenings.
Sophia's awakening brings a tear to my eyes everytime I watch it.
Makoto's is still my favourite, that girl is built so different she stayed upright for the entire process! Her steps cracking the ground is also the coolest thing ever!

Hard agree here. Also bring back the roster of P4AU with the P4 characters being aged up like how the P3 characters were aged up in P4 Arena. Other playable characters could be either twins or just Lavenza along side Shadow Shido and Shadow Konoe since they fit a fighting game setting the best.
@@KillaCheeto56 I would definitely prefer Lavenza over the twins. Also, the P4 cast should have their third awakening Personas like how the P3 cast had their second awakening Personas in P4A. Shadow Shido and Konoe would be cool, but I don't know if they would make it in. I also want Labrys and Sho to return as well since they're originally from the Arena series.
@@Baconmutt It is unlikely that we wouldn't get either Shido or Konoe but getting them would be super cool. I think if we could get Adachi in P4AU then those 2 are possible. I think having both Lavenza and the twins would be cool because you could have twins fight a little like Cait Sith from Chaos Code or the Ice Climbers in Smash where you control 2 at once. And yeah both Sho and Labrys should return. And I mean both versions of them. Another interesting thing could be how Acechi is handled. Do you make him a stance character that can switch between both Robin Hood and Loki forms on the fly or do you make them 2 separate characters.

@@KillaCheeto56 I don't know how I missed this comment, but here we are. Spoilers for those who haven't finished P5 Royal and P5 Strikers incoming.
Perhaps Shido and Konoe would be incorporated into the story in some way, but I don't see them being added as playable fighters. Adachi can fight, but since Shido and Konoe have had their hearts changed, and since only their Shadows had any sort of fighting abilities, having either of them as fighters wouldn't make sense. As for Akechi, I imagine he would be an install type of character similar to Jubei from BlazBlue, where he has a super that changes him into his black mask with Loki form either temporarily or for the rest of the round. Since Akechi was hinted at possibly being alive at the end of P5 Royal, and since Maruki could use his powers to bring him back even if he's dead, I think Akechi's chances of being playable would be very high.
Can imagine in a future Persona game where all the characters chant "I am thou, thou art I" together to form the ultimate Persona

Idk why but the quote 'The glass slippers are the Icon of Glory' is so lowkey powerful, and lowkey true. Cinderella is the ultimate story of obtaining glory, and probably the most widely known across all corners of the world.
