    Nice rundown mate, just looking into setting this of thing up myself so this was useful 👍 Oh and btw, seeing as you weren't sure, Seismic = "size-mick" as in earthquakes etc

    Any issues/concern with quality of the Monoprice snake ? I believe these are Aluminum Copper Clad vs full copper.

    Hey, great video! I’m in the process of acquiring parts to build an IEM rig based around an X32 rack mixer. I also bought two S8-3way splitters. I have a couple of Sennheiser G4 wireless units and still need to get a couple of more things before the rack is complete and usable.
    Since I’ve never used a rig like this before, what is the typical protocol when it comes to connecting to FOH. Do I bring my own 16 XLR cable snake that I plug into the other split outputs on the S8 and hand the labeled tails to the sound guy or do they use their own cable snake to plug into my S8 splitters?
    Thanks man, and keep it up!

      Thanks for the kind words! And that’s awesome that you are building your own IEM rig as well! In regards to sending your split signal to the FOH there is a couple of ways to do it, you can either have a labeled patchbay where front of house plugs into it with there own cables or do a labeled 16 channel snake like you mentioned above. There is no right or wrong answer just whichever works best for you and is the most efficient. 🤘

      @@NoahHirschy Right on, I appreciate the reply! Yeah, that’s what I was thinking but wanted to hear from someone who is already using this sort of rig. I wasn’t sure if the FOH guy would expect me to hand him tails already connected to my splits or he’d use his own cables to plug into our rig.
      Like you said, there’s probably not a right or wrong way, just whichever works best for everyone. Thanks again!! 🤘🏻

      @@Jason-Taylor While I agree with both of you on whichever works, I would actually advise on having your own 5m labeled channel snake just in case: It can work for either having a guaranteed solution for the FOH split signal from your own rack or you can use it as a low-profile stage channel-labeled patchbay going to your rack hidden behind something while your own rack can be off stage (faster loading/unloading time which can make a world of difference for the previous or next band of the event).

    Quick question, why do you have a patch bay in the back for FOH to plug into when the S8 3-way has outputs in the front?

    • @NoahHirschy
      @NoahHirschy  Рік тому

      Personal preference, there is already a bunch of cables going into the front of the rack through the S8 splitters so having a dedicated spot in the back to send the signals to the FOH is just cleaner and a bit easier for me. This also leaves the extra splits in the front available in case you wanted to send the signals elsewhere (perhaps another interface for some high quality multitracking 🤷‍♂️).

      @@NoahHirschy Thanks for replying! Was just curious. That’s what’s fun about all this, is the many possibilities, love to hear it. Awesome build 👍🏽

      The rack mount unit is the transmitter and the modules you place the batteries in is the receiver pack.

      Nope, the gear in this build doesn’t run very hot thankfully.

    So it basically one ears 👂 # mono .. am I correct?
    Because a mono can turn into stario. Diy

      Mono as in same audio is being played in both ears, vs a stereo system where you can adjust what you hear in each ear separately.

    Nice except you have to change the batteries when the receiver dies out, thats why i bought this one that includes a 5VDC out >>>>>ua-cam.com/video/Ic2pKRAGT7s/v-deo.html
