@@funkymish Ditto. There are so many great cars out there from other manufacturers and it's saddening to see them not get the spotlight. I do enjoy Alex's content and the shenanigans and whatnot but I enjoy the more intricate parts of motoring that this channel covers, and there's no real agenda either -- anything goes, and that's what makes it great IMO.

Picture this - A lovely welsh road, My first time visiting, I didn't know there was any roads where you could drive for 20miles without turning off. Anyway - Old dear driving a Hyundai going 40 in a national. As soon as I went for the overtake, I misshifted (Could have gone alot worse - High 4th into 3rd when I wanted 5th....) She then decided to put her foot down to match my speed. The race was literally on.... I hate that woman. I still had her. But she made me really evaluate my life.

That "Is she 15 or 16" joke is so on the nose hahaha, you know we all saw some girl from secondary school being driven down to Maccies on lunch in her BF's Type-R. Everyone thought it was weird, no one said anything.
In my area it was usually corsa drivers it was most peoples first car haha.

@samholdsworth420 in MLE (Multicultural London English) "certi" can be used in place of words like "awesome" or "sick" to convey one's admiration of something. Typically used in sentences like "that's certi bruv". It is the shortened form of the word "certified".
Edit: "'bout that life" is a reference to engaging in a life that is "on road", or one that includes many nefarious illegal activities like selling narcotics in the streets or stealing. People that engage in this lifestyle are typically called "roadmen". MLE is also a type of vernacular English used by said "roadmen" as it is spoken by much of the lower class in and around the London area as well as many other urban cities in the UK.

those 2.5 turbo 5 cylinder engines are MONSTERS. Unkillable, can build insane horsepower. And the fact that you guys both bought two of the most tuneable and unkillable engines ever made is giving me hope that this will be a very good and exciting series!

They have weak cylinder liners because they are an open deck design. They can take moderate power, anything more you need to modify the block to strengthen it and maybe swap the liners if you want to make big horsepower. It's head off and a fairly significant job but yeah, afterwards 500bhp and beyond is no problem
Unkillable? If it's the same 2.5 T5 that's in my V70R then they die on stock power due to cylinder linings an even quicker when modded
They're not unkillable
only way they can handle even 100bhp more than stock, is to get it block modded... so no theyre not monsters... theyre good, but not "monsters"
Buying the cars for each other is a fun twist on the "we buy cars" trend - it's nice that you both got cars the other would be excited about too, I'm sure we'll see that enthusiasm in the videos :)

TDC has quickly surpassed all other UK automotive content I watch. Great mix of technical, fun, and great presenters. Don't give up showing the "how" part of upgrading your cars like so many channels slowly phase out please!

A leaderboard would be cool if you're going to continue to buy cars and modify them. How much they're bought for, the HP and how much after modifying. Can keep track of all the cars you buy too this way.

I had a similarly dodgy EP3 years ago. Did 40,000 miles in it, many at 8000rpm and it never missed a beat. Sold it to a policeman who then immediately wrote it off! Great cars
The sheer amount of content that you lads fit into a video is fantastic - you must be working your arses off. Many other (ahem) channels would have milked this into one video buying each car, another looking around them and another on the dyno.

I'm gonna love this series, being a hot hatch lover myself. And speaking as an American, we technically got these in America, but different
- The EP3 Civic Si has some slight differences. The K20A2 in the Si is down some horsepower, the Si is only a 5 speed manual, 4 lug in pre-facelift models, different body work, no LSD, the list goes on. But the EP3 body was sold in America and only as an Si, nothing cheaper or less powerful than that
- The Mk.2 Focus was only sold in Sedan and Coupe variants in America with a slow 2L Duratec. But we got the Volvo C30 T5, a Volvo model running on the same platform and with the same engine as the Mk.2 Focus ST. It didn't have the cool colors of the Focus, nor was the C30 sold only in a Manual like the ST
So what you're saying is, you didn't get these in america

I have one in my garage that was smashed front and back. It was repaired poorly and Im jelous about frontend fitment on this one. Looks much better than mine

Great video - enjoyed that ! The 2,000 rpm tick over on cold start on the EP3 is fairly normal, supposedly to warm up the cat quickly and meet emissions. Not so great when you have a loud aftermarket exhaust, and you need to leave the house very early in the morning! The Idle Air Control Valves get gummed up over time and can lead to a surging tickover.
This is quickly becoming a better channel than auto Alex

I got my first EP3 Type R brand new in 03, loved it. Bought a brand new Focus ST2 in 06 (it was ok) sold it after 4 months and bought a brand new pre reg 55 plate CTR Premier edition. Had way more fun in the CTR’s. To be fair, ST had just come out and there wasn’t much available at the time. Both great hot hatches.

Bought my Performance Blue ST when i was 21, owned it 6 years and transformed it from standard to around 330hp, typical Airtec on the cooler, Bola B1 wheels and all the usual vents and splitters. Sold it 2 years ago and now have a forged RS but I do miss the old girl 💙

So the US didn't get the Mk 2 Focus at all, much less the Mk2 Focus ST, nor did we get the Type R version of that Civic. We just got the Civic Si. As a former Mk1 Focus SVT (ST170 in the UK) owner and long time Honda fanboy, I've lusted after both of these cars for nearly 20 years. I'm thrilled to see them both of them on your channel, lads!

Wouldn't worry about the AFR of the Focus. The ECU logic will always try and target lambda 1 even at full load. It only starts to enrich when calculated exhaust gas temperature gets high or it starts knocking.
I really enjoy this channel always want the builds quickly but the more patience the better results, these guys are living our dreams.

FYI the ford's engine was used in the Volvo C30 T5 and were well known to be have played down from factory from the stated 225/230bhp.
With many getting between 240-255bhp from factory
easily become the best car chanel on youtube and its not even close.
