Gurjara camels beating byzantine cataphracts is something that offended me when the civ came out and still offends me to this day.
They don't get pikemen or arb, it's fine 11 byz gets halb

Really? camel beat cataphracts? Just saw a game in youtube where cataphracts demolished camels. Although it was not Gurjaras.
@@rockgamiasedes677catas usually win against camels because the anti cav armour is high enough to negate (most of) the camel's bonus damage. Gurjara camels got more bonus damage because of a civ bonus and got higher melee armour thanks to a unique tech, so they got a very different matchup against cataphracts
Gurjara Heavy Camels no longer beat Elite Cataphracts with the extra bonus damage reduction from 50% to 40%.

I also found it interesting you like getting handcannons early castle with bohemians, I tend to hear most people saying the chemistry upgrades best for bohemians while on the way up to imp for instant bombard. My next couple games with them I am going to try playing castle a bit longer and seeing how the handcannon does.
The early Chemistry can also be used in Castle Age to boost a crossbow mass before switching production to HC after first spending your food on clicking up to Imperial Age. I feel like trying out Bohemians soon, after I am done failing with Burgundians. 😆

I did that strat once and won first try, but i did pikes with scropians. Switched it into centurions late castle early imp to raid.

This is interesting, I was thinking on a different definition of anti-meta (Goths, Celts, Teutons, Poles, Berbers). Usually people thinks of anti-meta as "weird/all in strategy" rather than counter-units
I had this missconception before too (applied to League of Legends, tho). Anti-meta are things good against the meta strategies. Off-meta is what you are referring, "weird stuff".

I think with the turks you can utilize your gold bonus on knights, if you have a bunch of alive, you could upgrade them to cavalier. Slowly shifting hussars + gunpowder from scout into knights opening.
That is kind of "meta", though.

I may not even have seen anyone using a knight other than myself. I rarely watch pro matches. My peak is above average but generally I was a mid elo player. Maybe I hadn't witnessed once but there were. IDK

Turk Light cav is a highly underrated cost effective counter to xbow
Massed Turk light cav with Hindustani ally, to kill farmers, destroy farms and even raze TCs.
Bummed at the lack of Byzantines.
Hindustanis have many options to play, remember many patchs ago the civ had access to halbs.
I started playing the bohemians a lot and having good success. Any thoughts on the fervor upgrade for the eco bonus, and some early relic play? I have been getting it early most games but is it worth the early castle investment or am I better off waiting till imp? A lot happens in an age game so I'm sure its kind of hard to ever give a definitive anwser but wondering what people got to say.

I've always hated playing against archers as Saracens, and now I feel justified, but not better.
My go-to solution against archers is booming into a million skirmishers that also serve as siege against buildings due to the team bonus - a.k.a. siegemishers. 😁 It kind of depends on the opponent not making mangonels, but if they do, I can kill them with mamelukes that I heal up with monks. Monks with Bimaristan also quickly restore the siegemishers after battles, and they stay kind of safe inside the mass. In Imperial Age, I like to spend gold on bombards and add hussars.
@@EliasHasle This sounds pretty solid. I just have to learn to transition back to food better, which may become easier with the new farm placement mechanic.
@@yahm0n Sure! Also, I think the idea of booming into a million skirmishers only works if you are the one putting pressure (ideally with archers) in the first place, already booming a bit behind. Otherwise, you may not have food or time to switch. Anyway, I am only a low Elo non-legend, so what do I know...
One option with Romans: MAA rush into archer Feudal. The MAAs are tanky, and the archers pair nicely with them. And you have your Roman eco bonus to boost it. And opponents don't expect archers from Romans (and according to Daut's recent video, archers or skirms are the best follow-ups to a MAA rush). And if things get later on, a large scorpion mass can be a dangerous threat to anyone not prepared with a counter (aka Bombard cannons and Onagers).
Opponents always expect archers after m@a.

But I have a question for you ? I never use UU, because of production limit. Because a stable is 175 wood and a castle is 650 stone. Building stable/Archery range is better than building castle. When should I go for UU ? Or with which civs ?
Some civs produce their Castle UU so much faster than the wooden production buildings that they kind of pay off anyway, in terms of villager seconds spent gatering resources and building the production buildings. Karambits are the most extreme example. But eventually, stone gets too scarce to compete with adding tens of barracks. (But then, Malay have the Forced Levy UT which gives them trash THS.)
Which civ would perform well when played by aliens with perfect execution?

I 100% agree with youon turkish scouts/LC. I played them a lot on open maps on mid-elo lvl and won quite a few games against archers civs in feudal or early castle just with the LC. This matchup is not even funny. And if they react with pikes I feel like thats exactly what I want anyway since my long-term plan is CA/Jans anyway and they kind of invite me into it.

For years I played all the civs in alphabetical order until I got 10 wins with each, swinging between 1000 and 1200 ELO. Turks were surprisingly fun and straightforward on Arabia. Go scouts into light cav and knights or camels, they go for spears, make Janissaries for the win!

Not mentioning Teutons as a counter to Franks, Slavs and Khmer and other Knight Civs makes me sad. My fav civ :)
1-5 I would think:
Vietnamese, Hindustanis, Britons, Dravidians, Vikings. Sometimes you have to imagine playing them not-standard, in the sense of Viet & Brits not JUST going archers.
Just a nitpick but once you notice how much Hera uses the word "insAne" in the videos, it's hard to stop noticing it

Their playstyle is usually reactive and their strong points are very unique. That was my reasoning at least

I don't think the jannisaries have any role now. They're so bad at everything.
I think cumans lacking braser is one of the most unfair and historically inaccurate things in the game, cuman 2nd feudal TC is extremely strong but the civ trends to fall a lot in the lategame and something that could help a lot is a simple tech.
They absolutely shouldn't get it unless they remove the 2nd TC.
Cumans are already one of the strongest civs in the entire game if the 2TC goes unpunished and they do not need any help in lategame since they should win on a timer (Castle Age/early Imp)
So just play like its Arena. Got it.

Biggest Turk weakness: Hindustani, Saracens and Gurjara. Playing against Turks with them is such a nobrainer - All into camels, the Turks have nothing that works against this. Their own camels are worse than those of Hindustani, Saracens and Gurjara, their cav-archers die to them, their gunpowder units die to them, their lightcav dies to them, they have no arbs, and the only thing that would work, the champions, are too slow and not effective enought in the rare occasions when they actually deal a hit on the opponents camels.

jans absolutely wreck camels and Turk heavy CA is a decent option too. Turks actually struggle against strong elephant civs. They have zero counter to bengali elephant archer with halb meat shield.

Actually, I forgot monks, this would work very well, at least in early castle age when numbers are low. But I have no idea how you're planning to destroy camels with gunpowder unless you are talking about an unfair and unlikely scenario where you already have tons of castles to hide bellow or you are fighting 25 camels with 50 HCs/Jans. In reality, the camels will be out earlier since you need a castle or imperial age plus archery ranges to produce gunpowder, while all your opponent needs is castle age and 2 stables.
EDIT: You are probably right when it comes to gurjara camels, I forgot they don't get the last attack upgrade which leaves them with 4 damage per hit on an elite Janissary with full armor. Against 170 HP Saracen camels and 160 HP imperial camels, your canoneers are toast.
