hardest part about playing the drums is find a place where you can actually pratice.
Indeed. And electronic kits just don’t do it for me.
That rtom blackout heads and those new quiet cymbals are good
There are ways, for sure. broomsticks, hot rods, brushes, If you have to piss people off its worth it to achieve your skills.
The clarity of her playing is what stands out the most to me.
Her strokes are super confident too, totally owning it
Exactly; that left hand is super clear. I don't care the right arm swing if the sound is there. She'll bring it down with time and keep the power. So many drummers have weak strokes and just never find a way to get more power and clarity.
That snare crack gives me the feels. 🥰
She has a very solid playing.
More and more woman power on Drumeo. Like it. I like how she admits she is not perfect and has not mastered it all. Like her modesty. It is good to not exclusively have the 'gods' of drumming on Drumeo (although that is great too!) but also drummers who are in the process of learning themselves and show their path and the obstacles to others on the same path. It's a good direction, Drumeo.
Thank you! :)
Voto Grav what a cool name u have....love it
Sums up my thoughts on this, seeing someone is very talented through hard work, but not at that stage of experience where every thing is played with god-like ease, makes it seem more "human", the struggles we can all associate with, at whatever stage we are at.
well said my friend
Her drumming has awesome patterns and tons of musicality. This is the first time I've seen her, but she's great. Sometimes, the drummers that come out here are super-technically proficient but their drumming is kinda boring or lacks groove. I know a bunch of cynics are busy criticizing how high she moves her arm on the high-hat hits, and maybe it does look a little silly, but it sounds fantastic and that's what counts to me.
Completely agree with you! A lot of drummers "drown" the beat in ghost notes and then you get this lack of groove. You must always find the right balance of using the tricks from your technique treasure chest and being clear on the expression of the groove. And Jessica keeps this balance really nicely! Keep on the good work!
I fully agree: her timing is _very_ clean too.
And in regards to her large amount of arm movement: it's actually something I find kind of admirable, because I can't figure it out! When I play, my arms _barely_ move, and I always felt like I kind of "underpresent" myself, in a way. It always made me think that I'm uninteresting to watch, but I have kind of been realizing lately that there are just different styles, and I'm just more reserved in my physical movements on the kit.
Big stick height great pocket strong chops lots of emotion in her playing 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
She's great and you guys have consistently great sound and mixes!!! Lets have a tour of your mix facility please!!! The drums are also tuned impeccably and it seems like Meinl is taking over!!!
So impressed with the finesse and dexterity! As a beginner I can look up to this fantastic drummer ! Thanks for this great guest!
Fantastic video! Great to see you on here, Jessica. Way to go. Super well spoken, and some fantastic playing along with tips! Keep growing.
Thank you, Max! :)
Great lesson, nice job Jessica. I love that Jessica is an everyday person who made it to Drumeo next to the biggest pro drummers of our time, just because she loved to drum. I loved Nostalgia. Waiting for the release.
Such a beefy snare! I really love the kick snare floor tom flange at 3:23 and her ghost notes are beautiful! Really good interview! Thanks Jessica, Jared and Drumeo crew for doing these types of interviews! So informative and motivational!
Those cymbals sound fantastic
Amazing drummer! Thank you for this video🥁👌🏼
She is amazing!!!! Best wishes from Argentina!
The mix of that intro song was impeccable
such an unique grooves...respect for this woman
She's great.
Enjoying this lesson. Some valuable thoughts on approach here for drummers looking to make their practice more in line with goals. Exercises seem scaleable from simple to complex and beginner to advanced, which is helpful for teaching too. Thanks for a great lesson.
Amazing!!! thank you Jessica Jared & Drumeo !
Haily crop. Wow..... not thinking how can a.... girl... but..... oh, I'm stuck in whoa.... this is SO good. So life changing on so many levels. Nice. Hats off!! Imagine playing in a band with this incredible drummer! What an inspiration! Cheers, thanks for sharing.
Great Lesson! you're an amazing drummer Jessica!
Game changing....... This lady has mastered what is required by a piece. I so love this.
This is so comforting sounds
Most Excellent Presentation
That song in the beginning was so dope. Lot of skill shown without being over the top.
I love the song in the beginning! She’s amazing
What a natural player with a great attitude. Great stuff Jessica
Soooo good! One of my favorite vid on Drumeo

Wow, what a great drum sound, especially the snare drum...
Just beautiful. Great drumming
Nice. She really mixes it up. What can I say except the girl rocks man!!
Love that tune "Nos", really beautiful playing and melodies on that.
Excellent , keep inspiring people and take care ,be good.
Wow... sounds awesome
Pretty good drummer, and the lesson is inspiring and motivating. Very cool!
Love this channel im a super beginner and WOW love this channel
SO COOL~~~!!! Thank you so much for sharing such valuable information and the amazing performance !! 🤘🏻
Great lesson! And “how to practise” is so important. I just reviewed my drum practise in 2020, and essentially realised 3 out of 12 months gave all the progress. It is so easy to waste time doing practise that doesn’t yield much result, and hard to find which practise you need right now, this month. I enjoyed hearing this talk between Jessica and Jared, and nice playing too!
What a very cool lesson Thank's Jared :-) .
Why would you thank Jared you fucking weirdo
Fantastic thx for the inspiration.
Liked the music its so relaxing and great drumming too
Jessica, i loved the interview and how honest and grounded you were. I have followed Sina Doering in Germany a lot and she actually has spent some time writing me about her drumming and all that goes in her head, etc. I actually just sent her this interview. I think what you and Sine do is amazing and magical.. Thanks for a great and honest interview. I just subscribed
i love travis barker influence on you Jessica, specialie the posture its so obvious and the punch you got when you hit the drums, again nice playing and very nice drumeo course
Those drums sound great! and great playing!!
Jburd, been waiting for this
Wow never heard of her, but she's sick. Love her playing style and the music. I'll definitely have to check out more from her
Nicely done Jessica! Loved the song @ 33.35, well done!
Great lesson!
Excelente Mujer¡ me encanta el beat que tiene para tocar¡ hugs from México¡
Love this song Ambar !
Really good drum beats
She definitely knows how to play x-stick. Great playing, great sound. Thanks a lot
Baterizmo It sounds choked.
Great to see serious up & coming drummers. As far as criticism of her 'arm & elbow' movement... A crowd is not interested in economy of motion. They LOVE watching a solid drummer enjoy themselves chopping out a serious groove. A faster intricate track she'll pull in tighter out of necessity.
I'm in LOVE!!!
greeting's from Australia nice work :-) .
I Wish I could play like you! Such an amazing talent!😍😇👊
On the one hand, all the comments about technique are spot on.. On the other hand, her playing is so tasteful, so as long as she ain't hurtin' herself, let her do the thing!! Rock on!
great playing!
Super drummer and a very nice person too. Congrats!
I really like the kick+snare+floor tom tuplet!
Hi Jessica.great stuff pj here from Eire,Jared,s heel toe for single pedal works,i gave it a year and my doubles have improved .
Exceptional, bravooo
I love that curlers 😍😍😍
Looks like nice finger/hand control of her drum sticks- was looking for more use of rebound/wrists, but she’s more of a straight ahead rocker. Also liked what looks like references to Gary Chester’s New Breed method the way she works bass drum/ hi hat/snare combinations. I’m really a vocalist, but this inspires me to get back to the kit and practice the Allan Dawson (Berklee) warm up routine and Stick Control...
That snare is killer!!!
Amazing drummer !
Very nice!
Thank you! Очень интересная беседа! Very nice!
Love that High Hat work
You are awesome !
Wow, she’s awesome !
This is probably the best drum sound/mix drumeos ever had
Nice sounds.
Most powerfull in Drumeo!
That opening song had some tasty fills.
I like her. Excellent groove.
Amazing playing and beautiful, go girl 👍🏻
Awesome!
that first track is the shit
I'm in love😍
That intro is sick!
Four piece kit!? This gal is Da Bomb!!!
She´s a Groovemonster! I love her Style, very musical and a great Lesson too!
3 things . (1) Her toms sounds amazing. WHAT TOM MICs ARE THOSE? (2) I am so thankful for people like her. We need more young people that are good, have good technique, and seem "cool" to young people, thus inspiring more young people to play instruments. I am in my mid 30s and when I was in high so many people were in bands. Doesn't seem to be the case today. (3) Yamaha makes the best drum hardware by far. Their stands are incredible.
Cool fill she plays at 1:06
Great!
Damn that was impressive. Very nicely done. Those Meinls actually sounded good to me as well. Yamaha and Evans are a no brainer =P Your pocket is deep as heck, subtle stuff goes a long way. Take notes UA-cam.
Bring on the Pocket Queen #thepocketqueen
Hey bro I watch your videos! Good seeing you here
plays way better than most men. love the style too, keep it up!
yeah it's so interesting, I've noticed really just recently how even just bouncing my left leg, even if I'm not playing anything audible on the hi hat, really helps my rhythm overall. and of course it's all the better to be able to actually play hi hat rhythms as part of the beat.
sick!! i've been moving to metalcore and screamo, whereas i was most comfortable with alternative rock, pop punk, and emo. metalcore has me working the double bass and i quickly figured out one thing i needed to work on was nailing the double bass rhythm one the way back in from the fill. i was changing the rhythm accidentally. screamo usually has no double bass but there's these weird triplet blast beats. 12/4 timing i think? you have to be really good at triple stroke rolls which i am not yet. :)
i love her style holy shit
Nice plying
wow great stuff! what kit/sizes is she using? what kind of kick pedal? i'm going to look into Jessica, she is rad
What is her style of playing called? Is there a particular word for it? I wanna get into drumming and I’ve finally found something I’m 100% into
Holy shit I’m in love
This would probably be impossible but i would love to see a Bill Bruford drumeo lesson.
Man, Jared is good these days. He's pushing his guests while also staying very polite.
