My 2001 ML430 has been doing this for the last year. I've tried the brake light switch (twice), the ABS sensor for that same wheel and was about to bleed the brakes as a last attempt but I believe you've provided the correct answer. Thank you brother. It is a wonderful SUV especially considering it's over 20 years old. Benz man for life.
It’s a $900.00 USD , sensor. The whole system is a work of art. Unfortunately most “works of art” , have their imperfections… I found my replacement in a salvage yard. Very fortunate that it is still working great. The original Yaw Sensor went bad while I was driving at a speed of 80 miles per hour. I am very lucky to be alive. It is a scary thought that thing going bad at any moment. Nice video, thanks .
Thanks for this video ! I'm about to do this to our 2002 ML500. As a 'workaround' to prevent sudden 1 wheel braking you can go in Underhood fuse / relay box & pull out the 'K25' ABS relay - this disables the ABS / ETS / BAS system. You'll likely have all 3 lights lit on the left dash but at least 1 wheel won't suddenly brake which could be dangerous ! My symptoms were the sudden 1 wheel braking (feels like a flat tire) I scanned & pulled a C1142 code - Yaw Sensor Bad. I got one from a wrecking yard am hoping its good. If not I may look up that refurb one from the UK.
I had this same problem. Scary when wheels start locking. Cost me $1200 plus at the dealer. That was several years ago. Watching these YT videos so, hopefully, I won’t be taken to the cleaners again. BTW, 2001 ML. Bought it new and have liked it very much.
Thanks very much for sharing this information I recently had the issue followed your advice and everything is fixed now. I did use a scan tool it showed the yaw rate sensor was bad.
Thanks so much your video was very useful for me. I will attempt this after locating the compatible part. I have a 2002 ML500 with 324,000 miles/ original engine and transmission. It still looks and runs great.Your clicking sound could be the EVAP Purge Valve. I let my tech do that job. Was about $150. I think that part was about $90
You have to disconnected the battery first before you replace parts or any workings. Also you have to check battery condition akemWgnwbee85AGH7 sure the fully charged battery. Most sensor faulty code or any dtc code appears when battery is bad.

Just had this happen tonight...I'd like to replace the YAW sensor...What is the tool you use to unscrew/screw in the bolts? It is so long?
What's that Tapping Sound , when you're driving .
Who did you buy that part from, I need to get one please..
Amazing video! Can I ask - do you not need to plug the diagnostic/Star machine to calibriate the new sensor?
There is a 'Yaw Sensor Re-learn Pricedure' try searching for those terms.
Can't recall if it requires ECU reprogram. No Dealer visit just a few steps.
Who did you purchase it from..I need one...
