  • Bobbejaanland is a large theme park with 8 roller coasters, located in north Belgium. They're home to a variety of quirky, odd attractions, such as Revolution, Fury, King Kong, and an indoor log flume.

Bobbejaanland was created and owned by Bobbejaan Schoepen and this man was a country singer, singing in the USA.
When he was getting old, he wanted to settle down and created a peace of USA in Belgium, which grew to the park it is now...
I used to go there a lot in my youth and I still have a cassette recording of his whistle solo, haha!
Personally I like Indiana River, which is like the prototype indoor log flume, like Valhalla at Blackpool Pleasure Beach...
Dreamcatcher is the oldest suspended coaster in the world, so it's a shame you missed that!
    Greetings from the Netherlands...

Bobbejaanland has some things coming for the next season for 2023...
Indiana River is no more so u were lucky that you've experienced that classic... It is now being rethemed into Terra Magma and will be opening in May.
The park will also open 7 themed zones. Some of them got a new name.
And lots more... So it will be worth the visit soon after some years... ;)

The previous coaster standing on the plot of land where typhoon is located now was a Schwarzkopf looping star and they built the looping of typhoon on this perticular spot on purpose since it was the same location the looping of the looping star once stood in honour of the ride that put Bobbejaanland on the map in the early days... My opinion they better kept the looping star.. they still are fantastic smooth coasters❤

Indiana river was named that way because of the Aztec Indian theming ... Just so you know. Since the ride was built already towards the end of the 80's it had become an icon of the park because many generations have ridden it over the years and in Belgium it had gotten some kind of cult status. So it's sad seeing it rethemed but always better then demolish it i guess

Bobbejaanland Build too many family coasters in the last 25 years. It only needed a kick-ass wooden coaster. In the 80s and 90s, and early 2000s, It was the best park in Belgium by far. They kept building big rides every few years. Air race(vekoma suspended) 1987, Revolution 1989, Indiana river 1991. And Fly away 2003, Typhoon 2004 Sledgehammer 2004, Oki-doki 2004.

As a Belgian, i used to love the park back in the 90’s/early 00’s but it only fell further into dispear and made some really bad choices/investments and also the overal upkeep of the park is very bad, same for their operations. Lost glory

    • @timdruyts5025
      @timdruyts5025 Рік тому +2

As a Belgian, Bobbejaanland is not bad. It's just okay. Their operations are normal. Not Europa-Park fast, but also not Spain-slow. For an American coaster enthousiast is Bobbejaanland maybe a half day park. But there is enough to do for the general public to fill a whole day.
I agree that there were to many bad investements the last 20 years. (Banana Battle, splash battle indoor? Forbidden Caves, immersive tunnel?)
The big problem for Bobbejaanland is that we are spoiled in this region. A normal attraction park like in the 90's is not enough anymore. And people cross the border more easily. (Also parks outside Belgium advertising on television in Belgium.) The competition is big. With full themeparks (who invest a lot last 5 years) like Walibi Belgium, Plopsaland, Efteling, Toverland and Phantasialand. And also Parc Astérix and Disneyland Paris are not far away.
Bobbejaanland is just an attraction park with a littlebit of theming. But we Belgians are just much more ordinary these days.

That just feels like a Parques Reunidos moment. Its the same with BonBon land up here in Denmark. Was once independent, had its glory days in the 90's and early 2000's when it was one of the premier theme parks here. But ever since Parques Reunidos took over the park between 2006 and 2007 it has gone downhill, with a lot of neglect, very little new stuff, and the new stuff they added being very subpar to the stuff before it. The place did get some TLC between my visit in 2017 and my latest in 2022, but it came at the expense of a lot of park charm and character, all while the park still severely needs new investment.

Typhoon was my very first inverted coaster. I used to visit Bobbejaanland annually as a kid and teen. I went back a couple years ago and got an annual pass. Their AP's were dirt cheap back then, €70 for the most expensive pass which also included free entry and discounts to many other amusement parks and zoos so it was a no-brainer. It's a cool park for younger teenagers but not much repeatability for adults. You can get discounted tickets pretty much everywhere in summer and those cheap prices also attracts many unmannered and rude individuals. Very different audience compared to e.g. Efteling.

I think Bobbejaanland is my least favourite park I've been to. Not the worst, but for the amount of rollercoasters and how big the park is it sure is dissapointing. That King Kong ride for example is really boring to be on. It's very tame, you're just slowly lifted and lower a few times. And many of their rollercoasters aren't that good either. Revolution has a boring layout and the theming doesn't make any sense. To be fair my ride there was some light slipping into the hall worsening the experience. The spinning coaster is almost coming to a complete stop on every block break ruining it's pacing. The vekoma invert is just a bit forceless and boring. When I was there fury wasn't opened yet so that does bring a good ride to the table. And Typhoon isn't bad if you don't mind a rough ride. But mostly it's family friendly rides without much or incoherent theming and middling layouts. So for the size it is, I'd say a dissapointing experience.
