Duty Free prices in some airports are not competitive. Be careful. Duty free is not same as profit free! London Heathrow and Delhi have good prices and selection.
@ it also involves networking and asking your friends who are travelling to help in the collection. Most of the times, buying at a local store in a foreign country is cheaper than duty free.
My favourites to day as per my experience 1. Coal ila 12, Bushmills 12, Aultmore 12, lagavulin 16, and clylinsh 14. I found them extremely good. Highly overrated r japanese Not value for money thats my personal opinion

My principle is to add gifted whiskeys to my personal collection. Or ones bought from airport duty free shops.
Rye whiskey is a great whiskey as well. I would highly recommend Angel's Envy Rye

Under Rs.1000/- there is only one according to me which is the best...it is Highbury Classic..in Kolkata it comes for 1020/-.

Pick up whiskey that are good but are not popular brands, mainly from craft distilleries in different countries.
