Thankyou so much for this, my 8 year old had the ados3 assessment a week ago, and I have to go and answer questions about his development this week, but in the meantime I've been searching online for what the assessors may have been looking for, as he needs a huge amount of support and I think he is 100% autistic, but i worry that for some reason they will say he isn't, and I'll feel insane and won't be able to get him more support and feel so misunderstood. 😢 this video really helped, so thankyou!!
Echolalia is pretty common in autism and they will repeat words or phrases that they have heard. That could include repeating a word at the end of ur sentence, singing or a script from a movie or play. Thanks for sharing. Found this interesting. I should post my sons results. He got his diagnosis in november.
Hi. My son is 5 and very similar to how you describe your daughter. He is also EXTREMELY hyper and unfocused. The only reason my son is already diagnosed is because we saw a pediatric neurologist for his headaches when he was 3 1/2. This neurologist is top in her field and very well intune to hypermobility (EDS) and autism as they are very much connected and often comorbities. She recognized both in my son within an hour or so of talking to him and observing him. It was such a blessing to have someone see what I had been asking the pediatrician about for years and to validate that he wasn’t just naughty or hyper or giftedly brilliant or all the other things his pediatrician tried to say. According to the psychologist who did my sons proper testing, this kind of autism was formerly known as Aspergers but it now all just labeled as autism spectrum disorder.
Yes my brother was diagnosed with Aspergers before they changed the term. Thank you for sharing your personal journey with me. I’m so glad you’ve got the support because it can be so hard to fight for your kiddies.
Just found your videos as we're currently going privately to get our son assessed as we had no luck through the NHS! You could have been talking about my son and it's been really reassuring watching your videos with his assesment coming up! So glad you finally got Freyas diagnosis after years of fighting xx
I've just found your videos on you tube there great.ive just found out I've got asd at 44 years old it's relief to know why I act the way I do.hope Freya gets all the help she needs.
Currently trying to get somewhere with my 9 year old son just feel like where being pushed from pillar to post at the moment but he’s very similar to your daughter from what you’ve been describing x
Hello i hope you dont mind me chiming in. My son was diagnosed at 3 with mild hfa. It all Depends on where you live but the first place i would start with is her pediatrician they should refer your daughter to a place where she can be evaluated. I hope this helps!!!!
