Mrs Cameraman Gets Her Nails Done | Cracked Ice Design

Welcome to the Kirsty Meakin Shoooooooow! And we’ve got a very special guest, Hayley Bouabda! What a lovely anniversary present from Adam.
We’re going to do a super in depth video on prepping these nails and doing a cracked iced design.
So, Hayley’s nails are different shapes and sizes and the first thing I’m going to do is prep the cuticles. I’ll show you with an e-file and with a cuticle pusher just to show the difference between the two techniques and finish the rest off with my e-file. I prefer using an electric file on my clients but for clients like Andrea, I’ll prep the nails manually because she has really thin skin.
I’m going to pick my tips out and then pop them on the nails, Hayley’s nails are weird shapes so I have to be careful putting them on and I will have a little bit of a gap at that contact point. I’ll cut my tip and then pinch them a little with my finger before blending them in with my file.
I’m going to start with a very thin base of clear acrylic for strength and adhesion. I’m then going to apply clear gel from Mystic Nails with my BrenDek brush and before I cure I’m going to take some thin plastic, pop it on the nail and crinkle up the gel. I’ll then cure that nail quickly. On the other nail I’ll do the same but with the plastic, I’m going to stretch it out first to make the wrinkles for the nail and press that into the nail - I prefer the results of this one.
I’m going to use a silicone tool to apply Nailchemy’s Interstellar chrome powder to the nail and then again with Constellation Stardust from Lecente. I’m then going to go in with Kelpie gel polish over that gel to highlight that design. I’m going to add a little more chrome powder once it’s cured.
I’m then going to add a thin layer of gel to seal in the colour and then I’m going to apply my acrylic. I’m going to use Peach to fill in the back of the nail. I’ll then cap the end in clear acrylic. I’ll then file as normal and buff the nail before I top coat the nail. I’m then going in with White Out and the Lily Liner brush to add in lines and sugar those lines with acrylic powder to finish off the nails. I did the rest of these nails off camera at the end of the day.

In my state, it is illegal for nail techs to cut the cuticles off. It's considered a surgical procedure so it is not allowed any more.

so great to see Mrs, Adam,,,,,, one way to remember it is something my scientist dad told me when I was a kid... stalagmites are formed from the bottom because you MIGHT (MITE) steo on them and hurt your foot.. then stalactites are from the top.... easy to remember if you keep this little jingle in your head.... lol rock on you all... great videos and products... ps ... your products are coming quickly to USA.... thanks so much

I had stopped watching my nail vids over a year ago, as I was working as an RN and my mind was in a dark place. I've now retired, and feeling much better. Ran across these vids one day and realized how much I'd missed Kristy. But I still haven't figured out the separation from the company. I'm just glad, because the company wouldn't send to me, here in the states, and I was only interested in seeing what new innovations Kristy was coming up with. I've seen so many techniques you started, and have been copied by others with no credit given.

Hey Kristy next time if you don’t wanna add color and just want the straight clear icicle design just do the clear gel and icicle design underneath the nail tip instead.. as long as you only put clear acrylic on top of the nail you will still see the crystal clear icicle look! I do it that way all the time and it looks gorgeous! I actually have icicle nails on now done the way i mentioned.. under the tip.. you definitely need to try it girl!! You won’t be disappointed!’ Lol 🥰🥰

I always got stalagmites and stalactites mixed up until someone told me to think of it like tights you pull up your leg so they point up and stalagmites point down x
Stalagmite comes up from the floor and Stalactite hangs from the ceiling - you can remember which is which because 'stalaCtite' has a 'C' in it like 'ceiling'
My nails are extremely thin. Any natural length they just break off and can cause bleeding when they break off to far down.
I tried many differ salons and they struggle so much. I get burned so quickly with filing and Ofc it’s very easy to over file.
I’m currently going through hell with them as they growing out and healing from last salon I tried.
It’s so difficult to find someone who can do my nails I’ve never had anyone be able to do them at all without some sort of complications.
I’d love to see videos of a client who has similar issues and how to help reverse some of these issues. My nails have always been this thin.
And recommendations for salons in the U.K. around the Staffordshire areas would be amazing. I’m even willing to travel if I find the perfect nail tech (well get partner to drive me lol).
