you keep implying that blue lock denies teamwork completely, which is simply not true. ego's message is that the best egoist striker is the one who leads the team and is the sole star with everyone else being support actors, ie teamwork. barou was wrong because he wanted to do everything by himself instead of taking advantage of his teammates, which was pretty much the whole point of the second selection with the whole chemical reaction and devouring thing. case and point, blue lock never promoted something as ridiculous as denying teamwork and being 100% selfish is the best way to play
i do agree that the noa quote in ep 1 is nonsensical and incoherent. he isnt even like that when we see him in the latest arc of the manga

    • @YumesukeSutashika
      @YumesukeSutashika  13 днів тому +4

Blue Lock created a character, Noel Noa, who was better than Messi and Ronaldo, the 2 GOATs of our generation, and had him win the Ballon D'or over them to promote it's theme of selfishness. His quote at 7:11 promotes selfishness over winning. If a made up character is the best player in this world and is used as an example by Ego, the author surrogate, then clearly the author is saying "Play like Noel." Noel would rather lose and score a lot than win and not score. That is selfishness and anti teamwork.
0:17 quote is about scoring "at the expense of your teammates." That is anti teamwork. And then the 0:22 quote is about how the best player is the one who scores the most. If Ego's entire camp is about creating the best striker and Ego believes the best striker scores the most goals, even at the expense of teammates, is it not logical to conclude that Ego believes in selfishness over teamwork? Even the story temporarily acknowledges in Barou's first match. Everyone initially plays selfishly because they want to score the most because of what Ego said. There are even rules that protect the highest scorer on losing teams, which is what Kuon takes advantage of. Scoring the most goals makes Kuon the highest ranked player on his team, even though Ego knew that he colluded with the opponents to score those goals. It's not rocket science.

@@YumesukeSutashika as a bl fan, if i take anything from your criticisms, is that episode 1 is really poorly written and planned out. it seems that the author had the idea that was preached in ep 1 but realized it was terrible and essentialy switched it up

@@YumesukeSutashika just to remind you the whole concept of blue lock itself is to produce a striker on par with noel. and the main concept is by finding an ego. when you say someone has an ego, to an extent it means a selfish way of thought, that also makes them think they are better than the rest.
the whole point of striker in FOOTBALL (saying soccer in and of itself is an insult to football not a fantasy written manga) is to score goals. a goalkeeper prevent goals, a defender defends strikers from passing into the 18 box (goalie box) and midfielders are play makers; they make sure the ball stays in possession while also passing it along to other players primarily other midfielders and the strikers or wingers. if you take the actuality of football into account this show does not insult it.
you say noels speech makes for a selfish style of gameplay, well to an extent it should, not because its how football is player but because he purposefully did so as he was asked to be a trainer in blue lock, meaning he was gonna follow his friends wishes and ultimate goal in producing a striker like him.
in any game sport or video games, the ace of a team is pivotal, they score the most point/kills. that carriers a significant amount of ego itself, but lets not use the word ego in most cases its just pure confidence. these are kids in a manga, they way the author intends to show the meaning of great confidence is by using the words ego, a strong self-belief that they are the best.
criticism is naturally, and i wont say you havent read the manga or watched the anime as a way to demean your argument, clearly you have. however you dont seem to "fully" understand the use of the word ego in terms of this manga.
      -spoiler alert-
a big example of lets say clashing "ego" is michael kaiser and yoichi, noel, purposefully put them in the same line up so they can battle it out, with the condition it doesnt affect the teams overall performance, and with the biggest stipulation which was score goals. the battle still fierce, shows isigai and kaiser learning from one another, they both have individual styles and desires. the whole stealing from each other, which weve seen previously in matches ( a selfish play that you wont see in pro teams but only in blue lock because 1 person will become the best striker) is a way to highlight just how much they want to win. in most cases or in any sport team game the most selfish thing you can do is not pass to your team mate while being over confident in your own ability, which we saw examples of in opening of blue lock games, while other players who were confident enough managed this like rin, to dribble through an entire team to score, or itoshi.
      main point, its fictional.

"Yumesuke's Library, how quaint. You think Blue Lock is a flop? That's cute. Let me enlighten you.
Blue Lock's premise is exaggerated, yes, but that's the point. It's a commentary on the cutthroat world of professional sports, where only the strongest survive. Jinpachi Ego's unorthodox methods may seem cruel, but they're designed to push his players to their limits, to make them realize their true potential.
Ego is the core of the show, and Jinpachi Ego is the master of it. He's not just a coach, he's a mentor, a manipulator, and a mirror reflecting his players' true selves. He's teaching them that ego is not just confidence, but also self-awareness, strategic thinking, and mental toughness.
You see, Yumesuke's Library, Blue Lock is not just a sports anime; it's a psychological thriller, a character study, and a commentary on the human condition. It's a show that makes you uncomfortable, that makes you question your own limits and motivations.
So, no, Blue Lock is not a flop. It's a masterpiece, a work of art that will leave you breathless and questioning everything. And if you can't handle the heat, then maybe you should stick to your mediocre analysis and leave the real thinking to those of us who can handle the truth. ( short answer basically you said things that made some sense in some way but the whole point of bluelock is survival of the fittest the exaggeration in the show I understand but from my perspective of the show it's meant to be about pushing past ur limits but also remembering that there are people who are better than you out there but that shouldn't be the reason you stop also btw this is my own personal view of the show it's the reason I'm a semi pro football /soccer player aight peace✌)

Your conclusion of viewing it through the lens of a battle manga vs sports manga is interesting, and makes a lot of sense given how much has to be simplified for the ability system.

In my opinion from the start i theorized that the authors plan was that by the end of the show Ego and the blue lock players would come to a middle ground basically saying that he isn’t completely wrong but that 100% selfishness is gonna be more harmful then anything so to say the author has bad righting when we haven’t seen how he’s gonna end it yet is kinda short sighted, the idea could be to have 2 extremes collide for the perfect combo players for Japanese football

Somehow, the criticisms of the 1st selection video are also here, where in this case, appear more egregious. I will only speak about 2-3 of these, as they probably are the main points.
The argument about “Ego’s philosophy is wrong because because players use teamwork” is not the actual point. Since the 1st selection, it has been said that an exceptional strikers is the one that scores goals and leads the entire team into winning. Meaning 1-3 people are the scorers and the others are the supporters (All the team in the 1st selection arc were made of different team systems). What he means by “selfish striker” is one that only cares about himself scoring goals and being the center of the team. Barou’s case was wrong because his personality was the problem with him. By “losing” to Isagi, he evolved. To the point where he now can score goals at a better way.
The way the characters play by only formulas and chemical reactions makes sense, considering what are they actually. Unlike professional players at European clubs, these guys are high-schoolers that aren’t used to the professional environment. The only exception is Rin, where he has a lot more than just “Spatial Awareness”, because he’s a genius.
I won’t spoil much, but in the latest arc, where the characters play in prestigious European clubs, the “Masters” have way better physicalities, and frankly better ways of playing. They don’t just shoot, but also dribble, trap, pass, etc., something that is incapable for these high-schoolers at their current level.
At last, I’m glad you are comparing this to Ao Ashi and Catenaccio, cause it means that you still are missing the point of Blue Lock.
Blue Lock isn’t a sport anime that consists of just matches. It is a battle royale, where players are being forced to change their ideology of playing football. Instead of sticking to Japan’s way, Ego wants to mimic how Europe’s mindset plays, cause it is clearly superior. Meaning BL is more akin to a shonen battle rather than a typical football match, especially with the “chemical reactions”, “formulas” and “Reflex” (this will be revealed in the 2nd season).

While I don't always agree with Yumesuke, he at least argues his points with good context rooted in the source material. Yumesuke is always going to rub people the wrong way because he argues frankly with little room for interpretation.
I haven't seen Blue Lock so I don't really stand on either side of the issue. But when a story implements a teacher or master character that has some degree of legitimate authority over the cast, the author is essentially using them as a means to espouse the main ideas of the narrative, *OR* the main ideas of the system that the story will be using. Sometimes, the author can use these teacher/master characters to deliberately teach bad or misguided views ie: Terry Silver from The Karate Kid 3.
By using a master/teacher character at all, Blue Lock is committing to portraying some semblance of philosophy or ideology within the work. There are only 3 routes that can branch from this:
      1. Blue Lock uses Ego to teach good values of how to play Fútbol because the author understands the game to some level
      2. Blue Lock uses Ego to teach poor values on purpose so that the characters and by extension, the audience, can learn what these bad values are then work to correct them by changing Ego's and the other characters' mindsets with character development and narrative arcs, or by foiling him with a better master/teacher character (ie: Master Roshi vs Master Shen)
      3. Blue Lock uses Ego to teach good values of how to play Fútbol, but doesn't understand the game, that his messages are farcical when they're not intended to be, doesn't realise that the themes don't match the storylines, or all of the above.
The best you could argue is that Blue Lock is using method 2, and is poorly implementing it into the story, but with Yumesuke's arguments, it feels like it might unfortunately be 3.

@@kylefields3951 Brilliant breakdown. I forgot to put it tin the script, but I strongly believe that Ego is the audience surrogate. Most to All of Ego's opinions are the author's opinions (maybe slightly exaggerated). I believe the author thinks he's in route 1, but like you said, I think he's in route 3. Some fans think he's in route 2, but I think that's coping because there isn't enough evidence for that.
