Thank you so much for all the information you just gave us. Only one question, how much is it for a car insurance per year? Also a healthcare insurance. Thankssss
Mills We still live in the USA. When I retire in 3 or 4 years, we can move there. We have family looking after the property. When we started the process in 2014, it was in planning. We kept paying until the total price was paid but they hadn’t broke ground on our condo yet. Since we paid the entire price of the original condo so they gave us a unit that was already finished. Ground still haven’t been broken on our original unit yet. So one must be wary of the process. That’s 6 years.
k moon Excellent! If you pay every month, they will look favorably on that. At least that’s what Arconim did. When we finished paying for our original unit (that wasn’t built yet) they put us in a unit that was finished.
Hi Mills, thanks you for the great video.I was born in the Dominican republic, but i have been living in new York for a long time.I would like to retire in to the Dominican republic.Only on rent i pay $ 2059.00 in new York and the area is terrible and the apartment is super ,super small. In addition, many times I don't have time to eat on time because of my job.I have 5 more years to turn 62 and i moved to new York when i was 18 years old. I can't wait because i feel burned out. God bless you and Chris.
batman this can be accomplished in a place like DR especially santiago in particular. It is very convenient. since it is affordable and distances are perfect meaning not too far. transportation is cheap and u dont even need a car since u could call delivery for food or taxi uber. City is super clean especially now santiago looks like a diamond now. weather is great. sunny blue skies. u dont really need A/C but u need a fan. u can buy a house without those nasty taxes or HOA fees. you can rent a house in nice area $200 forget about taxes or HOA. make your money really count. dont waste on taxes or HOA. use money wisely you can live with pennies if u choose the right place. this is almost impossible in USA where everything is a "STANDARD" everybody pays the same and there is no escape to the system. always travel so your mind can see that there is a world outside USA.
Nice channel, Mills. Cost of travelling: it's really cheap. I get from Cabarete, a small surfer village in the province of Puerto Plata, to Cap Haitien in Haiti at 10 USD, to Santo Domingo at 10 USD, to Port-au-Prince in Haiti at 20 USD. Travelling inside Haiti with taptaps is even cheaper, about half the price of guaguas in the DR.
are u planning to stay in USA? or come back? is him adapting to US? do he miss his Santiago? Is it possible that you come to live here at some point?. I see people renting houses in nice places near villa olga 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms for $200 i see prices in US now 1,400 for a small apartment then electric and other services its too expensive. I would say it is hard for a Santiaguero to move away and stay there, they almost always want to move back especially if the guy was a family cared man.

Hi! no, locals do need to either get their own insurance or through their job. they can also pay cash at hospitals and clinics and for their medicine which is very common.

Great video! I have some questions ... Is it hard to find a place with air conditioning over there? And if you have it, how much more would it cost to use it often?
Thank you! Hm depends on how nice the place is, it may include a unit! I didn’t use mine much because I’m cheap lol but if you don’t run it all the time it should only add about $20 per month I think!
Hey! I tip the food delivery like 50 pesos at least. Sometimes 100. 50 for the grocery store but I also always loaded my car myself typically. Tip at the salon, 10-15%, restaurants we tip 20% too even with the taxes because they don’t split that up properly. Sometimes if you’re out someone will “watch” your car even if you didn’t ask lol so you can give them like 25 pesos for that.
Hi! Honestly that is hard to answer because it depends on what area you are in! I think generally rent is at least 25% cheaper, likely more if you're not in the nicest areas!

Hey I did a video! It’s all about healthcare in the DR. I suggest private clinics when you can. Humano insurance was pretty good. It may not be the same level of care but there are some great doctors. Make sure you advocate for yourself too! luckily they have most specialists you need depending what city you’re in. The medications are very easy to get too lots are over the counter.
You have to understand that all cities are like that. Sto Dgo have almost half of the population of the nation. Is like you living in NYC and then move to North Carolina, Dakota, Georgia. In NYC a studio can cost you now $1,100-$1250 depends on the zip code.

So basically the cost of living is not balanced with the average salary. A single person could not survive on their income and afford the basics and yet some how they do. How is that possible ?
Carmen Reina del Sol it’s pretty rare for single people to live alone in the DR. Families stay together much longer and contribute to the bills together. If they’re not married they live at home. But if someone is single and living alone they either stick to the basics or their job pays more. I know people in santiago making much more than the average, depending on their career.
