We need part 2 pete, I had lots of fun with this RANT!
What about terrible albums with great artwork.
Maiden's No Prayer is more exciting than the music, even though I do like the album. The slow mid 90s Megadeth albums?
I have a few of those in my collection.... just bought them for the cool album covers.
I always thought Uriah Heeps covers have dated better than the albums (demons and magician I mean).
Some Yes covers are better than the albums, in my opinion anyway.
erlend steine anything by King Diamond then. 😂😂😂
DEEP PURPLE - Bananas
Deep Purple needs to go away. I love DP back in the day, they need to retire.
I can’t use that one as I hate the album just as much as the cover
I can't believe they didn't mention this one. The album, although not one of my favourite DP, is a lot better in terms of music than the cover
@@Ritchiearg Beside the cover, the album is not so bad. It's not Machine HEAD, but they have worse records then this one
@@anfrankogezamartincic1161 totally agree!
How about this for a next one: album art that misled you into thinking the albums were good
Brave new world by Iron maiden comes to mind. Fight me😂
@@erosbifebeef5115 Whoa, whoa, whoooaaa....
@@bryangarcia5599 other than a handful of tracks I find it quite overrated. Impressive for that late in their career, yes, but still I would rather listen to other bands/albums
Meatloaf -Bat Outta Hell ....sorry , im a metalhead ..sick cover, but id rather listen to Samantha Fox
Excellent idea!
Balls to the wall takes the prize...that is gag-inducing. You guys should do this again- this was hysterical!
Rich Johnson 😅 I bought that Accept LP the day it was released and I LOVE that cover..!!! 😂
We have a winner.
my workmates found my tape version of it - they never let me live it down - err london leather boys will !!!!! is there something your not tellin us lol - it went on for months
@TheTruthIsRacist wow!!! - thats shocking lol - i cant blame em, look at the stick i got , ha ha
There was rumor going round back in the day that the guy in the picture was Rob Halford.
"Dreased to Kill" is a great KISS cover... it's ironic, playing against type.
Exactly what I thought. I mean, read the album title.
@@ledzeplover58 exactly they were supposed to be dressed like "hard rock gangsters" in suits to kill I have no problem with that album cover
Me too, always loved it and the album's great. It's their bubble gum album, anyway...
Agreed, superb cover that one.
I like the cover. The juxtaposition between the Kiss make-up and the business suits is an arresting image. It does have an element of danger about it. Remember, mafia gangsters wear suits and they are certainly dressed to kill.
My favourite album of all time is the album with the worst cover of all time: "Sabotage" from "Black Sabbath". Bill Ward is pure horror on that cover.
And what is the idea of the mirror? It’s special because it allows you to look at your own ass?
To be fair, ‘pure horror’ kind of fits with Black Sabbath’s intended image (even if the pants don’t)....
According to wiki it seems the band was told they were just taking a test photo... guess they were sabotaged...
*I... AM... **_PETER PAN!_*
The music is great and the cover depicts the condition the band was in
-Metallica: Hardwired. The best album they've done in decades but the cover is terrible. What were they thinking?
Joe yeah it’s an awful cover
I think its kinda cool. Pretty weird though
To me Death Magnetic is worse. I get the concept but its boring and dull looking.
@@martinlundberg5308 Maybe but remember we are talking about "great" albums. Lol.
I agree. I did like Death Magnetic a lot more, but Hardwired has its moments. Awful cover though! Do these guys just have poor taste?
Dokken - under lock and key
Scorpions - world wide live
Yngvie Malmsteen - odyssey
Bruce Dickinson - Balls to Picasso
AC/DC - Flick of the Switch
I actually love the album Flick of the Switch but i feel like the weird pencil drawn white cover turned ppl off and didnt give it a chance.
Dokken - Under Lock and Key (what the F were they thinking?)
Yes - Going for the one (No one wants see that naked arse).
Black Sabbath - Technical Ecstasy (what are those things and what are they doing?)
Deep Purple - Purpendicular (whoever got paid a commission for that is a bandit).
Scorpions - Virgin Killer (I Don’t think an explanation is required here).
Agreed on Technical Ecstasy. It looks like the one object is pissing on the other!
@@Nick-qf7vt
It is supposed to be two robots engaged in some kind of sex act.
@@Daniel-415-Ponce Ah, now I get it! Hence the title! Still a pretty bad cover.
I don't like the "Bananas " cover art by Deep Purple. "Fireball and Burn " are awesome.
Bananas is a bad cover but, IMO, the album isn't great either. I think its possibly one of the worse LPs they ever released (and DP is my favourite group) and definitely the worst of the Morse albums.
The "bad cover", "great album" award from me for Deep Purple goes to Machine Head, One of the all time great records but the cover is really "meh", especially given the quality of the In rock, Fireball, Burn and Stormbringer covers.
@@davidk4170 I so agree. I first came across "Machine Head" in 1981 and after the quality of "Fireball," "Deep Purple in rock," "Come taste the band" and even "Made in Japan" as covers, I thought "what a load of twaddle !"
Purple up until 1975 did some of the best album covers of any band and consistently so......except Machine Head !
Deep Purple had a lot of shitty art
METAL CHURCH - Hanging In The Balance ... just awful!
That i'll never understand. I know the music company wanted that but why?
Yes. Horrible!
Totally agree. That cover actually put me off the album for a while, but I have been listening to it recently and it’s a killer of a record.
YES! Please let's have a part 2. This is funny as hell. I had to keep pausing to go and Google the artwork. There were quite a few Spinal Tap decisions made on a lot of these albums.
Balls To.The Wall made me bust out laughing. The winner there. Yes Part 2 is a must
Smell the Glove.
Hahaha!!!
Shark Sandwich
Hahahaha
That unfinished mock up for Maiden's dance of death cover was never ever intended as the finished piece. Steve Harris loved it and decided to go ahead and use it anyway. The artist was so appalled by Steve's decision he insisted that his name be removed from the album credit list. It could have been such a great cover if the artist was given the time to actually finish it properly, as he wished.
It's funny about Blind Guardian. Their logo was taken from the Bee Gees logo (the 'b' and the 'g'). I always wondered if that was okay to do.
Man the Scorpions had some fantastic albums with god awful artwork.
Black Sabbath's -Paranoid album art never really bothered me, it actually represents traces of paranoia.
To an 8th grader the year it came out, it was cool as hell.
Original title of that album was War Pigs. They changed the title shortly before release due to the Vietnam war., but by that point, the album photo had already been shot. They didn't want to piss of American fan base so they changed the Title to Paranoid at the last minute. Still a goofy cover though.
They had worse cover art like “Technical Ecstasy” and “Sabotage”.
@@sspbrazil For me Born Again is even worse. Both the cover and the music are bad, but for some reason I still like them.
At the time of release it didn't really bother anyone and the original gatefold opened up to a good picture of the band. Looking at it now though, it does look cheap and silly, after the classic cover of the first album (One of the best covers of them all). Master of Reality was not much better. Sabbath certainly did have some stinkers.
Hilarious show!
We want part 2.
Worst album cover : Scorpions Virgin Killer.
I always thought the cover to Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” would have been perfect if they would have named the album, “Fairies Wear Boots”. That little elvish warrior leaping out of the shadows was spot on!
The album was originally going to be called "War Pigs". They kept the cover art but changed the name. Still terrible.
Albums I loved with crappy artwork....
1.Snakes and Ladders... Gerry Rafferty
2. Thunder and Lightning... Thin Lizzy
3. Headless Cross... Black Sabbath
4.Malice in Wonderland... Nazareth
5. 4... Foreigner
Cheers,
John from U. K. 👍
Anthrax-Fistful of Metal, two right hands?!
Canteen926 I thought that was a great album cover
When I was a kid I thought the warrior dude on the "Paranoid" album cover was Jimi Hendrix.
I love the Dressed to Kill Cover..clogs and all:)))
Me too! Especially the back. Always intrigued me as a kid.
Worst KISS cover... The elder
I love 'Dressed to kill" cover 👊
They missed the boat including Dressed To Kill here. Great cover.
Yes tormato. From roger dean to THAT
lol!
I feel ya, and the band hated that cover too, and there's a story behind it. But I think _Going For The One_ was even worse with the naked dude looking at some buildings. Hypgnosis made some TERRIBLE album covers!
@@Justin_Kipper Both of those are good picks - the albums are underrated but yeesh the covers.... I still listen to Tormato and Going for the One to this day.
@@Justin_Kipper I was going to put 'Going For The One', then I saw this.
Music wasn't their best either
Chris Alo is hilarious! Pete - please keep this rant series on Monday night with the Hollywood squares going ! It’s one of your best series particularly with Chris Alo’s commentary!
Worst Album Cover - Rush - Hold Your Fire.
Catharsis Agreed - arguably their worst album and worst album cover - I remember walking into the record store on street date and said that’s it ? A plain red cover with 3 balls - how unimaginative! Particularly coming off the awesome covers notably power windows - all the 80s ones really up until that point. My favorite band - but terrible cover and arguably their most boring, mellow album. So disappointing!
The "dollar store Eddie" on the cover on that album was hilarious I couldn't stop laughing but I think "Balls to the Wall" and Sodom's album covers take the prize and yes Pete I definitely want to see a part two of bad album covers.......thanks for doing a part one
"Nothing makes an album cover age faster than putting a picture of the band on it, NEVER DO IT!" Abbey Road/Sgt. Pepper: Am I a joke to you?😄 Love you guy's rants.
Also Heart '85.
The Doors s/t
DEEP PURPLE - Shades of Deep Purple
When he said that I thought of The Beatles immediately. Nearly all of their classic albums have them on the cover.
_Van Halen_ (1978) & _Women and Children First_
Rush - Hold Your Fire, same goes for Dire Straits - Making Movies
I actually really like the Making Movies cover. Not very inventive or visually interesting but cool as a concept. Hold Your Fire, on the other hand, is god awful
I like the Making Movies cover, I think it's cool that they made it look like a library file.
@@jaspergillgannon4991 I wouldn't say it's bad per se...................it's just boring and lame.
Totally agree with all of these(except Dressed to Kill)
I’m gonna have nightmares about that Sodom cover
Winner here has to be Virgin Killer by Scorpions
Yes good one and "Lovedrive" and "Animal Magnetism" is just plain silly too
Marco Iacobuzio I love the lovedrive cover it’s rock and roll. Animal magnetism is a bit gross, but the original virgin killer cover is just pure bad taste and ill conceived.
@@holydiver73 I would probably like the Lovedrive cover alot better if the two people weren't dressed in high society attire it would be rock n roll/metal if the guy had a leather jacket on with jeans and a scorpions t-shirt and the woman were wearing a tight leather skirt and maybe a half ripped scorpions t-shirt
lurch321 a bit of fun.
I think Virgin Killers is an unspoken given...but no one wants to get arrested!
Does the guy in the bottom left corner have his own podcast? Because he should. I would definitely subscribe. He's hilarious ! 🤣
Chris is always great .. check out he and Pete doing Sabbath and Judas Priest history of.. good watch both of them .. :-)
The album cover is pretty terrible. That can't be Eddie! It looks like some creature lifted from a bad 80s thrash band. The album itself is pretty "Meh".
@@lemonpillow I hate Final Frontier. I can't find one positive thing to say about it.
@@markwebb1040 I think the band was trying different things. Which can be good for some bands. Or bad (Cough..cough..Load.. Reload...). But here they just forgot to rock it out and keep your average Maiden fan from nodding off.
He owns so much Black Sabbath memorabilia that he could literally open a museum to display it all.
The cover of Hotter than Hell was worse than Dressed to Kill.
Miteyoak agreed
Miteyoak Looks like a carnival nothing scary there.
I agree it’s “worse,” but still a decent cover. But yes, it’s not hard to criticize. After all, Hotter Than Hell looks like a cut & paste Japanese bootleg.
Carnival of souls is worse
Rock and Roll Over was pretty bad too.
How about UFO "Mechanix"? Someone had some fun with Microsoft Paint!
Most of their album cover art were rather uninspired.
Most of there covers were hipnossis
SCORPIONS Fly to the Rainbow WTF!
I don't know what the hell was in the water in Germany but nearly all of their covers are terrible.
The first album cover that comes to mind which I hate but love the album is Blind Faith's self titled album. Fortunately my CD copy has a black and white picture of the band. I can't believe Blind Faith got away with that back in 1969.
Yeah, that and Zeppelin's "Houses of the holy" would never fly these days ~ even though I really like HOH.
The original Blind Faith album cover is not so much titillating (pun intended!) as it is just plain tacky. If the intent was for it to be edgy and erotic, then it failed on both counts. The facial expression on the girl conveys sheer boredom.
It's really dodgy just like the Scorpions Virgin Killer mentioned so much in the comments. I run a second hand book and record shop and I can't display them. They got away with it in the 60's, 70's and 80's because people really didn't fathom the issue. It seems insane today.
@@Daniel-415-Ponce Her expression is like "Why the hell did I agree to do this? And they want me to hold this silver toy airplane for no apparent reason? Let's get this crap over with so I can put my shirt back on and go home!"
This line-up has real chemistry... entertaining stuff. Suggestions for topics:
* albums by normally great bands with terrible production/sound quality (I'm thinking of one in particular)
* concerts where the opening act smoked the headliner
* albums which flipped over time (from love to hate, or hate to love)
So Far, So Good, So What is an awesome album cover, a great mixture of 80's cold war dystopia and the junkie status of Megadeth at the time. I think if they would have had a painting, it wouldn't have been so effective.
Agreed, and I don't even like them.
1. Def Leppard - High and Dry
2. Riot - Fire Down Under
3. Sabbath - Paranoid
4. Led Zeppelin - 3
5. Accept - Balls to the Wall.
LOL balls to the wall is an AWFUL cover!
Zeppelin 3 is an amazing cover!
Would make great wallpaper!!!
However, its Led Zeppelin 3,so who care's about the cover, the music is awesome( I love acoustic Zeppelin!)
I think the one exception regarding what was said about don't have a picture of the band on the cover is the very 1st Montrose album. That album is a great hard rock album in spite of the fact that there's a picture of all the guys in the band and none of them are wearing shirts!
I've always thought of "Dressed to Kill" as being ironic, so it never bothered me.
We need top 10 album arts on every main genre of metal...
Sodom for the win: Alfred Hitchcock meets Rosemary's Baby with the star of "The Screaming Skull" obviously fallen on hard times.
I am a huge fan of Yes’ Big Generator. Love the album to bits. Hate the cover. They missed an opportunity to do some sort of metallic/machine variant of the landscapes from Roger Dean.
Scorpions - Virgin Killer... enough said. Sick. What were they thinking?
It's not unlike the art in a Catholic cathedral
@@hmpz36911 Except the cathedral art isn't sexualized and from a completely different time period. The Scorps knew what they were doing. Leave it to Germans 🙄
My understanding is that the band had nothing to do with that. The promotion dept. at the label did it and the photographer had the idea. In fact that was his 10 year old daughter posing for the pic. Most of the band weren't happy when they saw it.
Yes - Going for the One
Edgar Winter - They Only Come Out at Night
GFTO is a really good cover.
"The Object" actually appeared on Pawn Stars.
Full Rigor yep it did and I believe Rick is still looking for it........lol
Did he have to call a buddy on that one?
This is one of my favourite things to watch Pete, gets me involved with interesting topics like these on music. How about a suggestion with the guys on underrated favourite albums in your collections?
Awesome video!!! I would definitely love to see a part 2!!!
Ryan Slow...Awesome "T" shirt. One of my favourite album....Swords and Tequila, get in...
Gentle Giant - three friends
ZZ Top - Tres Hombres
Scorpions - Fly to the Rainbow
Fly to the rainbow is actually mesmerizing AF :P
Three Friends had 2 different covers, one was very good.
This is a fun topic, would want to see more for sure and I think there is enough bad album covers to go around. Got the new SoT sticker for my record player lid, looks great!
Yes please guys part two is definitely wanted!!! Excellent stuff.
Scorpions "Fly to the Rainbow ". Eek. 'Nuff said.
Dream Theater - When Dream and Day Unite
Definitely need a part 2! Its great to see some more obscure metal represented with these guests too. That Morbid Saint album RULES
I totally agree about the awfulness of Paranoid by Black Sabbath. Amazing that it's by Marcus Keef, the same guy who did the fantastic cover design for Sabbath's debut album. Talk about going from the sublime to the ridiculous in a few months!
Yes, the one guy is pimping Riot. They are one of my favorites. Would you ever do a Ranking the Studio Albums on them? Also would you do Quiet Riot? There name sounds similar so that’s why i thought of it.
Side note: the seal was there school mascot if i remember correctly. Somewhere in the Bronx i think.
Pete has said he's not a big QR fan and is only familiar with one (two?) of their albums.
Finally, someone else acknowledges how bad the season in the abyss cover is, it’s my favourite slayer album (all around very good album that’s super consistent). That giant skull looks fucking awful
This was one of your best videos yet, Pete. So good! I'll never unsee that Sodom cover. Idea for your next RANT: great albums that were ruined by terrible production quality.
Great show and topic..
Great panel always entertained by you guys👍🏻
Such an entertaining video! I remember buying the Manowar Anthology compilation CD back in the 90s and it's even worse than Into Glory Ride - an oiled Joey DeMaio in a leather thong is a particular highlight. When I paid for it at the counter, the girl just started laughing and I was just like "Yeah well... the music's good!" which I don't think convinced her.
🤣
Terrible albums with great cover art next
Diabolus in Musica
That was fun to watch! Lots of possibilities for future shows.
Whitesnake - Ready an’ Willing
Venom - Possessed
Dust - Dust
Black Sabbath - Eternal Idol
Black Sabbath - Forbidden
Black Sabbath - Dehumanizer
Cannibal Corpse - Butchered at Birth
Scorpions - Virgin Killer
UFO - pretty much every album
Metallica - Kill ‘ em All
Deep Purple - Bananas
More like Cannibal Corpse -- Their entire discography.
Black Sabbath - Sabotage
Iron Maiden - The Book of Souls - The illustration with Eddie holding a heart would have been better.
Alice Cooper - From the Inside.
Scorpions - The original Virgin Killers cover...holy shit is that disturbing.
definitely Sabotage...Bill Ward in red tights is not a pretty picture...
Black Sabbath should have hired whoever did the album covers for Uriah Heep
Sabotage cover is TERRIBLE.
What? From The Inside is probably my favourite album cover. The way the inner sleeve works with the gatefold inners (to find Alice in the quiet room) and the doors at the back with them leaving holding escape papers is utter genius! Amazing album with clever artwork. I agree with Sabotage and Virgin Killer as bloody awful!
Sabotage! Definitely.
I actually think that UFO 2 flying had such a weird ass cover, it always creeped me out, but the album is amazing not going to lie, but the Cover is weird.
27:00 According to Wikipedia, the band thought it was a test-shoot for the cover, and weren't ready, but the designers steam-rolled them. Also, Wikipedia mentions a sense of irony that "the cover intended to illustrate sabotage [by band's management] was a victim of sabotage itself".
Amazing topic - so much fun digging through my shelves thinking about this. My favourite awful album covers on great albums?
Max Webster - s/t
Mahogany Rush - Strange Universe
Saxon - s/t
So many more, especially with terrible photography, weird artistic choices etc..., but these are all heinous. I love these albums though.
The cover of "Strange universe" is supposed to be a depiction of the bad acid trip that sent Frank Marino over the edge when he was 14. The one before it, "Child of the novelty" {by the same artist, the late Ivan Schwartz} is similar both in theme and content.
im loving these rants keep it up good entertainment
I’m fairly sure the _Seasons in the Abyss_ album cover is meant to resemble, stylistically, the crude, deranged artwork of a maniac (inspired, perhaps, by the off-putting and disturbingly childlike paintings of John Wayne Gacy, Ottis Toole, and other notorious killers), and that its amateurish appearance is thus quite intentional. (In fact, as soon as Slayer was mentioned, I thought for sure that their debut, _Show No Mercy,_ would be the one selected. Yes, I realise its cover was simply painted by the dad of one of the band’s roadies, but that thing is just awful, and, unlike _Seasons,_ is not intentionally so.)
never realized that, there’s a video called art of the mentally ill or something to that degree, all of the points you mentioned were talked about in that video and it actually makes you realize it’s a great album cover.
I'd pick
The Moody Blues- Days of Future Past
Helloween- Chameleon
Pink Floyd- Meddle
Yes- Talk
Alice Cooper- Zipper Catches Skin
100% for Meddle
@@mrlalalaelmo7454 What the hell is that supposed to be anyway?
@@gemini2012100 It's a closeup of an ear.
The Moonspell t-shirt with the vintage logo is awesome.
Anyone here ever seen the album artwork for Quiet Riot II? The front and back of the album are very questionable.
That's the problem, few people have seen or heard those QR albums with Randy. I don't know why they haven't been re-released...
The Scorpions Virgin Killer; the original cover. What were they thinking? Ditto Led Zeppelin Houses of The Holy. Saxon Innovence is no excuse goes with those two as well.
Great segment made me laugh looking forward to another one!part 2 👍🏼
I love Balls To The Wall's Anton Corbin-esque cover. It's bold, kinky, homoerotic and fits the album's upmarket production and sexually ambiguous lyrical themes perfectly. They were a unique band and I'm glad they didn't settle for a corny 'scary monster' mascot or something.
It fits the lyrics, it’s not commercial and it shouts if you find it gay we don’t give a shit!
@@blender1188 word!
Scorpions - Fly to the rainbow.
Lodger by David Bowie. Though not my favorite from the Berlin trilogy, it's a pretty cool album, but the album cover is awful. Could have been *much* better.
OK - One more (though this may not appeal to many here): Storm At Sunup by Gino Vannelli. The cover alone will scare most off; it is *truly* corny as fuck, but I swear it's an amazing album, especially if you like atmospheric jazz-fusion-type things.
This is lots of fun! You guys are cracking me up!!!
... And yes, a second part would be cool.
DeTeaOneNineFive
Much as I love Bowie, I don't rate his album covers. For an art student, his album covers were surprisingly bland. Recognizable, yes, but not one that I'd regard as a work of art ~ except "Images 66-67" which is a great cover.
Good fun that. Thanks Pete and the guys. Great rock bands with the most dodgy album covers: Black Sabbath; Rolling Stones; AC/DC; Thin Lizzy; Dire Straits; Free; Bad Company; Budgie; all come to mind. Great rock bands/artists with the most classic album covers: The Doors; Joe Walsh; The Band; The Allman Brothers; Joni Mitchell; The Marshall Tucker Band; Caravan; are a few I can think of...
Great idea for a video Pete, hopefully we'll see a part two.
The winner is: Metal Church - Hanging In The Balance
I LOVE Mike Howe era Metal Church, yet I still have hardly listened to that album. The cover is that bad. Another bad one is Fates Warning's A Night On Brocken. Talk about Renaissance fair, lol...
Thundersteel is awesome.
@SabuPtolemy I'm referring to the original, lol.
Just googled it. Bloody hell! Thanks for the laugh!
@SabuPtolemy I think ThunderSteel has a cool cover, 'Fire Down Under' is a different story, tho 😎
Sodom definitely wins. Even over the Dollar Tree Eddy.
Nick, if you happen to see this, i met Fernando Ribeiro at a Moonspell show a few years ago. I brought my Wolfheart cd to sign. He was just walking around the venue before the show by himself. I walked up and said hi Fernando, would you mind signing my CD? He said of course. I handed it to him and he took a look and said, first pressing. He couldnt have been cooler.
I have interviewed him, and hung out with him at shows for years and yes, he is a super approachable, very nice individual. Awesome that he signed your CD!
Right on, man. It was a great night. Septicflesh opened for them. Not a huge fan, but i like them well enough.
UFO and Scorpions each had a bunch of great albums with terrible covers. UFO: Phenomenon (with the cheesy spaceship), Lights Out (we need to see Schenker undress from overalls?), Obsession (is Schenker in a threesome with S&M robots?), Strangers In The Night (looks like a bad disco themed movie poster). And of course Scorpions: Virgin Killer (why would we want to see pubescent girls naked?), which was then replaced by “hey guys, put your fists in the air and look really fierce”) ,Lovedrive (that goddamn bubblegum), Animal Magnetism (thank you for showing us the guy with the tight pants instead of the girl, who incidentally is about to “smell the glove”), and Fly the Rainbow (was this designed by an eight year old who likes sci-fi?).
You just mentioned the best album covers of all time! All done by Hipgnosis who also did all the Pink Floyd covers. It just doesnt get any better then that=Pure art.
Bob Olsen - In my opinion, Hipgnosis gained celebrity with Pink Floyd and because of that were then commissioned sight unseen.
This was THE era for great album art. Do you really feel that the combination of rudimentary and shock value in the covers I mention above are in the sane league? And I love those albums, especially UFO.
Take another look at this and tell me you love it: www.google.com/search?q=scorpions+animal+magnetism&client=safari&hl=en-us&prmd=ivn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjck7OE0crrAhUFheAKHVCNCRwQ_AUoAXoECB0QAQ&biw=414&bih=710&dpr=2#imgrc=t41miqnz5F-dqM

Lol. Chris is AWESOME. 1976 PRESENCE. It’s known as “ THE OBJECT “.
Gary Joyce
I was watching an old episode of Pawn Stars today, and Rick was looking for the “Object”. Apparently the record company made 1,000 of them to distribute to company people, or something like that.

"Balls to the wall" from Accept is an 80's version of the cover from Wishbone Ash's "There's the rub" from 1974.
They're both terrible! But the albums are great!
In the case of Alice Cooper's "Dada", both the cover and the music are terrible.
balls to wall cover is gay !!!
Personally I like DaDa. Cover should have been creepier to match the album.
Great vídeo as always, you guys rocks!
I would add The Rolling Stones Goats Head Soap from 1973 and Deep Purple Perfect Strangers 1984, the DP album not because it's ugly but it is so simple, camon that was they comeback, they should have done better. Those are my two favorite bands and two of my favorite albums by then, but just not good!
Sorry for my poor english, I'm a huge fan from Brazil!
REO Speedwagon- You Can’t Tune a Piano, But You Can’t Tuna Fish Iron Maiden- Dance of Death (also looks slightly similar to Gene Simmons 2004 solo album, ‘Asshole’) Led Zeppelin- Prescence KISS- Music From the Elder Jethro Tull- War Child
Deep Purple - Come Taste the Band. Iron Maiden - The X Factor.
Every early Scorpion albums 😂
The later ones too.
One of my favorite albums is Elton John's vastly underrated "Empty Sky" which was released only in the UK in 1969. The original cover had a skilled ink rendering of Elton John as he looked in 1969. When the album was reissued for American audiences in 1975 the cover was changed to a simplistic drawing of a large stone with a face set into it. It looked liked they were attempting to come up with a new cover as fast as possible.
Bring on part 2! That was hilarious!
A couple of Scorpions covers take the prize for me. The Virgin Killers original and re-issue both are horrible. Deep Purple Bananas, definitely another one. But for some reason, and I think someone mentioned it in the comments, Genesis Invisible Touch. Always loved the album, but that cover... And maybe the top prize for me was always Pink Floyd's The Division Bell. The shape of those things and their size and how it has like 50 different versions of them. Something about the shapes of those heads throws it all off for me.
I like The Division Bell cover (& the album). I have a T-shirt of it.
Given that Pete will walk around wearing a Lovehunter shirt, I'm not sure he'd have much problem with the Scorpions covers.
Totally agree JT. I almost mentioned The Scorpions in my comment. The casual sexism which was shit at the time has only got worse with the passage of time. Blackout and Tokyo Tapes are about the only exceptions. All the rest are terrible.
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does anyone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account?
I somehow forgot the account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me
@Bentlee Issac instablaster =)
I love the album to death but Balls To The Wall gawd awful.
Loving the RANT shows!
So much fun!! Great episode guys, that's the kind of subject to laugh about talking for hours while drinking beer. Maybe that's what the bands did, as I mentioned on a previous rant: cover art like a bad drunken tattoo. Or they were so exhausted recording a brilliant album that they gave the job to some guy, who had ONE job and fucked it up hahaha. Part 2 is mandatory.
