  • Part 2: These are great speaker choice for anyone looking to improve the performance of their car/truck without the addition of wiring to an aftermarket amp. Although these speakers can be powered from an aftermarket amp in addition to the factory Amp. This ability makes them in my opinion the best all around speaker!

    I have the same truck. What I did was the opposite. Left all the stock speakers on and added a 5 channel 600w amp. With a Rockford fosgate r2 10 in subwoofer that fits behind the seat. That difference was amazing. We all think that the stock speaker suck but in reality they are lacking power from the stock amp. My stock speakers now amplified sound super loud with a nice clear highs.

      @borregitoferoz 4 роки тому +1

      Also you have to look at the impedance. Stock speakers are 2 ohm which require less power to run.

    • @so5thgen

      Victor Borrego absolutely right! This was my phase 1. That’s why I recommend for anyone looking for noticeably more sound to only do the dash speakers. I plan on adding an amp to power my infinities and a small sub. Send us photos of your setup to So5thgen on Instagram ! Appreciate the comment bud

      @@borregitoferoz It's actually the opposite. lower ohm speakers typically need more power to get to full potential. Sensitivity rate works the same, higher sensitivity, the less power the speaker needs to start moving and making sound.

    • @borregitoferoz
      @borregitoferoz 4 роки тому +1

      @Tom Arnold not true. Dealerships know that a 2 ohm speaker will sound louder with their weak ass system than with a 4 ohm. Also amost all after market amps will put out a lot more power at lower impedance like at 2 or 1 ohms.

      I have the alpine system also. It sounds good for a factory sound system, but it certainly doesn't sound good compared to anything aftermarket. The speakers are worse/weaker/cheaper to replace than a $50 pair from walmart. They all go for $15-35 per pair. And yes, you 100% get what you pay for when it comes to car audio. That's exactly what they're worth compared to a hertz, focal etc. Even these entry level reference speakers are many times better.

    I just bought a 2020 Ram 1500 2 weeks ago. I have the JL Audio c7's ready for install. I'm still working on the sound deadening but also waiting on getting the PAC kit. I'm going all digital this time around. I'm in no rush at the moment and taking my time. Since these speaker require being active I have to run all new speaker wire and that's gonna suck. I did it on my 2015 charger and it wasn't fun.

    Ive had my 2020 ram 1500 crew cab for almost 6 months and I can’t find anything on why my stock sound system just sucks so bad. I just feel like it’s not loud enough even though it can go all the way to 30 it sounds the same after it hits 20 and it drives me nuts. It gets loud at certain times and then automatically lowers on it’s on on certain parts of the song. And it’s the same if I use a usb or Bluetooth or Apple CarPlay. It sounds a little bit better in the radio but I don’t listen to the radio. I think upgrading the speakers and an amp is the only thing I can think of that will make my time in the truck better and solve my problem. Did you have issues like this on your stock sound system in your ram?

      I had an in depth conversation about this very topic yesterday with a Crutchfield rep and we came to the conclusion that it may be the noise cancelling mics in the ceiling. People thought I was nuts when I mentioned that my '14 did the same thing. From 1-24 its fine, but from there up to 38(max) it doesn't change. My '20 does it as well and I can't stand it.

      I have always wanted a sweet set up in my vehicle. I bought the 20 RAM Laramie with the Alpine speakers and I love it. I've had it for 9 months and feel no need to upgrade. In fact I embarrass my kids when I have the bass turned up.

      Hello Guys, Just bought a used 2020 1500 crew cab with the 12" screen and I absolutely hate the stereo when you try to turn it up. It literally bounces the sounds and cuts it down. I too think it's the roof microphones maybe thinking it's distorting or too loud. Does anyone know if a speaker upgrade will solve this or should I go with an amp also?? Thanks!

    I compared the Infinity Reference 9633 with Hertz Uno X 690 & Focal ICU 690 using Crutchfield's sound simulator. I know it's not apples to apples, but to me the Infinitys sounded much tinnier. The Hertz & Focal both sounded the best with the Hertz picking up highs & mid-range better, but the Focal doing a better job with the bass.

    You should look into making a "L Pad" resistor for your front dash speakers. It would only cost a few bucks, and you'll be able to cut the output from those speakers by an amount you choose (I would recommend 6 db which uses a 2 ohm and a 4 ohm resistor for each side). They are super easy to make and will allow you to drive the front door speakers to their full potential without having those dash speakers so overpowered. It will make a night/day difference for a couple hours of time and less than $10 in resistors...

    So, an update would be nice? Its been how long with these changed? I know no amp, will it get much louder or does it get stopped from the noise cancellation?
    Thanks man!!

      Wondering the same thing. I didnt see the value in getting g the alpine, but learning how hard a custom setup is it may have been the wrong call.

      I’m still not running an amp / sub setup yet. But don’t forgot you need a dsr1 to tap a singal off the factory amp and add a aftermarket amp/sub. Sub wise I was looking for something small possibly a sub/amp combo sealed in.

      Assuming you have an alpine or Harmon package? But to my knowledge you would still have to add a secondary amp with a dsr1. The factory amps don’t have any extra power laying around to send a subwoofer

      I bought a JL Audio StealthBox for my 2014 Ram that has a 10w3v3-2 sub in it. Puts out excellent bass. When I bought my 2020 Ram, I found the StealthBox fit perfectly under the seat and was secure so I just used it. The make a Stealthbox for 5th gen Rams as well.

      If you can get the factory sub out of the box, put some polyfill (pillow stuffing) inside the box, then put the sub back in. Don't over stuff it. Very cost effective way to get a little more kick out of the factory sub.

    • @Frindleeguy

      MTX thunderbox for bass, or any truck underseat box with 8's or 10's, and an amp behind the seat. Kappas for the front and rear if you're on a budget. Focal or Hertz if you are on less of a budget. Go to crutchfield to find your overhead tweeters and the 3.5" for the dash. Add a DSP behind the head unit, use the crossovers that come with the component speakers up front, and add a mids and highs amp.
      I'm doing mine one step at a time. Getting the bass right first. 2 x Audison 10's under the rear seat, 2x excelon 400w amps and the DSP are in. I am debating how much to spend on the door speakers next. $500/pair for the Focals, or $1300/pair for the Hertz. If you can go listen to the Hertz in person you'll understand my dilemna :)

    Hi. First and foremost, great series of vids! Really appreciate your help. Bought the same exact (6) speakers and followed your lead with no issues! However I’m hearing the fronts and dash cut out periodically whenever I crank it up! I’ve adjusted the fade to lean towards the rear and that seems to have stopped that issue, but by doing that the volume up front lessons dramatically. Do you have any advise on that issue? Secondly, there were (2) resister looking items included in the box, what are those for? Thanks again!

      Adam Tussey I added the resistors to mine and the popping stopped about 95% of the way. The Infiniti dash speakers and front door speakers have less bass than the factory speakers. I wasn’t very happy. I tested each speaker by installing one side for the dash and fading left right from Infiniti on the left to factory on the right. Did the same for the door speakers. And again the factory speakers had more bass but less clarity and treble.

    • @misfitdad4073
      @misfitdad4073 3 роки тому

      @@adamcuse34 that is due to the fact that the Infinity are 4-Ohm (resistance) speakers which require a bit more power for full potential. By adding an amp for instance the JBL Stage A6004 would be an awesome upgrade for these door speakers. This particular amp doesn't require a LOC either, because it's built in, so you can just wire it right up and go.
