That is not always possible for a new or small company, so if your product is 5% better you have a better chance to grow. In fact, smaller changes make a big difference. For example, if you make a hoodie, then add a pocket or something to say you are different unless you make an electric car which is nearly 0% possible, kudos to him he did it.

This advice is true. But most ultra successful businesses are not the first of its kind. Trying to fixate on innovation is the wrong move imo. People don’t take into account CAC (customer acquisition costs). Teaching your potential market on the product costs a lot of money. If your product or service already exists in the market place you have a lot more data to go off of. I think nuance is really important in this matter. Are you going to come up with a new streaming service than can out compete Netflix? That’s very difficult as they have so much more capital to work with. On the flip side, let’s say you have a product or service that’s revolutionary, that potentially solves a problem that people don’t even know they have. That’s also very difficult.

It's possible to enter a competitive market if people trust and love you in the first place.
For example a lot of influencers (youtubers, tiktokers...) after reaching a certain amount of followers and building a good relationship, start their personal brand and sell their own products.
And it works despite the competitive market they enter, because there followers loved and trusted them first, so they systemtically trust any product that their influencer tend to sell them. :)
However if you try to enter a market and nobody knows you it is gonna be very hard unless you ask someone that is trusted to promote you. Its the fastest way but can require big money investment.
