Not to be critical but you need a heat source capable of keeping your greenhouse at least above freezing during the cold seasons 24/7 in order to start your seedlings and have them ready, healthy and conditioned to plant in your late growing season there. A proper greenhouse is the key to getting a jump on your late growing season. You used mulch to smother the weeds and growth on your garden paths but fail to realize it doing the same to your tender plants you`re trying to promote growth by smothering them ...jus sayin is all.

Except for the plants we put in. I read your comment again and caught that point this time. Without mulch our plants dry out in a few hours. Its insane how fast the soil here dries in the sun. We cover the soil to hold in moisture in the grow beds. Not to smother weeds. Walk ways are a different story.

@@TheDoItYourselfWorld i understand it may keep the moisture but believe it or not since they also need oxygen the plants would do better without the mulch and just water more often. We have sandy loam soil here as well and need to water twice or more often than a richer soil. I understand you may have water issues and we have water barrels set up to offset well use. Stagnet standing water is actually better for watering your garden and a few drops of vegetable oil keeps mosquito larvae outa your water barrels.

I’d use an electric 3 or 6volt dc water pump from a cheap water pistol / squirt gun that kids play with. Make a plastic tube manifold and run tubes to each pot or make a drip /spray type system.. Put the pump with transformer on a web enabled outlet or on a Xmas light timer. You could repurpose a toilet tank as a resevour to feed the system. Cool setup though

For the greenhouse I plan to have a solar water pump lift water to a tank and let gravity feed do the work through this timer as needed. The timer is great tho for controlling exact water flow.
This will eliminate any emergencies from a blown garden hose on our house yet still give me automatic watering for the greenhouse.

It's too bad you are stuck in the cold north. My wife and I moved further south last year. We are homesteading but not putting videos or information out to the public. The nice thing is that we have mild winters and a longer growing season than what the northern states offer.

Sometimes I think about moving. But we put so much into this place already.
