Your first attempt shows your RPM at 3 when you accelerated to 60mph. Your second attempt shows your RPM at 6 when your at 60 mph. I thought the sign of a CVT going bad is that your RPMS goes high but your MPH stays much lower. Funny thing is I can't find a reason why a car like yours with low mileage at 14454 is having a sporadic problem like this. I have a 2016 Nissan SR. When I had a CVT problem it read 57000 miles on my odometer and I had higher RPMS when accelerating while the car speedometer showed a reading much lower than normal. BTW I changed my transmission fluid at 30000 and my CVT still died. I now have a lawsuit related warranty extension on the CVT to 7 years or 84000 miles. This included 2013-2016 Altima models. So far your model is not included. I'm glad you fixed your. intermittent problem. I will try your trick as a way to extend the life my CVT. Thanks for sharing.

CVT are very sensitive to temperature, i take my 2020 sr on road trips and I’ve noticed once I get off a free way after a few hours the acceleration performance takes a nose dive. I’m sure this is a different issue altogether though. I will say I do like this car it has been pretty reliable so far.
Yes they are sensitive to high heat and the setup I have now it runs smooth no bogging down at all. In this video found out the throttle controller on the gas pedal was sticking. I had to do some major research on the Nissan forum to pin point to that situation.
Crazy I just noticed that the early video the redline was yellow. And in the later it was red. I need to test this on mine, ive literally had the most variable performance of any car I've ever owned with this car. Sometimes it goes like hell and sometimes it just sounds like it's struggling to move. WTF
This is why my next car WONT be a Nissan 😂. I currently have a 2013 Altima SV, and honestly it does fine even at 193,000 miles. But I’ve changed the cvt fluid pretty often, and the filters both in the pan and the cvt cooler return. For my next car I’m looking at a Honda Civic SI with a manual. Either that or a Toyota Camry. The hell with Nissan and their CVTs lol I’m tired of worrying about it
I feel you on that I just wish they go back to the automatic/ manual transmission but the cvt is very fuel efficient though but has its own flaws at times but I still love the car overall

@@ehh2681 yeah that would be nice for it because the engine itself has enough power to get out there it’s just that bad delay it’s has with the cvt but when I’m using the paddle shifters I can get my manual feel from it
@@TheRealCountryBoyModz the thing with CVTs is there are slightly different from regular automatics especially when getting off from the line. There is normally a lag but then after a bit it picks the speed effortlessly but it's just that one has to get used to it especially coming from a regular automatic. This is a toyota CVT that I'm talking about here. It's just most manufacturers are going that cvt route except one or two brands.
It's the WOT (wide open throttle) switch. Pushing accelerator all the way down is ~80% throttle. Pushing it down past the WOT switch is ~92% (all according to what the ECM sees). The WOT switch is just that....tells the ECM when you want to GO! It enters open loop WOT enrichment and the CVT allows the engine to rev higher yielding your best rpm and gear ratio for maximum hp and acceleration. The gas peddle has a mechanical detent and click built into it about ¾ of the way to full throttle. With the engine off, push the throttle past ¾, you can feel the click. If you are cruising in Drive mode, assume 6th gear and low engine rpm, and do not push the throttle past the ¾ click, the CVT will stay in 6th gear and accelerate slowly. However, if you push the gas peddle past the ¾ click, the CVT will downsift, increase engine rpms, and accelerate much more quickly.
Thanks this is great information here I always wondered about that and thanks for posting this. Is it a way to bypass the switch to get 100 percent throttle

Actually all that was replaced before under warranty in my first issue video due a bad engine harness shorted out a bunch of modules but this was actually the throttle controller on the pedal was stuck no issues since I did this too it
there is a button on the back of your gear shifter and you press it to put the Altima into sport mode and there is a little S that should pop up net to drive on your speedometer.

Mine either, but mines is doing a rumble vibration thing at low rpm’s and low speed while I’m barely on the accelerator. And it’ll just bog down like hell sometimes when I take off from a stop at a light then all of a sudden it’ll take off like a damn rocket
Hi. i had this problem about six months ago, it appeared while im on a highway, the gas mileage was bad and the rpm was little up high, and when i accelerate it feels so goofy (no misfires!) when i arrived home i left it off for about an hour then i tried it again, the problem was gone i really dont know what the cause but i changed my cvt fluid and filter when i reached 50000KM just as a precaution. now six months later problem never appeared again
Nice and found out it was the throttle control sensor on the gas pedal getting stuck in a certain position I haven’t had a issue since I did this trick
Yep it was for some reason the throttle responder on the pedal was in a stuck position but it’s fixed now the way I did things in the video it was weird… thought it was the cvt but it wasn’t
Actually the issue was not the cvt it was the actual throttle sensor on the gas pedal. Honestly upon my research majority of the Altimas experience that issue and many people think it’s the CVT and it almost went back to the dealership. I even thought it was but I haven’t had an issue since I did this. The most common issues I’ve seen that are mistaken for the cvt going bad are the ( throttle body, mass airflow sensor, and throttle sensor on the pedal) which all could be malfunctioning through the wrong voltage going through them. I am actually in progress of a video explaining my experience about the CVT. Now I’m not saying that all Nissan cvt out there is great because it is some out there that’s trash lol but I’m just speaking from what I’ve researched and experience with it.
So I kinda noticed yesterday it wasn’t doing the best on gas, it just didn’t really want to go to the (eco) part of the compression ratio. So today I filled it up drove it a while, and something just didn’t seem right it didn’t really like going above 40mpg on the instant readout, when usually it can ride in the 60-80 range usually at ease. Today it just wasn’t doing it, I was averaging barely 26 trying my best when usually 32 is easy to average. Needless to say after ranting! I did this on method had car off, and pushed the gas pedal quickly kinda with force about 6 times. That drive back Everything was normal 41mpg, would easily glide 40+. So weird 🤔 I took it to Nissan Tuesday for the washer fluid sensor, and after I got it back it was weird 🤦🏻♂️. Also suddenly my oil plug was leaking, and I’ve done oil changes for 20k miles now never an issue. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ I hate dealerships frfr. Thankfully I was planning to do an oil change today otherwise I wouldn’t have even known. Thanks for this video!
Most definitely you’re welcome and glad you caught that and once my stuff is out of warranty dealer will never touch it again… sometimes they be setting you up
That would be nice but you would have to just drop the maxima Shell onto the q50 chassis which would be probably the easiest since it’s rwd but anything is possible these days
My 21 versa is faster then that something is definitely wrong I’m surprised well seems like they’re failing already good thing I got 8 year warranty on mine
Yes you are correct you can use the paddle shifters anytime with or without sport mode. They activate the simulated gears once you press them at anytime. I just like engaging them after I put it in sport mode…
I have a 2020 Nissan Altima and when I press the gas it coast for 3 seconds and then accelerates but the other day it started sounding like it’s in N while in drive 😑 I hate this car
Yes it definitely should and these cars definitely get out faster at quarter throttle when coming out the hole but now it’s definitely a difference… I’ve seen some people using pedal commanders and roar pedal for throttle response but I think this is a good natural way
@@TheRealCountryBoyModz I tried resetting the pedal. I got it to click and then pressed it 3 more times and cycled the car on and off 3 times. Didn't notice much of a difference. I think the factory pulls a lot of timing out of these cars. Their has got to be a good dyno tuner that can do a mean tune and change the entire car. I don't think an air intake would do much. Never did on any of my other cars.
@@IanRLewis nice maybe yours was already good but if you ever get the issue I did at least you know a way to reset it. I did some customization to my intake and fake vents where the fog lights go still in the progress making my own. @@TheRealCountryBoyModz I think so also. I had this problem on my Hemi but I found the wire to cut on the tcm and it made it much faster out of the hole and shifting. The factory limits a lot of cars to protect the transmission. Just need to find a good tuner because on the Nissan their is no magic wire to cut.

Hi. i had this problem about six months ago, it appeared while im on a highway, the gas mileage was bad and the rpm was little up high, and when i accelerate it feels so goofy (no misfires!)
when i arrived home i left it off for about an hour then i tried it again, the problem was gone
i really dont know what the cause but i changed my cvt fluid and filter when i reached 50000KM just as a precaution.
now six months later problem never appeared again
Nice and found out it was the throttle control sensor on the gas pedal getting stuck in a certain position I haven’t had a issue since I did this trick
Honda has the same problem with teir CVT transmissions .
That’s crazy this solution was able to fix it though
It's not a cvt issue I'm this car though
something most def was wrong with that car because I have a 2011 2.5 S and when I floor it like that it would have been gone by now
Yep it was for some reason the throttle responder on the pedal was in a stuck position but it’s fixed now the way I did things in the video it was weird… thought it was the cvt but it wasn’t
The only way that I would buy a Nissan is if I can get the standard transmission because that CVT is a no go nothing but problems.
Most definitely you’re welcome and glad you caught that and once my stuff is out of warranty dealer will never touch it again… sometimes they be setting you up
The cvt transmission need to go if i could swap a q50 transmission and drop it in a maxima that would be good
That would be nice but you would have to just drop the maxima Shell onto the q50 chassis which would be probably the easiest since it’s rwd but anything is possible these days
My 21 versa is faster then that something is definitely wrong I’m surprised well seems like they’re failing already good thing I got 8 year warranty on mine
I don’t have that foot parking brake bro, I have an electronic parking brake on my 2021, does it work the same way?
The other process should work and you can try to engage and disengage with the electronic brake
Put it on sport drive and press the acceleration pedal all the way until it clicks, you're welcome. Have fun
😂
Cars are all made for fuel mileage now not power.
I think you have a misconception of the purpose for the video
I am able to use my paddle shifters without putting it in sport mode sometimes. Explain that.
Yes you are correct you can use the paddle shifters anytime with or without sport mode. They activate the simulated gears once you press them at anytime. I just like engaging them after I put it in sport mode…
Make sure it has fluid
Everything was good just the sensor on the gas pedal stuck in position
I have a 2020 Nissan Altima and when I press the gas it coast for 3 seconds and then accelerates but the other day it started sounding like it’s in N while in drive 😑 I hate this car
If you are still under warranty I would take it back to the dealership to get checked
Mine is faster out of the hole of I give it quarter throttle. Will this fix that? If I floor it from the hole it's slow.
I do agree about the tuner because I think this 2.5 has more in it than the factory is allowing
@@IanRLewis I know right lol
Do you have any issues with it now? I see this is from 9 months ago. Just curious I have a 2020 Altima sr , 90k on it but I don’t get on it but sure want to lol
No issues at all ever since I did this and I get on it all the time it won’t hurt it
Everyone bashes these things and can’t see why. At least not yet , I’ve had mine for 6 days today , 40 mpg is nothing to complain about just my first cvt..
Any recommendations on what to upgrade from stock? Doesn’t seem to have any issues even at 96200 miles
Sorry for blowing your video up with comments lol is that your daily in your pfp? Looks sweet. Any other tips would be appreciated I don’t know anyone that drives a Nissan , but won’t let the people that doubt ruin it for me
@@FFTR999 just keep up your regular maintenance on it and you will have no problems… most people that bash them hard never driven one or had one but there are a bunch of horror stories out on the previous generations but these feel like Nissan did them right
I know this video old i just bought a 23 altima tryna mod my joint i’m looking for mods can’t find any
I have plenty of videos on my channel of what I have but you definitely have to use universal parts for some things just got to be creative and look on Amazon and eBay for things
Hey bro. I have a 2019 nissan altima s and it’s doing the same thing. I tried your method but mines doesn’t click?
Was the environment surrounding you quiet? It may have clicked but did it fix it though
@@TheRealCountryBoyModz yea very quiet. But hasn’t fixed anything
@@cesars2692 try letting the car sit for a few and reset the car removing the batter cable… if that doesn’t work might have to take it in if it’s still under warranty
Would this work on my 17 Altima sv?
I’m sure it would I tried it on my 2014 Sentra SR and it worked
Its working ok now with no major issues?
Yeah no issues since I did this and it was never the cvt just that throttle controller on the pedal was getting stuck.
@@TheRealCountryBoyModz ok thank you
@@adassawinters9711 you’re welcome
I would have taken it to the dealership !
I was until they said it would be until next week to fix it due to no slots being available. Not waiting on them unless it’s not drivable 😂
Maybe don’t get a turbo on ur cvt
Lol it’s definitely gone get supercharged but haven’t had an issue with the cvt just the throttle controller was stuck and needed that fix
Can you write down the steps please.
At 4:01 the steps begin…
1. Press gas pedal all the way down until you hear a click sound. ( do this three times )
2. Engage and release parking brake ( 2 times )
3. Cut the stat button on and of ( 3 to 4 times )
4. Put your foot on the brake and start the car
What if you have the electronic parking break
@@verbalfist not sure exactly you can try engaging it then disengage it
@@TheRealCountryBoyModz During the full moon with a toad in your pocket
thats sad, Nissan used to make cool cars back in the day, now they make toaster/blenders they are crap...
Lol mines been great since but it is some bad ones out there but I can say they should’ve kept transmission options for all vehicles
It’s nothing wrong with the nissan cvt
Nope it’s not actually great overall for daily driving
@@TheRealCountryBoyModz ? Wdym
@@carswithdaley the cvt is not bad found out that the entire issue on this video was that the throttle control on the pedal was stuck but the actual cvt is not bad on this car and it’s great for daily driving
Lmao, I hit that 0 to 60 in my 2011 Altima before I shift into 3rd on manual mode in a few seconds. Mind you it has over 255k miles 🤣 people just don't know how to take care of shit
Lol 😂 I know how to take care of mine haven’t had a issue since I fixed it. Throttle controller on the pedal was stuck in position. I thought it was the CVT but turn out it wasn’t and remember I had that other major issue going on before this which had me close to taking it back for good
@@TheRealCountryBoyModz not saying you don't, just the people in the comments. I knew right from the start it wasn't the cvt. You would feel it rubber banding if it was going bad or whining. So sad that I just smoked a deer in mine Sunday. Have had for almost 6 years with not a single issue besides suspension and brakes. Made me sad honestly lol
@@SignifiedSix lol I know and trust me I’ve seen the comments 😂 and yes you are correct about the CVT when it goes bad but you got me rolling over here about the deer
looks normal
I actually fixed it in this video
@@TheRealCountryBoyModz nice car
@@omegaman7241 thanks appreciate it
LOL, it's a Nissan. Go buy a Toyota Camry then no problems. Best of luck owning the Altima though.
Lol all cars have problems but everything good now with it
Buy toyota that ill fix the problem
Lol wouldn’t complain if I had one either
Nissans are ass I don’t care for mine
Sorry your experience is bad but this issue was just the throttle sensor on the pedal was stuck and not the actual cvt.
