Absolutely loved that video lads . I learned a lot in just that 1 video. Really great stuff . Wish you luck with the channel . Keep up the great work 😁👍 from Ireland 🇮🇪 👍👍
Owing to the sun, I think I know the exact day this was! Where the hell has this years summer gone? 🤔 Grandson is coming down for a week soon, can't wait to get him out for a session on the wrasse and LRF. He's also super excited to go for a rock pool bait forage.
Yeah it’s been a bad one for weather for sure, very strange year. Epic stuff, hope you can get out there in some good weather and find some fish (and bait) tight lines 🎣
Wonderful video! Really loved all the discussions about the various critters you came across while looking for bait, etc. Spent a lot of time exploring such areas when I was a kid, and I still enjoy doing so whenever I get the opportunity! 😃
We like to return them all if possible as they are a slow growing species and important for the health of the reefs and rough ground. We have been told that the bigger fish can provide enough flesh for a good meal but the bigger wrasse are old fish and it's nice to see them go back (for us to catch and release another day!).
I’m this video we are using a mix of Penn Clash and Slammer fixed spools along with Penn Conflict XR spin rods rated up to 50g … nice fun sporting kit for wrasse, however you can have just as much fun on inexpensive gear also! … thanks for the sub 🙌🏼
That’s a tough one, we do a fair bit of lure fishing for them and it’s probably as exciting when they’re feeding hard, especially if you catch them at max length of your cast and have to bully them through all the reef between you and them. But crab seems to catch the better fish more reliably.
We like to keep it fun and fish fairly light for the Wrasse. In the past we would use 2-4oz bass rods or spod rods with a 5lb test curve to bully the fish from snags, but these days we like to go light and have more sport. These are hard fighting fish and will put a mega bend in a lure rod! I was using a Penn Conflict Inshore XR rated to 50g, paired up with the Slammer IV 3500 reel loaded up with Spiderwire Stealth Smooth 8 braid 36lb. Any lure rod with an upper rating of 30-50g paired with a small fixed spool will do just fine though and provide plenty of sport, and works well for close range fishing off rocks and piers. Hope this helps!
Great video guys 👌🏻

My favourite fish to catch, and exactly the way I liked to fish for them. Cheers boys and tight lines.
Nothing better than the short intense fight of a big Ballan trying to take you back to his hole 🔥
Nice video!
Great vid! I’m yet to catch a bass and a proper wrasse! This has give me some inspiration to do it! 👊👊
Cheers dudes! Give us a shout if you're down our way and we can get on some fish again!

Yeah they are up there with our favourite fish to target for sure 🎣
@@wildseasfishing loads of smaller ones here in torbay....I've had em to 2lb but it's too shallow here...
Great video guys, keep them coming 👏🎣
Cheers Steve, glad you enjoyed it 🎣
hey mate nice video. in my area it is said that the ole strawberry anemone were once a unrivalled bait for cliff fishing for cod
No way! That’s interesting, spose they make an easy meal for a cod and they grow to be a decent size too

Another great video guys keep it up! Almost at that 1k subs.
Cheers mate, getting there slowly!
Plenty good fishing, those wrass are beautiful looking fish.
Do you ever keep any for eating?

@@wildseasfishing thank you. If only everyone treated the ocean the same way👍
Hi just subbed to you some excellent footage well done
Thanks for the sub! Plenty more videos are on the way!
What rods and reels are you guys using? Just subbed. 👍🏻

Awesome video! Do you guys prefer using bait to go after wrasse or lures? 🤟🏽

What rod/reel/line you using for that type of fishing?
