- Take a mesmerizing tour of Shanghai's French Concession, known for its European charm and architectural splendor. This is no ordinary exploration-two automobile fanatics lead a fascinating car spotting excursion. With its charming alleys and lively boulevards, the French Concession is ideal for this unique journey.
Shanghai's hidden gems, from the exquisite Mercedes-Benz G-Class parked by the sidewalk to the ingenious Xpeng G3, a tribute to China's electric vehicle expertise, emerge as the voyage continues. Xpeng G3, with its lidar sensor, combines utility and modern style to let travelers easily film their voyage with a 360-degree camera.
Shanghai has a broad and active automotive culture, including Maserati and Aston Martin and cutting-edge electric automobiles like the Buick Velite 6, which is not sold in the US. This inquiry is about the automobiles and their tales, from the resurrection of British names like MG to Buick's makeover to meet China's electric vehicle demand.
The Lynk & Co 03+, a Chinese automotive icon of athletic elegance, is a highlight of this trip. Its distinctive style and tremendous performance contradict Chinese automobile preconceptions, revealing the country's changing car culture. The streets reflect China's diversity, from the inexpensive Wuling Hongguang Mini EV to the opulent Hongqi H9, the "Chinese Rolls-Royce."
As they explore, the fans discover the MG brand, revived under Chinese ownership, and the Denza, a Mercedes-Benz-BYD collaboration that foreshadows electric mobility. From the small Buick Velite 6 to the grand Hongqi H9, each vehicle on this voyage offers a tale of invention, legacy, and the Chinese automotive industry's global significance.
Join us on this thrilling tour of Shanghai's French Concession, where the past and future collide and every corner holds a fresh discovery. This trip celebrates automotive culture, design, and progress, not just vehicle spotting. Stay tuned as we explore Shanghai's beauty, power, and innovation to capture its dream-like pace.

“If you buy a Maserati, you pay for the exhaust, you get a car for free.” lol
this better be a series, so entertaining
I agree ..''Car spotting in the worlds supermarket carpark''
I'm seriously considering it.
i saw a street interview asked an American what do you want to know about China . he asked: does Chinese drive
That's hillarious
He should ask: does China really exist
good footage. after 5 or 10 years and you look back on this footage and you will feel this is a well-made documentary to remember something.
I wish we had these in North America honestly these cars look amazing
I think they'll eventually get there.
Fun experience of mine: I used to see myself as an 'expert' about cars because I could recognize 99% of the car on the street when I was high school student in China. Then I
watched this video. Now after studying several years of engineering abroad, I can recognize less than 60% cars in Shanghai, which is worse than most people, LOL
Any cars you can find in China markets, biggest markets in the world
As a Shanghainess who lives in U.S now, I could never imagine that some American dude will do 'top gear' style shooting in my hometown one day.
haha... top gear? that's high praise.
Kai you are missing a lot of fun over here !!
@@WalkaboutRojo Not to worry , you will never get there ...you don't have the O.A.F gene.
Random tours in Shanghai to observe new trends is so nice! Thanks!!!
make this a series please, so much fun to watch.
that's the plan
The lync 03+ dont have 7 speed DCT,it have 8 speed AT.
The 7 speed DCT is available for normal 03 with 1.5t and low output 2.0t engine with front wheel only.
All four wheel drive car in lynk&co series(including 01(four wheel drive only),05,03+) use 8AT
Nice video... Loved this from 🇮🇳
My favorite video on your channel! Your friend knows so much! We want more tours!
You got it!
Enjoyable to watch! More please!!
5:27 I remember seeing a BMW M4 in Toronto that has a BMW Brilliance badge. Some Chinese humor.
9:37 lol that security guy must be thinking 'what these guys doing on that car?'
I had a blast watching your car vids. This one is a cool idea as well
I'll have to do more.
First! And it's my first time watching such kind of street spotting video! Each time I go back to China there're more cars on yhe street that I don't know.
Glad you enjoyed!
Loved the video!!!
Thank you!!
This is really, really good guys! You should do this again!
tough.... but we're going to try.
Come to Beijing and make some more episodes. pls....
''Build your dreams''.....''Downforce on your rear wing''...or the perennial favorite ....''Take me home make you happy''
Interesting video 👍
Subscribed you two's channel not long ago together, because I kind of think you guys have some in common. You gus are smart, knowing opportunities are rich there, I hope you do more and better programes in the future. GOODLUCK and Maybe we'll meet someday, MARK.
I hope to do more in the near future.
Love the video / concept. One point, Maxus was a van model by LDV in UK. Had to look it up as never heard of Maxus before. The new Maxus brand sell EV vans in UK, but I've never seen one.
Thanks for sharing!
This is very fun video, love it. You shall do this often if possible, would you please? ❤️
That's the plan!
no way, you did a video with the guy from that channel hahahah nice one!
Kudos to you, do make more of these videos, thanks.
Thanks, will do!
Fun Video indeed!
I like your sense of humor!
thank you
@16:54, one correction,Denza /腾势 is a JV brand between BYD (not BAIC) and Mercedes-Benz. Actually its technology is from BYD.
haha.... well, we can't get everything right. Thank you.
Great video, Paul+
Many thanks, brother! Cheers!
Well this was fun.
Yes Cool Cars, never been there,Thanks
Chinese car market is honestly exciting. Majority of the world, its the same car brands and same cars you see. In China it's that plus Chinese car brands with weird or cool or copycat designs.
14:10 luckin coffee lol
17:21 Denza was actually came out of BYD (not BAIC) and Mercedes
I am very familiar with the city of Shanghai. Very interesting video
Glad you enjoyed it
that lynk & co 03+ has 8AT, 7dct are for the 1.5t 03
great video by the way!
Danza is Mercedes Benz and Byd I think
wheelsboy really knows about cars in China, much much better than many car reviewers in China.
he's one smart dude.
Nice video, I could feel walking with you in shanghai street.
Glad to hear that
Denza is BYD&Benz thing.
17:17 Denza is the joint venture between BYD and Mercedes Benz. Basically a rebadged BYD Tang ("Styled By Mercedes Benz"). Not very popular for that reason.
Wow he is even better looking without glasses. ☺️
Good Bro~from Shanghai
19:40 you guys stopped at the worst spot to end the video. 😂😂😂
batteries died. more on the way.
Hey Brother, hope you're doing well, I'm not sure you recall my prior comments on videos. But I'm buying a car in China and have found an M6 Haval 2020 model for a reasonable price, would you consider this car to have a bigger boot if you have experience compared to your H6, I'd like to hope they are similar if not the same size.
IT's essentially the same car as mine, but updated. The size is slightly larger than mine, but not by much.
The number plate in Shanghai is very expensive and now very hard to get, if you get an electric car they give you the number plate, the green tinge plates are electric cars. My pet hate is the matt spray paint, its so cheap to spray a car in China, they get them re sprayed in crazy colours, but the matt is like dishonoring the car, its like undercoat, YUCK! You see heaps of that in Shanghai, too much money!
Sick channel bro
gracias.
Ive had my license about 8 years, have a Highlander, love it. Great for driving around Shanghai and out to the factories, I have to drive about 6hrs in different directions, its been so reliable, and safe driving amongst all the trucks. Just a reminder, your first license is for about 6 years, they don't send out reminders, if you miss renewing it and get pulled over, its a big drama, not a small error like back home, big fines and possibly detention, so make sure you pay attention to your license renewal date :)
I had a toyota for many years, great vehicle. owning a car in china is not required, but it is a lot of fun and worth the hassles.
Please film more cars in the street is interesting 🙏😊
will do.
17:20 Actually, Denza is a joint venture brand made by Mercedes and BYD.
good video ... do more please
I'm going to be doing more of these this summer.
denza is joint venture between Mercedes and byd. Mercedes did the outlook and interior, byd did the platform, battery and control system.
excellent! Thank you for the the updates.
chinese cars are so beautiful ... very surprise to me ... hope they can go international and I will get one with the electric
more video like this pls
I'm going to try to do a few in southern China this summer.
@@WalkaboutRojo great
Ethan is very easy on eyes. :)
Shanghai banned wuling mini ev. A pity
I dont know if there was isuzu mu-x, i only know this car available in south east asia.
I can't be sure. I don't recall seeing one here.
Around the 13:00 mark you mention and show the Chevrolet Orlando only in the China market, you are not correct, around 2012 in Canada had the Chev Orlando for sale.
interesting.
Does your friend work in the auto industry? Very knowledgeable.
check out his channel... Wheelsboy.
It is recommended that you buy a microphone for better sound reception. It's not expensive but will improve the quality of the videos.
I just bought some for both my cameras. I'm a simple, poor teacher so upgrades come slow. ;)
Hey, forgot to blur the plate at @9:22
Correction: Denza is made by BYD and Mercedez.
copy that, thank you for pointing that out.
Pls do one for Shenzhen!
Yes.... i should do one there as Shenzhen has a great car scene. I'll do that this summer.
It's like many people all around the world consider Chinese characters "COOL" as they don't see these very often! In China it's hard to find English words anywhere you look at so when these companies add something written in English makes it pretty "Foreign" and "cool" but in reality.. well.. We all know 🤣
Yeah, it's a good point.
you know those chinese cars a lot better than most of the Chinese do lol
how did you two hook up? let's have a drink in the french quarter and see how you guys hold up.
birds of a feather.
As for BYD, you may not know that these three letters are the abbreviation of a very vulgar dirty word in many Chinese dialects. It even makes its English name look a little more decent.
haha.. i have asked some of my chinese friends, but they said they didn't know.
@@WalkaboutRojo In northeast area of China. There's a word "逼养的". Write in Pinyin is "Bi Yang De". Which means "raise by a nauty bitch".
It seems that Chinese manufacturers love to revive bankrupt British brands.
After all, we are behind the UK on traditional gasoline cars. So it's a good to catch up.
saic bought a bunch of those all together in 2007
Also Bogward, one of the worst German marques ever.
you guys are talking about your dream cars in front of a public restroom in China.
“build your dreams” -- the lamest badge on earth. hahahhaha
I really hope they stop writing that on the back.
@@WalkaboutRojo I saw someone rearranged the letters to be "Be Your Dad" on his car to make fun of it.
Dude, has anyone told you that you look like Thanos and Joss Whedon?
nope, i haven't heard that one yet.
牛逼
居然还有纳智捷🤣
偶尔能看到。。
could you please cover the plate when you talk about someone else's car.
it's a little paranoid.. there's no reason for me to do that... but, i get it. done.
much much better.
The girls screaming why you see cars but not seeing us!
What’s this wheelboy actual job? English teacher ?
no, he does a number of things I believe.
Kind of reminds me of the Baltimore ghetto. Lots of nice cars there too, except they are owned by drug dealers and pimps and driven over potholed roads in neighborhoods full of boarded up houses. 'Merika, fock yeah! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Except you won't be mugged or robbed
@@markuc That too. 'Merika, fock yeah! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
