  • Testing out the 11mm TTArtisan fish eye lens on my RED Komodo and LUMIX S5 iiX has been a wild ride, check out my thoughts and advice on how to get the bet out of it.
    Sample footage - • TTArtisan 11mm fish ey...
    It's available in pretty much all the mounts and is priced very cheaply for a niche lens. It was a challenge to get my head around it but once I did, II had a lot of fun!
    Buy the lens here (affiliate link) - amzn.to/3QXnKWa
    (I make a small commission when you buy from this link - no extra cost to you!)
    This is not a sponsored video but they did provide the lens for review. Thoughts my own.

    I love the confliction of "trying to use an unprofessionally wide lens..... professionally". Looked like a fun time.

    Ed, that was the best opening shot on any UA-cam vid ever! 😂😂😂 You nailed it when you said this is a lens you have to lean into. Nice work mate 😊

    Yeeeeesssss love the old skate video vibes! Totally agree with the whole 'leaning into it' thing, had a similar experience with the Laowa 12mm, although not necessarily as extreme as there's minimal distortion, but when it clicks some of the super wide stuff you can get is wild. Lovely vid man!!

    Probably going with this because the LAOWA L mount is just as pricey as other other mounts without having autofocus.

    Is most of the footage shot with the fish eye in this video on full frame? making it around 17mm or is this 11mm on apsc? Great video

    • @EdProsser
      @EdProsser  2 місяці тому +1

      Lens is EF, goes on EF to RF speed booster. So you get the full frame equivalent of the lens on a super 35 sensor! Gets you wider

      There are some Lumix shots in this vid, but maybe yes! Not sure what difference it would show given that a number of these shots are with the speed booster, so the same field of view as on the LUMIX S5

      @@EdProsser I don’t really understand about cameras and lenses, so what do you mean with “EF” and “E”? It is a present for a friend who owns a sony fx3 and I don’t know if that TTArtisan will be compatible. I’m sorry for the questions, but thank you so much :)

    • @EdProsser
      @EdProsser  3 місяці тому

      That's no problem! So every camera brand has its own lens mount, it's like the attachment that the camera has for the lens. So lenses come in different versions for a specific camera brand. For Sony cams you want to get the lens with an "E-mount" so it'll attach to the Sony FX3.
      The EF-Mount is an older Canon mount, but it can generally be used on most modern cameras with an extra adapter. So if you own multiple cameras from diff brands (with diff lens mounts) that's usually a good choice.

    My heart cries each time I see people lens correcting a fisheye.
    Also if you want more fisheye get the samyang/wallimex/rokinon 8mm
    Or ideal case canon 8-15 with a speedboster for crop sensor
    First choice is the cheap one prolly not as shap in the corners

    • @EdProsser
      @EdProsser  7 місяців тому +1

      Haha I agree! Just wanted to show it can be done in case people wana shoot on a crop sensor and use it more as a standard wide without distortion (i.e. Get more use out of it).
      Most of the 8mms are for cropped sensors so they're a similar FOV to an 11mm. Wondering if there's anything wider for FF coverage?

      @@EdProsser My mistake! Looking back at a few filmers doing Nike's Debacle (first full HD skate video) they used the Rokinon 8mm T3.8 Cine, which is for crop sensor. Those are everywhere for less than $200. They also used the rokinon 14mm (which is FF). My current on the go all around bag is the 11mm artisan, 35mm, 85mm, and 135mm all on the a7riv. Love the 11mm artisan especially with the IBIS.

    • @EdProsser

      Interesting - does it play well with the IBIS? On my LUMIX S5 iiX I find anything below 35mm + IBIS produces a lot of warping, I tend to disable it. I guess 11mm is probably the limit for FF focal lengths
