What’s that? Quarantine brought you here? Yep, same here buddy. Its amazing how this guy knows how to explain what’s not normal back then and is normal now right at this year 2020. A pioneer of high frame rate and vlogging
For a person like me who doesnt have an idea of what FPS is or how FPS works this is really helpful :) Downloaded the file and now know the difference between 30 and 60 fps
Just got the WX100 and for some reason I remembered your comment lol. I'll have a review up in a couple of weeks due to finals coming up soon. Without getting into extensive detail though, the quality for picture and video is the same. That's actually a good thing since both are amazing cameras. As mentioned I'll go over the differences when I have time.
Well Explained. So he seemed a touch nervous, and the casual editing was a little rough, but he through some of his personality in, and he got the subject point across. 100%. So his technique was a tad laggy( lol)= 6/10, but the reason for the Video= 10/10
Appreciate the honest feedback. Guess it's easy to tell it's one of my earlier videos, haha. I'm glad the information was passed along easily, it was ultimately my main goal.
Oh man, my computer couldn't even run the file at full speed, my FPS was reading ~40ish, hehe..Time for an upgrade I think. Thanks again, while it's a simple concept, you really went out of your way to explain it. I'm pretty exited to check out your other videos =)
NO NO NO I did what you said and played the 60 FPS video then watched the UA-cam and it does look slower. My mind hurts now D: Anyways, great vid :) I knew a good bit about FPS already, but actually seeing it in increments really helped me understand what is going on.
Sorry for the delay, been busy with uni. FPS has nothing to do with the speed of the object being recorded. You can record a person standing still in high fps. You can only achieve high fps if your camera allows it. For ex: Trying to convert a 24fps video into 60fps wouldn't be true 60fps, because it has to be recorded in 60fps in the first place. 60fps cameras are very rare for some reason, even $4000 don't record 1080p at 60fps.
Then it doesn't matter, not big deal. It's essential for video creators and video editors to know though. For other people it's just nice to expand their knowledge. PC gamers try to aim to have their games play back at 60fps for smooth game play.
so this is what destiny 2 is going to look like on pc. oh my god the colors. the smoothness. my eyes are getting high off of the quality lol this is awesome man
Ohh, he must be talking about those movies back in the 2000's that were super "high definition" yeah man. Those movies did trip my eye, but now I miss it.
Slow motion won't make 60fps turn to 30fps per say, because it depends on slow you make the slow motion ex. 2x slow motion, 4x slow motion etc. However, you are correct, slow motion would be smoother with a video recorded at 60fps then it would at say 24fps.
You explained that well. So my fps would be high if i were to shoot for instance a car race? I guess im more confused as to when would i ever shoot anything lower than 24fps.I also just purchased a canon T3i I noticed that it had the FPS option and so does final cut pro x would i keep the same settings ?oR WOULD i change it to make certain adj and if so could you pretty plz state an example . Im sure there are others wondering the same
Hi brother love the video helped me loads. Please answer this question. why is 24 fps considered best for shooting movies?? or is it best to stick to 30fps?
+Jondab Artist 24fps just became the cinematic standard after years of movie releases. If you watch a 48fps or 60fps movie it would look like people are moving in fast forward mode even though it's more realistic, after a few minutes of watching it your eyes and brain would get used to it. People just became accustomed to 24fps and since people hate change, Hollywood decided to keep it that way which is a little unfortunate.
+Babbling Boolean Is this why some shows, videos, news soap operas, etc. seem to look "cheap" even though they seem smoother? I'm just more used to 24 used for major movies and shows? Or is there some actual psychological or biological reason that less smooth is preferred for the big movies?
I thought the higher the frame rate, the more it slows down. Meaning when you shoot in a very low FPS it looks like everything is moving very fast, but when you shoot in 60 FPS its like slow motion video.
That's pretty good but I would change low to 11-23 and Normal to 24-30 since most TV shows and movies for example play back between 24 and 30. Basically any camera that is 31fps or above is rare and difficult to find since people are used to generally 30fps.
Not many things explained in this video. I can’t remember how familiar with fps most people was back in 2012 but now in 2021 this video doesn’t looks too useful. Yes, frames pes second is actually how many “images” per second your camera can capture and playback. But before mobiles phones of 2012, this concept was used for years in animated movies. Animators wanted to make thing look “moving” but also achieving that with the minimum amount of work. So they figured out that 6 sketches per second (6fps) was close enough but 12fps was actually better, giving them smoother animation. After that some big studios (like Disney) that had the budget decided to animate in 24fps for even smoother animations. And that was the standard form movies for many years. As for how many fps we can see… Although we see with our eyes, we perceive “motion” (and vision in general) with our brains. So even with slow fps our brain tries to “interpret” a motion pattern, after about 12fps it “sees” a continuous motion and after about 24fps a “smooth” motion. Of course we can see movies with 30, 60 120 or more fps but this doesn’t mean that if you put a black frame in a 60fps movie your brain will be able to “see” it. Some people may actually see because don’t all brains work the same, but most brains will “discard” the frame that didn’t “match” the rest of the animation. This was actually a common think in old movies and animations, adding a “random” image inside the movie without no one noticing, just for fun. There even were experiments on this subject, on how many brains can “see” this images (subconsciously) and if you can pass messages to people without them knowing. The main reason why we don’t have many 60fps or 120fps movies is because with lower fps (24) the cameras can capture images with more motion blur witch is perceived by our brains as smoother motion. On the other hand 60fps gives crispier images witch seem to us as more “digital”. But we can always capture in 120, 240 or more fps and play them back in 24fps to achieve a “smooth” slow motion effect. That’s all for now. Maybe someone else can add to my comments. And maybe we can come back in 8-10 years to add more things.
You rock dude, thanks so much for this video. The comparisons you did really helped, it was nice to see the differences contrasted =) I guess there's probably a limit to the FPS the human brain can conceive anyway; I wonder what that is..Thanks again, buddy =)
Awesome Video! Downloaded the 60fps file and its amazing quality. Do you know if there are any drawbacks in recording in a higher fps other than the fast forward effect?
So I am curious...I have shot motorcycle footage with a GoPro, and noticed sometimes the "trees" will be somewhat blurred at times. Is that a fps issue that UA-cam has brought down to 30fps or is that a resolution problem? I shoot all my vids in 60fps for my MotoVlogs, however...I never edit and "slow" things down. Am I wasting space really by doing this? Thanks...great vid!
+MemphisMike Recently UA-cam increased their fps cap to 60 (after my my video was made). In that regard I'm not sure what might be causing the issue then. It's certainly not a resolution issue, that has nothing to do with how "blurred" or "smooth" the picture is. There's something else going on, you'll have to double check if your original clip is indeed at 60fps and your UA-cam upload settings.
FPS tells how many pictures there are that are lined up to appear per second. You can show 1 picture per second or 10. The resolution in each picture is something totally different and has no effect on fps. You can take UHD pictures and still make them appear 1 picture per second! The images will have extremely high quality but the motions will look awkward. Resolution refers to image quality. FPS refers to the number of images that appear in one second only. (fps in still cameras refers to the number of pictures that can be shot in a second so it is not relevant in this context)
True but fps was already explained in this video. Too lazy to make another video explaining the same thing just to show 60fps, this video works :P Besides there's a 60fps video link in the description.
Right. didn't see it. Sorry. One thing. Can one update a video and not lose its views? I mean, to lengthen the video some 30 seconds, idk, and maintain the views?
Hi babbling boolean and Everyone else here Im starting a beauty youtube channel I have a Nikon d7500 I am really confused about what frame rate should I use 24, 30 ,or 60? if anyone could guide ill be really grateful thanks :)
Finally it's an 8years old video that has explained it well. Thanks bro

Maybe because of his eric cartman impression.
10 years later and still helpful!

You were the most helpful in explaining this on the internet in the last 30mins. Keep it up.
Most movies are shown in 24 FPS
Thoma really?
Peachy Pound yes
@@peachypound6108 it is 24 or somewhere around 24 because of the older TVs limitations
25FPS is SD (Standard Definition)
@@atlasdrum TV standards are 25fps (PAL) and 29.97fps (color NTSC).. 24fps is cinema standard..
Thanks Babbling! Examples are always the best way of explaining things. Excellent work.

Yo I really appreciate this I would always see people talking about FPS in game and I’d always be so confused! Now I understand! I’m subscribing.
thanks bro i feel smarter already
am on 2020 now and am pretty lucky this was the first video i clicked on my first search attempt, thank you so much.

😂😂😂 your impression was hilarious!

Thank you for explaining much more clearly.

for some reason the 60 fps got me a bit dizzy when watching it here capped at 30.
M Stephens me too
Nowadays UA-cam on pc I think it handles 60fps too
You could reload it in 60 fps. Which is the new current UA-cam cap for fps. Only on 720 & 1080p though.
Reupload sorry autocorrect
Don't worry about people looking at you. I appreciate you doing this and Im only one of the 136k people who watched this! :D Thanks btw

Awesome Video! Downloaded the 60fps file and its amazing quality. Do you know if there are any drawbacks in recording in a higher fps other than the fast forward effect?
if i shoot the video 24 fps (for normal footage) and 60 fps (for slow motion), How should i render it? Should it be rendered on 60 or 24 fps???
Render it in 24fps. Since the 60fps footage is being slowed down and the other footage is 24fps, then rendering it in 24fps will be best.
