New to having a Mavic Pro and so a bit daunted by the controller screen, my last drone the Mavic Air didn't have that. So I was really nervous about being overwhelmed by all the information, but you explained it really well and have really put my mind at ease. Thank you for making this video, it's helped me so much
Great tutorial. I’ve had my Mavic Pro for almost a year and never knew what everything on the controller was for. Heck I didn’t realize that it even had a zoom.
This tutorial is way better than DJI channel. I am looking on how to tilt the camera angle up and down before my first flight and just found it here. Can not find it on the manual also. Now I am confident to fly my mavic pro platinum for the first time. Will upload my first fly on my channel very soon, Thanks
Nicely done! I just recently purchased a Mavic 2 Zoom so I am soaking up any bit of information I come across. Great explanation of the controller functions. As a visual learner it really helps having your clear un-confusing teaching method. Thank you!
I just bought one of these Platinum Pro as my first drone. I know these aren’t made anymore but this was an inexpensive start. Everything works great. I use it to take photos and videos of my construction sites I manage. Great tool! Very helpful video, thank you!
Controller. You don’t want the drone to spaz out at any point and not have the controller on! To power off, do the reverse. Drone first, then controller.
Thank you so much for this video!! Just got my drone yesterday and you made a lot of things clear for me. This video made more more excited to fly! Thanks again and keep up the great work
I bought a DJI Mavic Pro Platinum (£1200 around $1500) last year as a treat for some friends in Cyprus and 6 weeks after Waiting for it to be delivered all the hassle of getting it through customs after sending it to North Cyprus (who take longer to deal with things) etc etc. So the guys waited weeks nearly 2 months for their drone. The day it arrived l was here in Cyprus. We all went to the beach and we were all very excited filming with it. We were on the deck sunbathing. When the drone returned to us it just flipped and landed in the sea for no apparent reason! We got it out after about 2 seconds, dried it in rice, but it didn't work! When I phoned DJI long distance, they said they would repair it free for us so I was relieved. I spent more money about €50, sending it back (which meant travelling through the border, again thru customs, to the South of the Island, I don't drive so taxi costs. Thus was to use a Post Office with tracking so l could track the Mavic Pro.) Then strangely DJI wouldn't confirm that they received it 4 weeks later (even though tracking showed it arrived) until I could find all my receipts and evidence my end which I had temporarily lost. This took another week and a half, with more long distance phone calls, to different people in their office as no record was kept of my long distance phone calls. I've lost count of the many calls l made. It was a total nightmare. Finally, they decided they were not going to fix it free after all and gave no real reason for this change of heart. They then quoted €890 to repair it which seems steep when you consider they replace a chip or something minor - l could probably do it myself if you could buy electronics gear here (North Cyprus) which you cannot! I just asked them to return it. I cannot explain why they didn't wish to help - I wasn't angry with them on the phone I was polite all the way - so I am at a loss about this. In commercials and UA-cam you see the machine flying over water there is no warning that it is NOT even semi-waterproof or splashproof. I explained to Amazon where I bought it who decided they would sort it for me saying if they couldn't get redress from DJI they would pay me. I said l was happy to have half the costs and expenses. I waited and waited for my refund to no avail. Out of the blue, Amazon too decided they weren't going to pay me anything not even a postage stamp! So I am £1500 plus down and all my time and effort (and expenses) and nothing to show for it. Not to mention all the time and trouble travelling to South Cyprus to send it back via tracked mail long distance phone calls etc etc. The worst was watching my two young friends ' unhappy faces. The real reason for this plea is I wanted to asked anyone PLEASE - what do I do with all the batteries and stuff? Can I use them on a different drone (not DJI as I am still sore!) There has to be a clone out there where I can use the batteries, surely China has copied it (improved it!) it just seems so much waste. I thought the 21st C was a sustainable one, it seems not as far as DJI are concerned!!!
I agree. It does not work. When I got mine last October 2017, I had some problems with connecting. There were those annoying updates which made things more confusing. It eventually worked with my Android device using the side of the RC unit. It refuses to connect on the Bottom using my Samsung Tab A (android). It did a few times then quit. Finally, I bought an Ipad Mini 4 with 128 gigs and it worked perfectly the first time. The Mavic Pro does not like Android devices.
leegenix love the iPad mini4. And I was lost for almost an hour before I learned that we have to UNPLUG the side micro USB before the bottom one will work. I had it plugged in but hanging off the side out of the way but the controller knows when both are plugged in and it disables both. Weird. The iPad mini sits inside the grips perfectly with awesome balance, no need for an aftermarket clamp.
How does the Return Home button work as in where is Home? If you were moving and when you press home does it come to the controller or does it go back to where it started? I'm asking this in terms of using it's follow feature and having it follow me on my motorcycle. Thanks
Hi Carson, liked and subscribed! I was just given the "Fly More" packages and TWO drones. One is a Mavic Mini, and the other is a Mavic Pro. I've been watching your noobie videos and I have one suggestion: Could you talk a little slower? A great video...I found myself rewatching sections over just because I couldn't get it the first time, LOL. Really enjoying your videos! Thanks!
Great video I’ve only just found the SPORT button! Probably because it so small and probably because I’ve not properly looked at all the settings until very recently. I think I like things to be difficult for some reason.
My first problem upon opening the box on my Fly More Combo was trying to figure out how to charge the controller. Battery was at 3% charged. 🤔 The manual is not clear about removing that side cable plug in order to insert the charging cable there.
Hey Carson, that was a great video. I just wanted to know that which drone has a better video quality !? Is it the DJI mini 2 or the mavic pro platinum !
Small confession, I was lightly making fun of you while watching the video and my girlfriend says from across the room "Dont make fun of him, he knows shit you don't,"
Rumor has it that at the end of March DJ I will be making a announcement for the second generation Mavic pro which apparently is coming with a 1 inch sensor personally I don’t think they could have done better much better than what they did with the Mavic pro platinum all the same features even the new one will not be coming with back up sensors platinum is by far the best drown on the market
Hi , is this recoding need to be enable ? It you don’t enable just view as camera to visual to view ? In addition, do I need launch pad to put this thing on ? If I put GoPro max underneath the drone will appear uneven for drone base, so I need put on my hand to take off ?
Anson, nope! You don’t need to be recording to view the camera. In fact, you don’t even need an SD card in the drone to view the camera view. There’s always a constant live stream of video down to the drone. Also, you don’t need a launchpad, but they can be helpful sometimes depending on scenario. Finally, I have put a 360 camera on my drone before and it was pretty cool :). I just hand launched the drone when I had that mounted. If you need mounting ideas for the Mavic, you can take a look at what I did to jimmy rig the camera onto the Mavic Pro Platinum here: ua-cam.com/video/K8mEFjmy-uw/v-deo.html (I show what I did to mount to the drone at 5:07). Hopefully this all helps!
Really learned a lot from your video. Thank you. I'm a recovering TV news reporter and have some constructive criticism for you. Slow down. You speak at such a clip that it makes it difficult to keep up and it also will steer your viewers away because it's just plain old uncomfortable to listen to. Also, give your edits some breating room. When moving from you, to a shot of the drone, give your viewers a beat of silence. You're beginning to talk on your first frame (or close to it) when moving from you to b-roll and back again to you. You do great with content. Keep it up. But slow down, even by half. It may not seem comfortavble to you, but it will be for the rest of us. Thank you again.
RAlph, this kid is obviously a bonafide National Honor Society kid! Me? In high school, not so much.........I was a quiet jock. I got to college played ball, but I studied SLOW! Graduated Magna Cum Laude! I never could study with people like this. I could never study with anybody at all! I am sort of amused by people like this. I just listened to it twice, and stopped and started a lot. Then again it beats the guys telling me about their kids, the weather, and where they live! But, young fella, if your trying to attract more viewers, Ralph is right.....SLOW DOWN!
Is the this controller the same as other DJI where if you pull the left stick down in midair it will descend? I would like to know how to land just using the control sticks
Thanks. New Mavic Pro owner. Haven't flown it yet. What is the top wind speed (gusting is bad, I know) that you have felt safe flying in? I know speeds can be faster at higher elevations above ground level. Thanks for a very informative video. Subscribed.
great viseo what happens if you turn on the controller and don't turn on the drone? how will the controller behave? will it try to connect all the time? i have a controller without a drone, and i can't know if it's working. I turn it on and the display always shows "connecting" ... later it rings and shows "shutdown", pressing a key returns "connecting" connected to the smartphone with DJI GO 4 software, the controller is detected and responds to the settings, the DJI Assistant 2 software detects the controller and has successfully updated the firmware to the latest version. Thank you
So if the DJI app crashes I press the RTH button and it returns home 2:28 even though it's disconnected from the app? Or will it automatically sense the malfunction and return to home on it's own?
It will work both ways! It returns home on its own if there is a disconnection between the remote and drone, but can RTH if the app disconnects if you use the remote to do so
Nice tutorial! My question is: Are you able to access and modify controller settings without having the drone powered on? For instance, to modify stick sensitivity and wheel sensitivity (among other advanced settings), which you don't want to do while your drone is hovering or waiting and draining its battery, can you enter controller settings and do so, and how do you do that? Thanks!
Hi Carson ! Great video. I'm contemplating getting a drone this summer, rumours are a new Mavic is coming, so I'm going to wait until June to see. Great video. I had NO clue how everything worked before your video so thank you. P.S. How is the charging done on the controller itself ? is it USB charged ? anyway, thanks ! - Mark over at the BakeLikeAPro channel.
Hey Mark! Thank you! Thats a good choice on waiting because the Mavic Pro 2 could be pretty awesome :). As for plugging in and charging the controller itself, yep, it’s charged through micro USB and it’s charged by plugging in a micro USB charging cable into the micro USB port on the left side of the controller (where the phone connection cable is). Hope this helps!
Just bought a brand new DJI pro platinum Try to connect remote controller but no luck... it remains in ( connect) mode. What should I do?! Thank you in advance
Carson, how do you feel about the Mavic Air release, any regrets buying the Mavic Pro? Personally I believe the Pro is far superior than the Air based on some of the reviews i've seen out here.
I don’t have a mavic but I still really enjoyed the vid! I also have a couple questions tho. 1: Is there an ATTI mode? I’d be surprised if there wasn’t. 2: How do you hold a tablet on that controller? I’ve always thought you couldn’t cause it’s so small but it’d be cool if u could!
Franklin521 you can plug a tablet in using the cord but as people getting this drone mainly get it for its portability most people wont be carrying a tablet around when its twice the size of the drone
Hi there sir! I've been following your videos for a while, and now I already purchased my own Mavic Pro, but I just wanted to share my experience with my Mavic it happens that I've encountered this message "Rc remote control signal lost" I don't know why I have encountered this one? Before this happens I just try to push my mavic to its range in my hometown and it reached about 2000ft distance and 200ft height, then I decided to comeback facing forward to where my homepoint is, but when it reaches about 300ft distance and still 200ft height, this happens "RC remote control signal lost" I was freak out and thinking my mavic flies aways, I don't have eyes on my screen, so what I did I come out to my house and tries to see if I could see it line of sight, then gladly it was just hovering outside! so I did land it manually, I can still control it to my remote control but then again I cant see anything on my screen. Any ideas sir? what causes this one?
Thanks for the info. If I find a reliable list I will update you. DJI may make a good product but their backup leaves a lot to be desired especially with owners of earlier models like the P3 standard for example. John
What is the warning signal paddle freeze mean? FYI where I'm at it's 90°temperature outside so forget the freezing idea it's a mechanical fries of some sort where is the paddle?
New to having a Mavic Pro and so a bit daunted by the controller screen, my last drone the Mavic Air didn't have that. what camera you use

Hey Carson, good job. Straight forward and love the speed at which you teach. Great job!
Just quick,
Do i turn on the controller first or the drone?
Controller. You don’t want the drone to spaz out at any point and not have the controller on! To power off, do the reverse. Drone first, then controller.
@@carsonmtech k!
Thanks for the great re-fresher course, it is much appreciated. Now it is time to go flying again. Happy Flying
Nice and easy explanation thanks 😊
Thank you so much for this video!! Just got my drone yesterday and you made a lot of things clear for me. This video made more more excited to fly! Thanks again and keep up the great work
2024, great video. I just received a mavic 2 pro after flying a phantom 4 pro for a few years. Thanks. I’ll check out your other videos
Great job on going over all the features of Mavic pro controller.

I hadn't flown my drone in a while - thanks for the refresher!! Well done!!
Thank You I got a Man Pro drone for Christmas and was given a quick course and forgot some. Your video was a big help!!
This was actually helpful, as it has been a while since I used my Mavic Pro...... Im back at it tomorrow, thanks dude.
This was a good and simple video that was easy for beginners to follow. I appreciate it! Thanks.
You kick butt kid! Keep making good videos!
Dusted off my Mavic Pro after a few years and totally forgot how to use it. Handy video. Thanks mate.
If you use the USB port on the bottom, YOU MUST remove the cable from the side of the controller or it will NOT work.
I agree. It does not work. When I got mine last October 2017, I had some problems with connecting. There were those annoying updates which made things more confusing. I use my apple mini 2. It's kind of obvious that DJI favors the apple products when it says so on its box.
I use a battery bank while flying thru the side port. You just have to plug the side port in last after the go4 app is already connected to your bird.
I have an Ipod Mini 2, and I am having trouble loading up the Dji Pro 4 app. Is it possible?
The Mavic pro controller is by far one of the most user-friendly and easy remote to use
I totally agree! After you realize what all the buttons do, it’s really simple to use with lots of great features!
great video. Also your garden is amazing, the basketball court WOW!
Another outstanding video Carson..keep up the great work !!
Could I use my iPhone 8 WITH my otterbox defender case? Good video!👍
Finally a good video on how to use the controller.
looks good
Thanks...still very helpful. Discovered a lot of tips I hadn't realised about the controller. Thank you!

Well done, great info
It’s hard to fly and control the gimbal, can that be programmed for the right button
Helped allot thanks bud just got the mavic !
Good video thanks. I have not flown my drone for a year. I needed some "retraining."
Great video I’ve only just found the SPORT button! Probably because it so small and probably because I’ve not properly looked at all the settings until very recently. I think I like things to be difficult for some reason.
thank you the first thing you went through about what was the usb for that was my question
Thanks Carson, great video to refer to and getting acquainted to all the buttons . Thank you.
Great video sir
Nice and easy explanation 🎉 thanks you for watching master from Philippines
great tips i have had a drone for a long time but did not know a lot so this video was perfect
I’m curious if this controller can be used on the Maverick mini 2 or DJISE or anything like that
Great job man, thank you!
Bro is this a good choice to buy in this jan2021.
Loved the video, thank you for all the info and the ease of explanation
My first problem upon opening the box on my Fly More Combo was trying to figure out how to charge the controller. Battery was at 3% charged. 🤔 The manual is not clear about removing that side cable plug in order to insert the charging cable there.
Thank You Sir 4 this video - I just bought a renewed/refurbished mavic pro - this was perfect !!
Hey Carson, that was a great video. I just wanted to know that which drone has a better video quality !? Is it the DJI mini 2 or the mavic pro platinum !
Very helpful! We just got our drone and we needed this!
Small confession, I was lightly making fun of you while watching the video and my girlfriend says from across the room "Dont make fun of him, he knows shit you don't,"
Love this
Thanks im trying to learn as much before i receive my mavic platinum
Nice video. I just started with the Mavic Pro.
Thanks for this! Mine was used and only came with a C-cable. I needed a lightning! 😂
I need a C it came with a Lightning
I have watched a lot of your tutorials and you do a great job. I had a phantom 3 and now a Mavic Pro.Thanks
Your videos and instructionals are excellent.
Thankyou for a great video, some things I didn't know that I have learnt now
Rumor has it that at the end of March DJ I will be making a announcement for the second generation Mavic pro which apparently is coming with a 1 inch sensor personally I don’t think they could have done better much better than what they did with the Mavic pro platinum all the same features even the new one will not be coming with back up sensors platinum is by far the best drown on the market

Carson Miller hi thanks
I able to made my own mount

just bought my yesterday. Waiting for my first drone :D Thanks mate. It looks like a awesome controller for nice cinematic :)
Really learned a lot from your video. Thank you. I'm a recovering TV news reporter and have some constructive criticism for you. Slow down. You speak at such a clip that it makes it difficult to keep up and it also will steer your viewers away because it's just plain old uncomfortable to listen to. Wade Gizzy W.t. F. Are you trying to say.. nobody cares about what you were in h.s. Back in the fifties. lol.
Nice job!... I have the Mavic Air, and am considering the Mavic Pro Platinum... where are you located and where do you fly???
Good work Carson, thanks for the video, very helpful.
many thanks for taking the timeout to produce this informative video for us x
LOOKING FOR YOUR WEB PAGE. I RECEIVED MY ALMOST NEW DJI MAVIC 2 PRO AND WANT TO SEE HOW THIS WORKS. EXCELLENT AS ALWAYS, THANK YOU.
Very helpful video Carson. Helps heaps Thanks
Is the this controller the same as other DJI where if you pull the left stick down in midair it will descend? I would like to know how to land just using the control sticks

Thanks for a very informative video. Subscribed.
Well done! Nicely presented.
Thank you four your video can I use USB connecter to use a fev Goggles??? Thks mate
great viseo

Does it have "contrast", "sharpness" and "saturation" controls like the Mavic Pro and Phantom 4 Pro?
So if the DJI app crashes I press the RTH button and it returns home 2:28 even though it's disconnected from the app? Or will it automatically sense the malfunction and return to home on it's own?
It will work both ways! It returns home on its own if there is a disconnection between the remote and drone, but can RTH if the app disconnects if you use the remote to do so
thanks man, really helpful. Im form Argentina and just got my mavic fly more combo today. Keep up the good work! Peace!
Between mavic 2 pro and mavic 2 zoom which one is better?
Thank you for some of the beginner info!
Can you tell me if it's possible the connection between Mavic air2 zoom and Dji c2 control?
Thanks so much for this very helpful video. I put it into my favorites folder for future review.
This helped a lot, thanks for posting.

Hi
What was this edited with?
Just bought a brand new DJI pro platinum
Try to connect remote controller but no luck... it remains in ( connect) mode. What should I do?! Thank you in advance
ILIR SHEHU did you use the connecting wire? If you use the bottom USB you have to unplug the cable on the left side of the remote. I hope that helps.
Carson, how do you feel about the Mavic Air release, any regrets buying the Mavic Pro? Personally I believe the Pro is far superior than the Air based on some of the reviews i've seen out here.
John Kay he has the mavic platinum which is a great buy ..
Is the new mavic air an upgrade to the mavic pro?
its more of a downgrade specially the range the mavic pro has .. just think about the macbook air and macbook pro you’ll know the difference
Very helpful vid!! Haven't found any videos explaining the functions on the controller. thanks!!
Thks four your video i have a Mavic Pro can i use defirente remote control on my drone same remote i need to do any thing to connect on my drone thks
Franklin521 I use my iPad mini 4 and it fits perfectly into my controller. If I use my larger iPad Air I use an adapter.
Awesome, thank you young man, very helpful
This video was extremely helpful and clear! Thank you !
Thanks, I needed the refresher.
Can u make a video about updating the operating system ?
You don't need a phone to fly like the spark correct ?
Thanks for the info. If I find a reliable list I will update you. DJI may make a good product but their backup leaves a lot to be desired especially with owners of earlier models like the P3 standard for example.
John
It's very good to fly a drone it really helped me to fly my drone.
Thanks; good information. A question please; if I press the RTH button, can it be canceled with the red pause button?
What is the warning signal paddle freeze mean? FYI where I'm at it's 90°temperature outside so forget the freezing idea it's a mechanical fries of some sort where is the paddle?
Thanks man it helped me tremendously
