It is because the WHO is no longer a Healthcare institution, but rather a political organization. And all political organizations do the bidding of the contributors.
Thus if you follow the funding you see the political directorate. Either they benefit or are penalized but the WHO doesn't hear or listen to the local needs of the people. They will give directions only.

The corporate masters always and only give instructions that primarily increase profit, or secondarily increase power and control, which is then later used to create profit. The true pandemic on our world is systems of economy based upon capitalist materialism which has no value or morals besides profit, thus rewards sociopaths with lives of oppulence, even if it means killing, injuring, or enslaving billions. I'm from the US. I have zero power to change or influence anything. I'm not a corporation. I don't want to be a part of this system. Power is imbalanced towards centralization, at the expense of locals, globally. We place power in a virtual, abstract system, to accrue an imaginary concept called money, while destroying every living thing on the planet. Centralization should be limited to providing infrastructure, to help distribute resources, planning and logistics, not setting policy about how best to use that infrastructure to abuse, exploit, assault, and disempower locals, while ensuring a one-way wealth and health transfer from locals to centralized power. As for these problems in Africa, I wish I could help, but I'm severely disabled, and very poor, and may not survive due to poverty. But I'd think of exploring all options, like vaccine pills, mosquito nets, smoke, candle, or other mild/natural/organic chemical based repellants, pesticides to reduce mosquito populations near settlements, windows and doors for homes, or even finding a way to use the mosquitos themselves to replicate and carry vaccines or something. I don't know what ideas are feasible, pragmatic, wise, or have been examined. But I'd research and explore anything that might help. As for water, I've seen plans for this architect's crazy looking water collector tower that passively (no electricity or mechanical parts) collects water from the air (particularly at night), yielding enough for a few Liters a day per person in a smaller village. Larger villages can use 3-4 of these. There's well digging. There's higher tech but low power electrostatic filtration prototypes, requiring very minimalist solar power, and existing source water, but it can clean out most chemicals, impurities, bacteria, and viruses, without ever needing a filter. To clean the system, it only needs to reverse the electric charge and flush out the buildup. A secondary stage of charcoal and/or clay filter could be used, and replaced less frequently. Water could also be boiled or further treated. But most of the benefit is no dependence upon an expensive disposable filtration system. I wish there was more training, mentoring, education, to use English to conduct business globally, to use math and technology to design ways to manage local challenges, and build local infrastructure, to sustainably manage things using local resources and labor. Self-sufficiency would be the goal, and increased health and quality of life. That's the only wealth that matters. Healthy bodies, healthy communities, healthy systems. Wish you well.

I am an un-vaccinated Ugandan and I know less than 2 people in my circles who are vaccinated. I have no idea why COVID is still a news item coz for us, it’s something we no longer pay any attention to.
Recently, we have been dealing with an Ebola outbreak which was aptly contained without instituting nationwide shutdowns and mandatory vaccinations. So, we are good in our own way.
Let the WHO focus on China and other countries where COVID is still a real challenge.

Now look at African countries . . . . Somalia 18.2 years old . . . Zambia: 16.9 years old . . . Niger: 14.8 years old (etc etc). See if you can work out why a disease that predominately effects elderly people has much less of an impact in countries where there are vastly fewer elderly people.

Colonialism was a massive COST to nations like Britian and France, not a generator of wealth. That is the reason why after the world wars most colonies were abandonned, they were too expensive to develop and maintain. They didnt have the funds to keep it going. Obviously there were companies and people that became massively wealthy as a result, but at the subsidization of tax money from the home country. Not only did colonisation not result in loss of wealth for colonised nations, the longer that any country had been colonized is a direct predictor of how wealthy their nation is today. Im not saying colonialism was good or should have happened or should still be or anything like that. Just that this specific quote about it is not accurate.

One of the first things that made me (and many other people) suspicious about cv19 was the fact that the continent of Africa seemed to be one of the least impacted places on the planet. Usually, Africa is the tip of the spear for these things and the media loves to regale us with stories about how Africa is the "hardest hit" so we must do all we can to help stop xyz, etc. These stories, however, were conspicuously absent over the the last few years with this virus. Could it have something to do with Africa's population being relatively young (average age of 20), the lack of obesity in Africa and a population that regularly uses therapeutics such as Ivermectin and Hydroxycloroquine? Rather than ask these questions, the media and the WHO prefers to pretend that this phenomenon does not exist. We have all been played.

If you remember the narrative began with Africa as the spear of the tip. Monkeypox also seemed to include the narrative that it was a disease associated with Black People. Curiously, I've heard no more about this "highly contagious disease" as of late.
Well, KayFabe, I was in Kenya during the pandemic, and I had Covid19 - but - during the period from July 2019 to September 2019. There was nothing named Covid19 at that time. But I had - at various times - 9 of the 11 known standard-symptoms of Covid19. I went to doctor, got ultra-sound-scanned, X-rayed, CT-scanned, checked for cancer, TB, and you name it - as I had this cough which rode me like a night mare. My neighbours had the same. They went to the doctor too etc. etc. So doctors could not tell what it was, except that it appeared like something between an influenza and a cold. A few people - maybe 1 or 2 - died in the village where I stayed. Out of some thousands.
No treatment worked. Of course I could take cough syrup, and it worked - but then I had to take it again after 6 hours etc. etc. - ... I had fevers coming going - chills - etc. etc.
I then started looking into what I could do myself. I read that Vitamin D3 could work on certain viral pneumonias. I got D3. And now, 2-3 days after, the cough stopped. I regained energy pretty fast, the slight breathing issue stopped, but it took me time to fully recover. Shortly thereafter - Covid19 was detected - and at some point in March 2020 we saw in the news, how the symptoms were from Covid19 and realized that we had it in Africa, long time before it ever set foot in Wuhan.

Who brings the unjust to justice? Unjust corporates, governments, politicians too often are "tried" by themselves which is why "justice" remains an illusion for inhumane acts of injustice. In other words, like racism, "injustice" in systemically "institutional". I agree but unless the system is challenged entirely with real people centred intentions injustice will continue. In the mean time however small we can give, we must, whatever little we can do to alleviate suffering we must do.

Dr Campbell - you are SPOT ON. Thank you for highlighting the plight of so many. I live here and can attest to what you are saying. We have just completed a project called "The Sleepwell Project", whereby we raise funds to purchase mattresses, treated mosquito nets, sheets and blankets for families in need (of which there are many). This is the second time we've carried out this project, and we hope to garner more support to make it an annual event. However, the more money we can raise, the more often we can do it. We are all in this together!
Father was a veteran, the family grew up on a farm, they were tough, went to uni for a veterinary degree, worked in Africa, saw diseases introduced and pharma immediately follow up with treatments, went to London to complain, committed suicide.

While it's true vaccines have been oversold to the fit, it's more likely Africa escaped the worst due to the population's often active, out doors working, & comparative youngness of the population, lack of obesity, possible robust genetics re CVs & plenty of ventilation.
Currently much of Africa is not in winter- like NZ and Australia, South America they are in summer. Much of Aftica is not that cold usually anyway, barring mountain tops.
78 People died in NZ last week, including one 10 yr old. This may be due to the NZ habit of partying in enclosed pub/club spaces & travelling far & wide at Christmas & multiple HUGE cruise ships like the Ovation arriving- like incubation centers that spread new variants from afar.
Our NZ rates have just dropped, people aren't RATs testing as they enjoy Christmas/New Year break which MAY be one factor, but the death rates are still high for us as they lag for a few weeks after the peak.
Admittedly NZ Media has recently been inconsistent in reporting deaths FROM Covid versus deaths WITH Covid.
Perhaps the only people who need to be concerned in NZ are those over 60ish who were boosted over 6mths ago and those vulnerable. But this is no consolation if you are in those groups.

When my son hitchhiked all the way through Gambia in April/May 2022 everyone told him that they had not seen covid. The government had paid for adverts on the streets saying "Covid is real". I lived in Sierra Leone 1969-71. Malaria was the major killer then and it hasn’t changed. Mosquito nets are such a simple solution and yet we in the first world countries still act as if we don’t know that. Also clean water is a need. We put in a few pumps provided by UN. The cost to village was very small in order to buy cement to seal ground above well. These simple pumps provide clean water and yet they seem to be in short supply. Why? Simple solutions that are very effective. If people want to help they should be designating their money to projects such as these.

I just had a conversation with a friend over Christmas break. He alluded to his house being a "safe spot" for another still scared of covid friend because him and his family (2 year old baby too) were vac'd and boosted. Because it was the holiday and late I didn't want to get into it and correct him about that not preventing spread. People will believe what story they want to believe.

I've been to UGANDA 3 times in the last 6 years. We gave ivermectin out like candy. We also took it before going prophylactically. I still keep in touch with over half the people which is about 70 that went to Africa. None of us has had covid , and if we did we never knew. Every one of us works in prehospital or hospital settings. I still truly believe that's what Africa has been spared.

Ivermectin is used for river blindness control in West Africa. It is not used in Central Africa for obvious reasons if you did your research well and not in east Africa because the cases are to patchy and sporadic.
