      As a new spearfisher I've passed up a lot of shots because I wasn't 100% sure what the fish was, so identifying the fish while underwater is really helpful. The color in particular changes a lot underwater.

    We do the same in Louisiana. It’s a travesty how many rigs they have removed. Should be the law that they stay legally lit and sounded until they crumble. The amount of life living on and around the rigs is hard to comprehend for those that haven’t experienced it.

    Really like your videos. What was the water temperature? Also, what mil suit were you using or is this a rash guard? I grew up diving rigs off of Sabine Pass/Cameron in the Gulf. Getting back into it. Lots of rigs I used to dive are gone but there are still plenty of them, usually just have to go farther but that equals better visibility.

    It is amazing how they do so much work to preserve natural reefs but then they can just rip out manmade reefs without second thought.
    Those rigs hold just as much life as a natural reef. I mean just cut em down to the point where boats can see em… why destroy em and essentially kill all the fish?

      @KeysVibess 5 місяців тому

      @@Womenlovefishpics Yes i'm looking at carbon. I've been doing some research and they say a problem with soft is trying to pull a big fish up and current also...

    • @Womenlovefishpics
      @Womenlovefishpics 5 місяців тому +1

      @robbs2875 firstly, id do carbon composite. If you are spearing, they won't get destroyed as easy. Just for reference, I have massive legs and calves, I'm 6.1. I bought mediums and if I am paddling from one area to another or for extended periods of time it can get very taxing. Pretty much everyone else I'm my group uses softs. If you want the extra power and exclusely boat dive, maybe consider it or are OK with knowing initially when you start using them you'll have a what the fuck these are stiff moment. Other than that, I'd go soft. I think it's also easier to gauge if they aren't the right flex also, your next pair you can go up a level if you really don't like them. What area and kind of spearing are you doing?

    • @KeysVibess
      @KeysVibess 5 місяців тому +1

      @BradenSherron  5 місяців тому +2

    • @Womenlovefishpics
      @Womenlovefishpics 5 місяців тому +1

      @Kumukarl of course! 120 was my first gun that wasnt cheap af. It feels big if you are coming from a 100 or something but once you get used to it, it's not so big that it's an issue. I used a 120 for like 2 years and have a 105 also. The 120 I now use for Bluewater and the 105 is more reef stuff. Though, again, I hunted reefs with the 120 just fine. Just keep it half half cocked on the shaft if shooting near rocks because a 120 roller fucking punches 😂 lots tons of spears to the rocks when I didn't half load it. Also, Rob Allen's are super common, id consider finding one used. Just change the bands, you'll save like 300ish bucks

    • @Kumukarl
      @Kumukarl 5 місяців тому

      @@Womenlovefishpics good to know. It’s tough man, I mostly dive reef and shoot fish under 10lbs so the 110 with 14mm bands and a 7mm shaft is tempting. I figure the 120 would be the best all rounder from smaller reef fish to blue water. But I would be limited and would just need to be more selective with shots. I’m all about saving money but want to get this new. I’ve been looking at ordering one from Coatsmanspearfishing. With the conversion prices are the lowest I’ve found for carbon guns.

    • @Womenlovefishpics
      @Womenlovefishpics 5 місяців тому +1

      @Kumukarl or you build your own. Honestly, the whole new, old thing you realize doesn't matter much as long as it's a good gun and it's taken care of. New is a plus. But settling on lower quality components will just be a regret and larger expense later. Trust me. I've spend tens of thousands of this hobby and the one thing I've found you can't cheap out on is a gun. The trigger mechanism is extremely important. If you are building or buying a roller, ceramic bearings, a good reel. Those 3 things will make or break a gun, it's function and it's maintenaBTW? Ceramic rollers have no maintenance other than rinsing with water. The other kinds of them are not the same. If you want to save money and actually make sure you get good parts, id be happy to hook you up with a gun builder. He can make it however you want with whatever kind of parts that you want. You'd get a top quality gun for much cheaper, just respond here and we'll find a way to connect. The other is obviously just buying a complete and hoping it's mech holds up. Idk something to consider. Pretty much everyone I know ended up eventually stopping buying completes and just went that route because the value for the money is way better. Rob allen isn't known for great trigger mech, plastic if I remember correctly, their guns are hard to retrofit and modify with any other part than rob allen. Meandros and ermes sub and really the only two brands I'd look at for triggers mechs. Euro companies make the best guns generally speaking. Aimrite out of Australia is good too. Anyway. Hopefully that helps and if you want me to connect you with the guy who builds for all my friends and I, lmk. But all and all, a 120 roller works fine as a jack of all trades. You shouldn't have issues on the reef at all...well other than stuck shafts 😂
      What area are you in btw?
