Made a quarantine goal to get better at burpees and this video fixed all my mistakes I was making especially landing on my toes and treating it like a squat. I'm still working on getting the spring right but I don't dread burpees anymore now. Thanks a lot for posting!🙌🏾🙌🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Bro doing strict form burpees arent a mistake. They are just a different thing than winning burpee races. And dont get me wrong the speed training is great. But supplementing with the stric can only improve your speed by individual strengthening the muscles of each phase of the exercise.
Great thing about burpees is that it is such a versatile exercise. I enjoy doing a full plank into a pushup and then squat thrust into the jump. It expends more energy so seems a bit more efficient. I will keep any eye out for ankle risk. Thanks for identifying that!
Very helpful. Made me realise my way of doing the burpee (more of a squat, followed by thrust then pushup, then back into squat) is mechanically inefficient. Still managed to do 100 burpees in under 7 minutes (at age 64), but this method looks a better way to go in future :-)
I am weak at these. 1 - land on flat feet, something I will start to do! 2 - spring to a wider base, makes sense and I will try. I clicked on several videos and really appreciated your 5 tips to survive this part of my CrossFit workouts.
Thank you for your tips. Very helpful. The hip hinge tip made me change how I approach this exercise. Now I see burpees as a movement that resembles a controlled descent to the ground and back up ending with a jump, all initiated and controlled by the hips and the core. Thanks again :)
At age 52 I did the 365 day burpee challenge. It was the most difficult thing I ever did. Great video. Will work on my form at the gym tomorrow morning.
Nice video. I currently do about 50 burpees. I also do squats and I do 100 push ups. It it ok to break the push ups into 4 sets so I take 15 seconds break and then do another 25 push ups until I get to 100.
Great tips! I'll do some streches before burpees next time. I find myself sometimes, it's hard to reach the floor with palms of my hands ( even though I can strech to the floor, just getting stiff when working out) and I do fist or just bending my fingers which is probably bad for the hand. Are burpees put a big strain on the lower back? I don't mind them when I'm doing lots of cardio, but after the weights to suddenly do burpees I find it hard ;)
On the way down my hands don't touch the floor while my feet are still planted. Right before my hands touch the floor, I keep my feet out behind me, then my hands come to the floor. If you have normal flexibility in your lower back and it isn't overly stiff or tight, then burpees have zero problems with the spine. If someone does have a really tight low back, they'll want to mobilize prior to a burpee workout. Let me know if there's anything else I can help with.
Great podcast Constantly Varied Fitness! Did I understand you to say you did 1,600 burpess without a break! Surely you would have to be the fittest person in the world to do that! Even with breaks in between is a fantastic effort! The best I can do consecutively is 30 burpees, and then I`m huffing and puffing worse than I run a 400 metre sprint! Cheers!
I don't know which to follow anymore... I think i should do my burpee as the spirit directs.. 😁 What you say incorrect here, another say it's correct, especially with the squat burpee style.
You shouldnt say the strict military version is incorrect. You should say its not correct for a CrossFit competition. I also think both ways act as great supplemental and complementary exercises to each other.
Dang I do everything wrong besides wide stance, and landing flat footed. I do 100 per day (as part of whatever circuit I come up with....but I do the strict push up and the squat. I have to say....the squat has helped with an ass that don't quit lolol ....so I may keep that
These are crossfit style burpees. With the original burpee your stomach area do not make contact with the ground, no jump is included at the end of the burpee. Its simply squat, plank position, kick back, kick in, stand up per each rep. Per ROYAL H. BURPEE! Great video though keep it up❤️👍🏾
ConstantlyVariedFitness for sure man im at like 250-300 a day now. 3 sets of 30 reps 3 rounds >> 10 reps 3 sets burpees are no joke but definitely a love/hate relationship just a mental game at the end of the day. But continue to educate and motivate👍🏾
Including the time I took small breaks and to get in liquids and carbs, it was a little past 4 hours. I actually enjoy burpees so I feel like that made this a little less daunting in comparison to other possible movements I could have done.
It happens almost simultaneously, so it's not a lot of stress. Plus that's why you lower yourself towards the floor first so it's not a lot of force. Someone with weak wrist mobility may feel discomfort for a short period until they build the forearm strength to support their body. In that case, I would have them put the hands down first, then legs go back.
You would think it would stress the wrists, and it does if you land hard with arms locked. In Kung Fu, we learn forward falls much like he's doing in the video. Fall basically into a controlled pushup, using your arms like shock absorbers. 😉
Here you go. ua-cam.com/video/wMxVUWEe3Rg/v-deo.html It was on the way to doing over 2000+, but I called it at 1660 and finished the rest a week later.
Could you please share with me the universal burpee manual that states you should NOT let your chest and thighs come into contact with the floor. Thanks. 😚

I hope your knee is better!

I did 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off for 30-40 minute intervals, then I would take 10 minute breaks. I did them all in one sitting, not unbroken.
@@ConstantlyVariedFitness Absolutely fantastic effort! The burpee is a superb exercise!

Good job. Thanks you so much.
I dont breath in burpees i dont why and when i shuld inhale
Thank you!!
You're welcome Amy! Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see in a video.
great tips it helps me a lot
Cool tips:) Already figured the one with wider feet naturally out myself, helps a lot! My additional tip would be breathing:D
I am going to do a video on my youtube with this included. Hopefully it works😓
Thank you for correct instructions. Extremely useful for corrections.
So...should I NOT try to do burpees if my form is nothing close to good? I’m a 74yo woman. Thanks, for the videos, much appreciated.
If your form is problematic to the extent that it causes discomfort or pain I would modify by doing the push up version on a box.
You shouldnt say the strict military version is incorrect. You should say its not correct for a CrossFit competition. I also think both ways act as great supplemental and complementary exercises to each other.

currently i do 200 burpees per day..
Nice Amit! Impressive!
How to breathe during Burpees?
*inhale*..... *exhale*....... *INHALEEEEE*..... EXHAAAAAALEEEEEEEE*
Hope this helps. Good luck. 🍻
Inhale during squat, exhale when plank, inhale when going down in the push up, exhale when up, inhale before jumping, exhale in the air
Prefiero hacer una flexión al bajar, en vez de recostarme completamente...

Wasn't the most fun work I've ever done.

I know. That’s inhuman 😂
Thanks for the video great tips, but sorry you speak too fast I had to back the video to understand
Yea I've noticed that with my older videos. I've gotten better with my new content. Thank you for the feedback! I appreciate it. 😁
Your last tip on not doing a squat: wouldn't shooting your legs out before your hands hit the ground cause added stress on your wrists? 🤔
It happens almost simultaneously, so it's not a lot of stress. Plus that's why you lower yourself towards the floor first so it's not a lot of force.

jangan banyak bicara😡😡😡😡😡
Chest and thighs should NOT come in contact w the floor. You wouldn’t do a push-up in that manner. The burpee incorporates a push-up.
Could you please share with me the universal burpee manual that states you should NOT let your chest and thighs come into contact with the floor. Thanks. 😚
