For reference I'm a GM tech. If you look on each side of the bottom of the glovebox door when its open. There are 2 small screws, one on each side. You remove those and the box comes right out then you can replace the cabin air filter. Much easier than trying to do this and risk breaking something. Cheers!

Thank you for the screwdriver trick because I DON’T have the strength of Superman to press the sides in. Gave it a few frustrating tries before screwdriver trick and the damn thing finally dropped. You saved the day 💋
On top of the glove box the black tab with the circles pops up is a safety lock to prevent it from coming out just lift up and with a pop you can depress the sides.
Thanks for the info. Jiffy Lube told me I didn’t have one. When I went to the dealership to get tires put on, I asked about it. There is one, but they said they didn’t have time to change it because they would have to remove the glove box, I have to make a separate appointment. I have a Nissan Juke. ?!!
Should be easy to do cost less & be quicker than going to the dealer. Order one on Amazon watch a UA-cam then buy yourself something nice with the savings!
Boy...It was a knuckle scraper for me to do that for my Nissan Leaf. Was not fun. But it was worth it to me as the old filter was in need of replacement.
Remove the two 7mm screws holding the hinges on first then simply tilt the box a bit and it will come out without heaving on the sides. Gonna need the room anyway to clean up the typical leaf strewn mess that’s gonna fall out of the air box. 😬 I think the 2015s and older the box hinges just unhook whereas the 16s and up have screws.
Hey Rusty, I found Amazon has the best prices for air filters & I write the date & mileage on the side of the filter so it remembers when I changed it and helps to know when it needs to be done again. Same thing for the engine air filters.
@@friendofvinnie We have a large Amazon warehouse house in our area which employs locals pays property taxes. They collect Florida sales taxes so I don't see a difference and their prices are competitive with convient home delivery. As Rusty says you do you & I do me...enough said about that ;-)

Two points. To get the glove box open, there is a slat at the top clipped to both sides. Push it up to un clip it and then you do not need to be Superman nor use a big screwdriver. To remove the glove box use a 6mm socket and remove the screw on each hinge. They do NOT slide out and you will break it if you pull on it.
We went decades without these.

The screws are Hex Bolts on a 2020 Spark.

Helpful quickie here. I've read nightmare stories from people who finally change the filter after many years. It can get extremely crusty! 🎭🤖

hey Rusty, it looks like the piece with the 7 rifle crosshairs needs to be raised up before the sides will collapse in.
They charged me $60 at the dealership to replace the cabin air filter on my little ol Sparky. I wish I would have watched this video.
Take the two screws out of the bottom of each side of glove box. Then the box comes out easily, no fuss with the rubber/plastic holders.
I purchased an aftermarket air filter for my Hyunda and could not get it to fit. The Filter purchased from Hyunda fit in with no problem.

Chevy made changing the cabin filter a pain in the you know what.
I had to remove the whole glove box and the ECM from behind the dash on my Mazda 3. That Chevy is a piece of cake.
