As a native of Delicias Chihuahua, I’m so happy buzzfeed talked about this folktale. Unfortunately the maniquí was taken to a wedding bridal expo and when they returned her she was completely modified. It was something very upsetting but we still till this day cherish her and respect her presence.
I googled the change...her face/ head looks different but her body seems to be the same. The position of the arms are still in the same spot. Was there anything specific they said they changed or why?
@@onyxhydrangea They don’t have any specific to why they changed her. Some say it’s not even the original maniquí but others say they did it for more of a “beauty” look.

Oh my gosh!! I feel for Elena! She suffer through a harsh illness from its time, to her body be abused years after her death! The poor woman deserved to rest in peace!!
The fact that her body was put on display after it was finally recovered is like a slap in the face for her
I’ve been researching the Elena Milagros story and what makes me mad is the town and everyone didn’t treat her human after they found out what happened to her. They allowed her to be an attraction. I believe it has a lot to do with the time of 1930’s and her being a Hispanic woman. She wasn’t seen as a victim. That’s why they were so sympathetic towards that crazy old man.
I went on a haunted tour while I was in Key West and they told a bunch of ghost and creepy stories. This one stuck with me the most out of all of them.
I lived in Florida for 6 months, that place *is* haunted, and *it* makes them crazy.
The Pascualita legend is no longer fiction, a couple of years ago it was found in a convention that the mannequin was an actual real preserved corpse. She was buried and replaced by another mannequin.
Not hating, but source? I heard about the expo but only knew they changed her, not the reason.

It isn't lol why are you spreading misinformation? It was just changed and no embalmed person can stay upright and pretty like that for 8 decades in heat and sunlight. You know you're bullshitting when you can't even provide any source and even people from that region know it was never proven to be a corpse.

Women nowadays are still taught that this kind of attention from a man is desirable. Of course men are still taught that this kind of behavior is OK and that "no means keep asking".
In the UK every school has their own version of the grey lady and I'm considering making our story more unique by putting a lot of effort and fake history into it. Hopefully one day I will be able to create a disturbing legend for someone to spread around my old school.

The Tanzler case was in 1940. $1 back then was equal to roughly $10 (or more) today. The family had to deal with the expense of a new burial and possibly legal expenses.
A UA-camr named Jon Solo actually has a video going over folklore that may have inspired the "Corpse Bride" movie. There are two tales going back hundreds of years that you might find interesting.

I think it was that old show about the morgue stories or something. I can't remember exactly. But the evidence goes much deeper and it's really disgusting what he did. I almost couldn't stomach it, and I love gore, horror, mysteries, paranormal, ect. But it definitely was rough.

when I was little we used to tell this story about this guy who had a creature like murdering his dogs or something maybe he was hunting i dont know. he shot at it and shot its tail right off. So he took the tail home made it into stew I think and the creature came back requesting its tail ,with some saying i dont think it was in english, day after day night after night until it killed him..or he turned into the creature. I used to tell the story all the time to my friends who would hunt. but its been a hot minute, clearly.
