What I’m talking about is plays that have NEVER been duplicated before. To clarify, MJ has the iconic free throw line dunk, but a lot of guys have done a free throw line dunk, so that wouldn’t qualify. On the list is probably going to be Vince Carters dunk of death, because although players have jumped clear over a defender to convert a dunk, NO one (to my knowledge) other than Carter, has done it over a 7 footer in regulation. So now that you understand the logic, SUGGEST AWAY!!
What about the time Larry Bird knew his shot was off and was going to go right so he ran to the right, jumped up, caught his own rebound and laid it in before ever touching the ground

I gave him another spin on my nba2k draft class. The older nba in its way was too stagnant for certain players and he would be a monster in the current nba. I think Keith Van Horn and Sam Perkins would be amazing too.
Look no further than Cavaliers' great Mark Price. For his career, he shot 47.2 percent from the field, 40.2 percent from three and 90.4 percent from the free-throw line. Put differently, he was close to being a 50-40-90 guy for his entire career! During his prime, from 1988 to 1995, he scored 17.6 PPG and handed out 7.8 APG with insane 48-41-91 shooting splits. If it weren't for the fact that he and the Cavs kept running into Michael Jordan and the Bulls seemingly every postseason, he may have even hung a banner in Cleveland.
Kevin Johnson is criminally underrated; people only remember his tenure at Phoenix after his recurring hernia issues left him a shell of himself. Even basketball "pundits", who should know better, profess that Charles Barkley didn't have anyone around him to offset the Pippen/Jordan effect without noting that Kevin Johnson wasn't the same after his hernia issues (though, to his credit, he played through them). For anyone who believes that I am overstating my case, look at Johnson's points per game and assists per game averages in the PLAYOFFS when it matters the most. Johnson accomplished this against great competition, like the Magic Johnson-led Lakers (this was before Barkley joined the Suns). It is a travesty that K. Johnson isn't in the Hall of Fame. Arnett needs to remedy this dearth of respect by focusing on K. Johnson in a segment on his channel.

He was a great player and was fun to watch. He was like a machine when he was on the floor. Awesome video. Being from Ohio, Price was my favorite player growing up. Other than Lebron he is my all time favorite Cavalier. He should be in the HOF. He also won a gold medal in 1994 on Dream Team 2
I grew up a Bulls fan and watched almost every Bulls fan since before Jordan up until maybe a year or two after he retired. So I saw Mark Price play a lot in this dude was a killer and is absolutely one of the most underrated players in NBA history
I loved Price. I’ve said for years he one of the best. The injuries robbed him. He should be mentioned when they talk about Grant Hill and how we were robbed of greatness because of the injuries.
1993 All Star game was the first NBA All Star game I ever saw as a country bumpkin who never got to watch basketball. Mark Price that game made me a fan having never seen him before. I still remember watching him from our hotel room during a snowstorm and being captivated by that little dude.
Thanks for this video. Mark Price was my favorite PG growing up. I even tried modelling my game after him but I didn't have the speed nor the handle that he had. Plus, I realized he had amazing balance on his jump shot. He uses a two foot jump stop on his pull up after running at full speed. That is very difficult to pull off and isn't even taught anymore. These days, players are taught the 1-2 step for better balance.

Great vid. One very important aspect that's often overlooked is his toughness. He was TOUGH af and had no switch to turn it off. He didn't back down from no one and would go at you on both ends. He'd get knocked down by 7 footers, get back up, and go at them again and again. I can easily see him being a top player today, he'd be far more efficient and deadlier in this era, perhaps 2nd or 3rd best PG considering the rules and style of game. He could easily be a 50 40 90 in this era for his entire career with a green light to shoot more. Modern training and medicine would add more years and athleticism to his game as well. Yet another factor we need to remember when considering old school players: They didn't grow up with the 3pt shot!!!! It wasn't something that was practiced to the same degree as it is now. The training has improved dramatically and the emphasis on the 3 has improved as a result. There's tons of 3pt shooting drills that help improve one's shooting, from form, technique, balance etc. Today's players don't simply go to the gym and shoot a bunch of 3s like they did in the past. Everything today is more calculated and focuses on proper consistent form over just taking hundreds of shots. So taking all of those factors into consideration, he'd be an even deadlier shooter, healthier, more athletic player. To the point that we'd probably be arguing if he's as good as Curry (perhaps?).

After looking into it more, Steph was born in March, the cavs played their last game in a first round loss to MJ on May 8th. Then Dell was selected by Charlotte in the expansion draft in June. Last year of his career when he was old, slow and about to retire, they start tracking steals and the dude averages 2.6 which is higher than most point guards ever averaged in their entire careers. During that time in the 90s he wasn't underrated. But I think it's time goes on. He becomes more underrated. I would argue that. Rod Strickland is still probably the most underrated cuz even during his actual time of playing he couldn't make an all-star team even though he was an all-star player

I haven't watched any of the video, but a thumbnail of Mark Price saying he would be a menace today is completely right. He was Steve Nash before Nash. His Cavs teams were good, too, just not as good as the Bulls. The Cavs were actually fun to watch at the time. They were the best passing team in the league and were particularly good at interior passing. They had some really athletic forwards in Larry Nance and Hot Rod Williams and a high-skill big man in Brad Daugherty. They would have been better today than they were at the time, and they were good then.
Imo, one of the most perfect jump shots of all time. I found an old article back in the day (Time magazine?) Explaining the mechanics of the perfect jump shot. It featured dudes like Price, Kerr, and Paxon. I've always preferred shooters over anything else. Honorable mentions, Dale Ellis, Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, Dell Curry. I just love the mechanics of a text book jumper. Now, PERSONAL preference... I prefer less jump in my jump shot. Less effort, higher shooting pocket, quick release. I'm old now lol.

Backi in the 90' when I started my bb adventure, I tried to model my game on Mark Price. For 6 ft white boy from Europe, he was alongside Drażen Petrovic - the gold standard.

Everyone says how certain players would have dominated todays game. Mark Price is the guy I point to when people say Steph Curry couldn’t have done anything in the older physical NBA
Price is tremendously underrated, indeed. Had he been in more of an offensive-minded team (i.e. Nash) or non-defensive league (i.e. Curry), no doubt his numbers would have seen 25-50% boost. Arguably, he was a better defender than those two while potentially a better shooter considering the era of defense and his being the main distance shooter on his team.
I always say it's laughable how new nba fans say so many guys from the past couldn't play into days era but their are many whose games would actually benefit from just how different the game is called like mark price would be a borderline superstar if he played today
Agree he is underrated. Might have gotten more attention on a stronger squad. I don't think 34 is that young for retiring. Sure the ACL injury didn't help but 6 foot is small in the NBA. When you lose a step at that size it hurts more than it does for those guys who are 6'4 and up
I usually agree with you but I hate the narrative that great shooters from the past = modern NBA superstars (and yes ik you didn’t say that) But no, I think he was better in his era than he would be today, while yes, he is a great shooter, there’s just so many guards with better ball handling and passing abilities than him, he would be utilized more as an off ball space creator, like a JJ Reddick type of player
Underrated in history is a label I dislike because most of us couldn't claim to know (without a bunch of research) the impact of some really great player in the 50s or 60s who got injured after 3 years or something like that. I do think in the last 35-40 years he is underrated and somewhat forgotten/overlooked along with guys like Kiki Vandeweghe. I do think he would love the soft defense free game of today where you can't sneeze without getting called for a foul and traveling occurs every 3rd play.

I haven't watched any of the video, but a thumbnail of Mark Price saying he would be a menace today is completely right. He was Steve Nash before Nash.
His Cavs teams were good, too, just not as good as the Bulls. The Cavs were actually fun to watch at the time. They were the best passing team in the league and were particularly good at interior passing. They had some really athletic forwards in Larry Nance and Hot Rod Williams and a high-skill big man in Brad Daugherty. They would have been better today than they were at the time, and they were good then.
the only teams i worried about back in the jordan years were price's cavs and indiana with miller, the davis bros and smits

Imo, one of the most perfect jump shots of all time. I found an old article back in the day (Time magazine?) Explaining the mechanics of the perfect jump shot. It featured dudes like Price, Kerr, and Paxon. I've always preferred shooters over anything else. Honorable mentions, Dale Ellis, Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, Dell Curry. I just love the mechanics of a text book jumper. Now, PERSONAL preference... I prefer less jump in my jump shot. Less effort, higher shooting pocket, quick release. I'm old now lol.

Everyone says how certain players would have dominated todays game. Mark Price is the guy I point to when people say Steph Curry couldn’t have done anything in the older physical NBA
Price is tremendously underrated, indeed. Had he been in more of an offensive-minded team (i.e. Nash) or non-defensive league (i.e. Curry), no doubt his numbers would have seen 25-50% boost. Arguably, he was a better defender than those two while potentially a better shooter considering the era of defense and his being the main distance shooter on his team.

Agree he is underrated. Might have gotten more attention on a stronger squad. I don't think 34 is that young for retiring. Sure the ACL injury didn't help but 6 foot is small in the NBA. When you lose a step at that size it hurts more than it does for those guys who are 6'4 and up

But no, I think he was better in his era than he would be today, while yes, he is a great shooter, there’s just so many guards with better ball handling and passing abilities than him, he would be utilized more as an off ball space creator, like a JJ Reddick type of player

Underrated in history is a label I dislike because most of us couldn't claim to know (without a bunch of research) the impact of some really great player in the 50s or 60s who got injured after 3 years or something like that. I do think in the last 35-40 years he is underrated and somewhat forgotten/overlooked along with guys like Kiki Vandeweghe. I do think he would love the soft defense free game of today where you can't sneeze without getting called for a foul and traveling occurs every 3rd play.
