Some of the gruul cards have gold borders and others have red green boarders. This irks me to no end 😃

It's only visible in the collection screen at least. It's fine in matches.
This is a bug. If you look at Scryfall, you can see those cards all have the red-green borders.
Match 4 absolutely brutal. Really hammered the lesson of going aggro-face to the red deck there xD

Bard class's +1/+1 counter replacement effect determines whether it applies to Klothys before Klothys is on the battlefield. At that moment, devotion is 6, so it's not a creature and does not get a counter. If bard class was worded as a triggered ability (i.e. "whenver a legendary creature enters the battlefield under your control, put a +1/+1 counter on it"), it would be different: then Klothys' devotion would count, and it would get a counter.
So technically you could have played Galia first to have Klothys enter a bit bigger, not that it mattered.
Cool deck. Love Explorer. Limited, Historic Brawl, and Explorer are all I really play anymore. Great content all around.
I absolutely adore the games where you have to go over the top with level 3bard class. Bardstorming is my favorite thing to do with these decks, and I'd often throw games because I'd rather do it than follow more straightforward lines that definitely won the game.
Yeah, the temptation is strong to level up even when it may not be correct.
After slapping this together and running it through the explorer queues, I enjoy this deck way more than the standard version, particularly because I feel like it gets to max Bard Class out way more often than when I played it in standard. It also just has way more variety of legends so you get to turn a bardstorm into a much wider board.

My brain keeps thinking the deck could do with one copy of Mirror Box. For those situations where you go off with Burgi, and keep drawing redundant Legendaries. Then again, that's kind of a "win more" situation, so not entirely necessary.

Bard Class is a favorite - great update for Explorer. I've wondered if a naya deck could be built around it, say also with Zirda discounting abilities.
16:41 just an interesting line, counters on Agatha would provide her ability to pump the squad (since it would only cost 2 mana, and that's exactly how much mana was left). Didn't matter, other way was still a win. Sweet video!

Try 2x of Zirda as creature … you will be surprised about the performance and the bare class last level discounted plus creature in board instead only leveling
I'm sure there are more expensive decks, but this is eye-wateringly expensive to a F2P player like me.

I will always be shocked LVD isn't pro, he understands the cards to a biblical extent. (Go pro dude I'm tryna see that top 8 deck teck on reid dukes salty tears)
I prefer building new decks as opposed to practicing the same decks over and over.
It's as beautiful as the day I lost it....

Explorer content has become pretty much the only thing I watch these days. Is Burning Emissary not good enough to slot into this list?
Used it in my previous Bard Class build. We have enough cheap Legends that we don’t really need it anymore.

Relic of Legends might work if you need specifically a mana rock that synergizes well with the deck, but just playing another good creature for the deck is probably be a good idea too (Goro-Goro, for example)
Oath of Nissa and Xenagos, the Reveler are both legal in Pioneer but not yet available on Arena.

Isn’t plaza of heroes a good land to use here, since almost every card you play is legendary, so it’s a dual land with upside?

Could try two copies, although problem with keeping hands with cantrips is tricking yourself into thinking that they will find Bard Class when it's usually better to just mulligan.

If you wait a few days you’ll be able to see the deck stats on Untapped, which will tell you how good the deck is. It probably won’t be a very competitive deck, but it’s fun when it goes off.

@@drejerm7856 He's definitely cutting losses out. He's a good player, but no one wins at the win % you see in these videos consistently. He's not hiding it either, it's been discussed in previous videos. I do think it would be nice if he gave the overall stats in the video description though.
@@brianh5844 he said that he cuts out games that aren't interesting like one player not drawing any lands or casting any spells all game, which is different from what you are talking about
Minor gripe
I orefer how you used to name youtube videos with the formsts in the title. I like to look for decks to play based on format and having to click every video to see the formst is a bit annoying.
Otherwise the video quality is as good as ever and i enjoy watching the videos
I understand change can be annoying, but there are still plenty of ways to see which format it is.
- It's written in the video description
- I mention it within 10 seconds of the video starting
- On my channel page every format has a separate playlist
- I keep the old naming convention on both Patreon and Aetherhub for easy browsing

I played Mirror Box in the previous iteration of the deck. It's nice when it works but often too slow. I would rather play 3x of most Legends and have fewer issues with the Legendary rule.
Yeah, I think mirror box is more suited for fun and janky plays when you just like to do silly thing and sadly it would slow down this deck, because most of the time if it go off - it could win without it just by using burst value and drawing (or rather exiling) through the deck, putting all good stuff and smacking your opponent. And if you not going off - then MB wouldn't probably save you.
So while its a more fun and interesting approach it would lower powerlevel of a deck (while, well, making it a little bit more endgame-heavy by allowing your to create bigger boardstate. So in some matchups it could be a good thing... But I think that this deck want to win as fast as possible using its mana-cheating and raw power)
I hate bard classes in TTRPGs, but love them in MTGA decks.
Why though. I think bard is pretty good in 5e

The bard is based. The idea the bard has magical powers in systems like 5E is cringe.
This deck must include goro-goro.
Agatha fills a similar role now, I've played Goro-Goro in past iterations.
Both have their advantages but it's good to try new cards.
Yeah both are pretty good depending on what you want. I like Samut and Goro Goro for haste. I want to try Agatha and Radha for the cheaper activated ability buff. Btw, have you tried Kodama of the West Tree? It ramps when modified creatures deal combat damage to players. I like it for hitting more gas with lvl 3 Bard Class.
@@BuckysKnifeFlip Legends that aren't both colors tend to underperform, but Trample is nice to have.
@LegenVD Definitely. The mana discount is so strong. I built mine more high-risk, high reward with West Tree triggers. You get to level 3 very quickly and dump your deck on the field. I like the consistency of the low to ground aggro version you have. It's much safer to play.
Have you thought about running anything like Embercleave or Henge in Bard Class? I love Embercleave with Taag Nar or the 3 mana Radha. It allows you to go more over the top. It's probably a completely different version of Bard Class.
@@BuckysKnifeFlip I would like Embercleave more in a version with Burning-Tree Emissary helping you get on the board quickly even without Bard Class.

Man, I just want to know how to get in the queue you were playing in. Whenever I play historic BO1 its 70% dimir+ self mill, 10% minion of the mighty, 10% greasefang, and 10% first time players who dont know what they are doing playing mono-blue flyers/counters and conceding on turn 4 when they counter the wrong thing and forget that partners has reach. The combo decks have yet to fail to have every part of their combos in more than 50 games either.
Just....not that. Anything but that please. I will happily play against mono-white and mono-red every game if it means that I dont have to play against 10 combo decks in a row that are obviously taking advantage of the fact that the shuffler is neither ok nor random.
Agatha says it can't reduce the mana costs to below 1, so how could the maze crusher be free O_o
You're right, 1 mana would be the minimum.

It's ridiculous how prevalent that card is over other options. Far to much utility packed into one mana.
Thats what I like about Magic. The game is over by T4 basically every game so the only cards that matter are the first 11 random cards in your deck.

The algo killed this game for me. I stopped playing when I learned that none of the matchups are random. The algo picks the winner, not a player's skill.
