Honestly it seems hella difficult to find rts games without this channel. I have no idea why but, you can't really just search anything anywhere to get clear results on this. I really don't know what we would do without you :)
Thank you for that praise! It is not easy because these people don't have money for marketing. And most big companies don't want to invest in them and help them with that. So it is up to us to help each other, content creators and game developers. And honestly cutting out the middle man, publishers, would be a big win considering most are not giving indie devs good deals.
Thanks for featuring Annihilate the Spance! We're really glad the game's early access launch has been received so well... more content to come soon. Some really cool games featured here; I'm looking forward to RTS Fest. It's nice to see RTS making such a big comeback lately, especially among indies - lots of innovation and variety on display here.
Hey! Thank you for all your hard work and I am glad it has been well received, I am sorry I haven't published a video on your game too but it will be out soon. Too many developers decided to release before Tempest Rising :) And I don't blame them. The genre is getting hot and I just hope it also expands to new audiences!

A mighty great list ! Thank you :) Calyx is not ready and it keeps freezing and crashing otherwise it looks like a great game but it's definitely not ready. So many RTS, it's hard to keep track of them now but I certainly won't complain. It's just already hard to get to play the ones you want so the less interesting ones will need to amp up the fight to make themselves known.
Hi and thank you for your supportive comment and for sharing your experience with Calyx. It is nothing strange or unexpected. It will be better with time and more spotlight on it will help developers find funding or a publisher.
added most to my “Wish I had enough to time to play list”, also known as the “Wishlist”, aka games that I might play after all the games that I already paid for….
I have already supported the game financially and will definitely continue to support it because I want to see new units and much more. This game will put Blizzard in its pocket.
Nobody notice that Tactical Warfare @12:02 is Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 with some slight alterations? I mean just in this short clip I see the Soviet Apocalypse Tank that looks more like it's build queue image, a stylised version of the Allied Battle Lab, The Allied Airfield type design for Harriers (with 6 pads instead of 4) and I saw a glimpse of a ship that looked a bit like the Soviet Dreadnought. All that is excluding a VERY similar map design & movement/control visuals.
Oh I have. Since long time ago when I first showcased the game and its demo on my channel. But no one cares if they take many elements as inspiration if the game plays good. Just look at The Scouring.
Huh, it's my first time seeing Annihilate the Spance, by that looks a *lot* like the Obliterate Everything series from back in the day. I wonder if it's the same dev. It even kind of has the same vibe with the naming.
We aren’t the same devs who made Obliterate Everything (that game was made by CW Wallis, who sadly passed away a couple of years ago), but ATS is directly inspired by it and has similar gameplay.
@@Owlfeathers0117 Well I have to say, i just tried the demo and you'll have a customer. You guys are doing Obliterate Everything justice! It's a nice surprise to see that people are keeping alive at least some of the old Flash games that got taken down.
Ah. I was wondering when you would find out about the sidescrolling title, Realms of Madness, as I had found out about it almost a week ago. But you found it! I really hope for Tempest Rising to be good. But I'd be cautious as its developer is a bad game designer, especially with their past independent FPS titles.
Hi and thx for sharing your thoughts on these games with me. Yeah, actually the developers of Realms of Madness reached out to me. I think you will be impressed with Tempest Rising!
I don't like the look of Powerplay but I l do love the concept. Mindustry is one of my favorite games ever but I can't keep playing that forever so still hope something like that comes to the market with some better graphs. (I know Mindustry is a tower defence but you can make units so it would work as an RTS)
I'll definitely will be playing Tempest Rising and Red Chaos with my available free time. Feels bad to other RTS because many of them looks fun, alas I can only handle 2 of a time.
I've already tried "The Scouring", unfortunately, not my cup of tea. 1) too little construction space 2) units costing food all the time, meaning they're an expense whenever they're idle 3) night time NPC raids which combined with limited construction space are a nuisance. 4) Artillery is worthless unless tower-mounted and can't attack buildings. 5) the annoying healing potion mechanic 6) unit preservation combined with swarming tactics. Dawn of War II is about unit preservation and leveling, but you command a lot fewer.
Hi and thank you very much for sharing your thoughts on The Scouring! Those are all good points and I know they have been raised by players on their discord and Steam discussion boards. The game is still very incomplete. As for the construction space do cut more trees and expand into the other empty zones around gold mines.
@@perafilozof Global Conflagration plays really smooth and is my favorite demo so far. I'm also playing Tempest Rising and Red Chaos. Waiting for Zerospace to become available, not sure why its delayed.
Than it is our viewpoint that seems to differ. But when I say Majesty-like I don't mean like it in all aspects. And it isn't even a finished game so it can still evolve and change.
If you are going to mention games in development hell. Why not mention a game such as Beyond All Reason that is fully playable thought not feature full yet?
Hi, this wasn't a place for BAR but I do mention BAR every so often in my RTS news and infract will be talking about it in the next one as well. Also I have my own playlist of BAR videos I made so far. ua-cam.com/play/PLRYGjguAn0CEPVfeMlIPrvfYpcFfI4qES.html
My favorite games are RTS, card battlers, and moba but for a while now it's felt dry or same shit different colors in this. Really interested in the mmorts that feels new sadly but I do hope success for those developers but all the games that feel like command and conquer feel like people trying to catch lightning in a bottle instead of breaking new ground. I did play the tempest demo and liked it but seeing every other game try that same style feels like a case of overwhelming. For the other two game types I enjoy they too suffer from copy catting and repeating the same formula without breaking from the shadow of the others like them.
You do have a good point. Many developers keep to the old formula, or innovate just a bit. On the other hand, when they do innovate a lot... it is usually not well received. This is the paradox of RTS gamers, they say they want something different, but when someone makes something different they are not lining up to play it.
@@perafilozof You're right about trying something new. I will say this for sure most of my choices are made with a demo of a game. The reason more so is a tight budget at most I've spent less then a 100 dollars last year even with game sales that where a great deal. Two factors keep me locked up would be time and money anything else is box art cover if the game looks brain dead or ugly. It's hard for me to lose 5 dollars when I need to stretch that dollar. For now I'm stuck with free time in factorio or against the storm. Waiting more for tempest as it seems to control my interest.

Hi and thanks for sharing your impressions. I hope you will enjoy many of the trailers. And when you have time please explain a bit more on what you mean about the movement? Do you mean how the units travel/glide over terrain?
@@perafilozof hi, thanks for putting these trailers together! With inverse kinematics i'm refering to RTS game design in which units are represented by dots or selection spheres and are not subject to physical constraints. When the player moves a unit, they move the selection sphere. The 3D model and animations of the unit then try to make this movement appear plausible. It's not the kinematics which determine where a unit can move to or what it can aim/fire at, but this movement is reconstructed from the game logic determening that the unit moves or fires in a certain way. The movement of the retreating tank at 2:14 is an extreme example of that. With physics based movement on the other hand, where a unit can move to, if and how quickly it can turn around or accelerate are determined by physics. The units dot or selection sphere position is deducted from the position and rotation of the 3D model. Physics based movement allows players to 'micro' engagements in RTS. Tanks need time to turn around, they cannot immediatly fire back if their turret is looking the wrong way, a spearman needs time to turn around when engaged from behind, planes and their weaponry are restricted by their constant movement and turn circle, a gunship switching targets will do so quicker when the angular distance between the targets as seen from the gunship is smaller, an Anti-Aircraft System facing the wrong way won't be so quick to engage. With physics based movement, flanking offers an advantage, terrain matters more, distractions work, positioning matters more - the same unit can perform vastly differently in battle based on how it is positioned, being attacked and covered by friendly units.

annihilate the spance looks very cool but it's very overpriced for what it is, a lot of work has gone into it but if the game was half the price I guarantee it would have more than double the current players it has.

@@perafilozof Back in the day i started my RTS journey with games lik KKND2 (doubt much people remember that one), dune 2000, all the C&C games, age of empires and warcraft 3.Now i like playing anno 1800 (played all the old versions too when i was younger) but not sure if it would be called a RTS now days. Also playing a bit of Farthest Frontier, Tropico 6, Manor Lords but i guess they are the city building genre and not RTS.
@ the godsworn offers nothing new,so many years passed from warcraft 3 ,and they still offering the fighting like a wooden dummies,i mean look a this battles in god sworn, its like time is paused from warcraft 3.The battle realms was so inovative because of they way units are fighting there,it looks like proper asian army fight from the movie, plus evolution system of units, rhen dawn of war showed us that some units that are ranged, can have different animation in melee, and theres system of range and melee combat for each unit, plus cover system, plus flying away from hits and explotions, animation gor executions and its an old rts, thats the game that offered something new.Or world war 2 game the resistence, where you could evacuate cre from tank,or repair it,and if i remember every tank had ammo, thats innovative, plus grapfik was dope there for its time. The gates of pyre i will try it then, cant say about it.thank you.
Most of these games are almost the same - with only small differencess... Literally in most of RTS games now, only thing is you need is more units.. There is not tactics or thought needed, just make blobs. This is so f*cking boring...
@@perafilozof They are the same games. I do not see the appeal honestly. Almost all these games come down to making bigger blob than the enemy... and thats really it? There is no tactics, not planning. Nothing rly, except sending units forward to the enemy. Also every unit is a sponge for damage, which is 90's domain and should not be 2025. Come on.

Not exactly a whole game. But a fantastic demo that is 100% true. Can't wait for the developers to finish it
@perafilozof Play The Scouring every day.
I have already supported the game financially and will definitely continue to support it because I want to see new units and much more. This game will put Blizzard in its pocket.
Hehe, fantastic!
That is amazing! Great to hear!
@@chrisjackson1215 Thank you!
You gotta watch my channel more my friend :) I have shown it many times over the years and will be posting a big video about it soon.
Its happening. We back boys 🎉
We are sooo back in 2025! This is the year! Thank you for the comment! Enjoy the fest!
Calyx is pretty good. it's different but 100% has good potential.
Yeah, we will see, I have only just learned of it and need to look into it more. Thx for the comment!
As a fan of the Creeper World games, Calyx gives me the feels.
I tried the Welcome Back Commander demo. It reminds me of a bit of a flash game in a way, in the best possible way
That is perfect to hear! Thank you very much for sharing your impression! Enjoy the fest and let me know which games you end up playing the most!
@perafilozof will do, if my brain remembers
@@RedGreekWolf does it remind you of the "awaken front line" flash game by any chance?
@ConradProteus I don't think I ever played that one. Either that or the memory is so far back in my brain that's it's got a mountain of dust on it
Having hope for this year
With Tempest Rising fronting the year and many game developers publishing their games ahead of it it will be make or break year for RTS.
@@perafilozof Even a couple or so big success would mean great things for the genre imo.
thank you so much
No, you are the one in need of our thanks for all your hard work!
No DORF? Wanted to try this one.
Hi, too soon. I talked to the developers, they are hard at work.
Cluck and conquer is an unexpected gem
It sure looks interesting. I will look into it more as well
Ah. I was wondering when you would find out about the sidescrolling title, Realms of Madness, as I had found out about it almost a week ago. But you found it!
I really hope for Tempest Rising to be good. But I'd be cautious as its developer is a bad game designer, especially with their past independent FPS titles.
Oh, Calyx has bioorganism. That's unique. Very few RTS titles like that.
Yeah, that is really unique!
Thank you for sharing your impressions of it and your experience with Mindustry. I must admit I never played that one. I will look it up
I'll definitely will be playing Tempest Rising and Red Chaos with my available free time. Feels bad to other RTS because many of them looks fun, alas I can only handle 2 of a time.
Thank you for sharing your favorites. I hope you do
Me duele que halla sufrido un retraso significativo por un descuido, quería sacar la demo pero ahora toca reponerme😢
Lamento escuchar eso. Pero siempre puedes publicarlo más tarde y lo mencionaré en mis videos de noticias RTS.
great insight
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it, and let me know in a few days which demo you enjoyed the most.
Zero Space demo appears in Steam search but no demo on linked page, Jan 20 is here and gone in most of the world.
Hello! From their discord: the demo / rts-fest version isnt out yet, it'll be a different download (steam rules)
Last Outpost looks like an obvious reskin of Thronefall. Not that I dislike it, just wanted to note that.
Hi and thank you for the comment! You are not the first to say that. What other games from the RTS fest are you interested in?
@@perafilozof Definitely Tempest Rising is my MVP of the fest. Once I heard the Frank Klepacki's OST I immediately felt 15 years younger!
I've already tried "The Scouring", unfortunately, not my cup of tea.
1) too little construction space
2) units costing food all the time, meaning they're an expense whenever they're idle
3) night time NPC raids which combined with limited construction space are a nuisance.
4) Artillery is worthless unless tower-mounted and can't attack buildings.
5) the annoying healing potion mechanic
6) unit preservation combined with swarming tactics.
Liquidation has a demo!
Just added it to the pinned comment and description! Thank you! What demo during RTS Steam fest are you playing, besides Liquidation?
@@perafilozof Global Conflagration plays really smooth and is my favorite demo so far. I'm also playing Tempest Rising and Red Chaos.
Waiting for Zerospace to become available, not sure why its delayed.
@adamsanchez222 ZeroSpace devs uploaded a Demo but Steam sent it back for some reason
Highly Recommend Beyond All Reason to anyone who likes rts at all
Indeed! I recommend it to everyone too and have started making videos about it ! ua-cam.com/play/PLRYGjguAn0CEPVfeMlIPrvfYpcFfI4qES.html
I'm wondering what happened to Warpaws.
You and me both. But I think it is on pause until Tempest Rising becomes a hit and brings back the invested money.
@@perafilozof I hope if that will be the case. I really liked SWINE when I was a child and this could be a true successor to that game.
To me it always looked closer to Z game.
Some demos are not showing up on steam
Yes, because they will go live on the 20th. No tall are available already.
I recommend you check out Project 37)))
Hi and thank you for the recommendation! It is in the pinned comment and description. I will be showing it in my next RTS news video.
Dratfall is more "They are bilions" than "Majesty"
You might be right. Their gameplay has been changing recently. Thank you for the comment!
@perafilozof I played a demo some months ago
Than it is our viewpoint that seems to differ. But when I say Majesty-like I don't mean like it in all aspects. And it isn't even a finished game so it can still evolve and change.
Rts fest is cool
First time and I hope it becomes an annual event! Thx for the comment, remember to share your favorite demos with us.
@@perafilozof Thank you for the reply. I got recommended this video and don't normally watch a lot of RTS videos, so did not know that.
No problem, I guess it is a good time to start watching my channel and look at my previous videos as well.
Let's go.
Indeed! Enjoy the fest, some demos are already playable!
tempest let's gooooooooooooooooo!
Hehe, indeed! Great game in the making and I hope everyone will love it!
Thank you for the reply! Against the Storm is one of the best games I have ever played.
Also Trade Conquest!
Huh? I have to Google that one. Thank you

So many games with inverse kinematics instead of physics based movement :(
How do i not like any of these presented games as an RTS player? :/
Ah I see, that is what I assumed, but wasn't sure. That is a hell of a good explanation. I might use that in my future videos if you are ok with it.
@ sure, no need to quote or attribute me, i'm just a random on the internet
I want a dawn of war 2

Last outpost is literally a thronefall clone lol
Hmm, Thronefall? I would have to look into that. Thx for telling me.
@ great little game!
Nothing close to something like battlerealms and wh dawn of war, just bunch of tanks and futuristik tanks, and more tanks, and everything so primitive.
How is Immortal: Gates of Pyre not good for you then? Also Godsworn will have a demo during the RTS steam fest.
