Love WPS - real hand to hand combat applications with defense of a firearm using an blade/edged weapon. I used to carry two blades on me but my wife complained calling me a psychopath as well .. "Rowing the boat" wristlock to arm bar with shoulder torque is a work of art - beautiful!
Make me Glad my wife carries 2 push daggers 2 pistols and is a Black Belt with 20 years exp and 50 years as a trick shooter she never called me a psychopath for carrying or keeping supplies in our cars thank God. I don't know how I take to someone wanting me to carry less self defense equipment or medical supplies, EMS 28 years, when you see bad thinks and have look into the face of evil you tend to prepare for the worst, now we are retired and still carry 24/7/365 even at home, still train with firearms everyday that the advantage of being retired and we don't have to go into the dangerous parts of the city any more the only problem is when your old you can't fight as well as some one in the prime of life. Even with that train every little bit helps never give up stay safe stay armed.
@@TACTICALNOMAD My wife is the polar opposite of myself, in nearly all things including politics. I feel you though, it wasn't until I moved out of NYC did I stop carrying two blades. I don't see the need for it given where I live now that I can legally carry a gun.

The mount defense was dope! Ju jitsu with a knife, trapping the leg and arm while rolling on the same side is poetry in motion. Appreciate the great work and vid!
@@AmirKhillah Most welcome, and thank you as well! Always great to see subject matter experts sharing their knowledge to help keep everyone as safe as possible! John and yourself are awesome guys!
I've told you before John, we never stop learning. I was enthralled by this. I have this video saved and I watch it frame by frame. In my 65+yrs of training and shooting NEVER have I included a blade. I feel like an idiot! It's OK now, you've shown me my errors I will never forget to keep this a part of my training and equipment. Thanks. God Bless America🇺🇸
I like the fact that when you went to deploy your tool, you dropped the knife from your left hand. Alot of people might forget to drop what's in thier support hand.
UNCLE!! Rofl! I loved the change in video content here. Not all gun, but some very real possible encounters. The cuff technique was slick! Yes...bring Amir back in the future please!
Amir and you work very well together. Please do more videos with him!!!! I'm prepping a knife order here soon, I may want to get one of those too!! Thank you both, so very much for this refresher. I haven't thought about that in years!!!
Love the video, respect the hell out of you John. Been watching your stuff for years. I would say as far as open carry wise and someone thats rocking a battle belt and in combat expecting contact, this is perfect. I do however respectfully disagree with several parts in the context of how it would be handled in EDC/Concealed Carry Scenario. That being said most respectful way possible and would love to discuss my points further with you if you'd allow it.
One time this trainer said to me, "Hell son just cause your ready for a gunfight don't mean there'll be one....it might just turn out to be an ass whoopin'. The other guy might not like guns and he also has a say....." I NEVER forgot that. These type's of videos really do bring up important stuff to be aware of. It will always go hands on after escalation and not straight to guns always. I have always carried a blade even when a firearm was not an option, and both are the best system. I'm no one special but I have seen a scrap or two and this stuff is dead on point. Thank's Mr. Lovell and bad-ass other guy. Good stuff indeed.
Great vid, I learned something useful today. I carry a fixed blade and a pocket knife also but I have to deploy with my strong hand, I’m gonna reconfig and train weak side.
Awesome video John...i carry a Fox 479 everyday and also other times i carry the Clinch Pick...and you already know I absolutely Love it and highly recommend it to everyone.. looking forward to your next video Thanks so much for what you do...and God Bless all of Us.
Wow enjoyed the new tactics of hand-to-hand combat and also how to protect your firearm with a knife as a back up or is it alternative source to defend yourself. Thank you for the information greatly appreciate it hope to see further UA-cam videos
Great insight and training!!! Love the comedy incorporated with seriousness!!!😂 The move and technique makes me cringe because of the 'efficient fatality' of it!!! Hopefully any bad guy out there would think twice trying to grab a good guy's weapon, open or concealed! Thank you both for sharing your expertise!!!
John got in some Over the Top "hat switch" action (yes, Im dating myself). Great video, informative and well explained as always. Keep up the good work and thank you for all the work you put in.
Great video, be sure to train this a couple million times so it natural. Oh and remember, in a knife fight you will get cut so get used to it and carry your IFAC
Outstanding! I mainly keep a dagger accessible by either hand in the event of a rear naked choke and/or my gun is out of the fight. These are great alternatives that crossed my mind, but never practiced scenarios like this.
This was an awesome video! The more i watch WPS the more I am willing to join. How ever my extra money is going to prepping for my family and myself for SHTF the US in on the brink of really dark times.
Great video. This reinforces my habit of carrying my knife on my off side. We were taught weapons retention in the academy and I figured it's best to cut the hands off of the duty weapon. Even retired I still carry my knife off side. Thanks for sharing.
John One of the last times you had someone show you how to hip fire at close range. I watch a video and I start training with the laser bullet in the house six months later I had to defend myself in a bad situation and I use hip fire technique to shoot around my car door because the armed robber was right on the outside of my door. I’m telling you this because you’re teaching somebody Out there behind the lens and it works. Thank you for your channal.
Great work John you are so humble so detailed always ready I've been looking for years for someone to relate to my skill and everything you do is truly experienced The world needs you and I'm glad we both are the good guys I don't teach anyone now because I don't want to make a mistake and teach a bad guy to be the best And they may hurt someone I wish I could talk to you I've tried reaching out to tim Kennedy with no reply
John you have fantastic leverage and reflex . You are correct you should violently counter any attack . The guy in the video is hesitating never hesitate always go for it
Bring Amir back for more. He's pretty cool and talented.
I second that lol
You have awesome skills. Hope you become a regular on the channel.
@@AmirKhillah Mr. Khillah, hope you've been well! Thank you for your service and happy to see you still sharing your self defense skills!
Amir needs to be a regular on your channel. Never crossed my mind to carry on my weak side. Interesting. Great stuff.
That’s a great idea. That guys seems pretty cool. John Doe :)
Yep. I’m not switching, though. I’m ADDING 😂. Pretty soon my biggest concern will be drowning in a shallow body of water for all the steel on me.
Never…? Wow. 🙌🏻 Bigly

Was really fun watching John get schooled like that. And it was informative. Very good video!

I've never paid much attention to the "blade carried weak side" theory....until now! I get it, Thank you👍
I never thought about it either it makes a lot of sense
Always
Same.
Always carried a blade on the opposite side of secondary, not gonna take my pistol without getting cut (probably badly too) or stabbed
And I will need a different knife.
So much great technique and skill to take away from this video! Thank you John and Amir!!
Thank you friend
Amir is funny and love how you two banter back and forth but still give great info

Moving my EDC blade from my usual 5 oclock clipped to my pants waistline to the 10 oclock now. Didn't think to put it by the off hand. Thanks John!
