Been saying to myself for quite awhile, that I need a small bag to carry the cell phone around the house. It's not like the old days where we had an extension land line phone in almost every room in the house and hear the phone ring echoing throughout the house. Perfect solution. Thanks Diane!
Oh my goodness… that finished edge inside is what I’ve been looking for! Thank you! Making one of these for vending in a couple days… it’s going to hold my phone and money to make change… great project! Thank you!
i dont mean to be off topic but does someone know a method to log back into an instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my password. I appreciate any help you can give me!
@Memphis Graham I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Perfect little bum bag to make just for running, going to the park, and the gym. I love how you applied 2nd lining piece to avoid RAW edges in the inside of the bag👍🏽! Thanks for sharing🥰.
Just found your tutorial, it is just what I was looking for, I will start with one and who knows how many I will make. Thanks so much perfect for my son who is a dog walker.🙂
I love Ms Ogg's tutorial videos. Super clear, easy to follow and her relaxed energy and way of communicating makes it a pleasure to listen to her explanations. Thanks 😊👍
I'm not a confident sewer and I do appreciate the tips you've given. I want a bumbag for our nature walks and camping trip. So was happy to find your video.
Great!! I can't wait to see all the ones that will be created near and far!!! I'm dreaming of a world without COVID so we can travel to England and have a workshop with Diane! Would you do that Diane?? I'd be happy to pay for a workshop, that would be so fun and a good excuse to tour England!! Thank you so much!!!!
@@cynforrest Cyn, what kind of kitty cat is in your profile picture? Beautiful! I had a lovely ragdoll cat, miss my big boy! See you at Diane's workshop!! Wouldn't that be fun??? Something to dream about at least!😊
Made it and I'm a beginner! First zipper ever, too. And, I unboxed my first Janome and this is the project I did, on a new machine, having no idea how to operate it being I went from a mechanical to a computerized one. I had a little issue with the fabric not being totally together where the upper small portion of fabric (above the zipper) and the outer back wall weren't totally sewn together. Given, I don't know much about what I'm doing and discovered it when I thought it was totally done, I flipped the piece of fabric above the zipper over and gave the inside lining a few extra lines of stitches and it resolved the problem. I hope the recipient doesn't flip that over or else they will notice my mistake. Otherwise, my four daughters have already asked for their own. Thank you!
I have just made one of these and I LOVE IT. Your instructions are so very easy to follow. I had never basted a zip in before, but I thought I would give it a go - and it really does make sewing the zip in MUCH easier - so thanks very much for that tip. I know what you mean about calling it a fanny pack 😂😂. I’m a Brit but have lived in Canada for many years so I’m used to calling it a fanny pack, but it still makes me smile. Anyway Diane - thanks again for the great tutorial and pattern.
I love the tea break!!! What a fabulous idea and so civilized. Thanks for the free pattern and can't wait to make it. Got the Covid vaccine and had a bad reaction, so just enjoying UA-cam right now and making plans for more sewing. And having a cup of tea....herbal for the stomach!
I do travel sketching and this is the perfect bag for carrying all of the essentials! Love to see that there's a place for cells as well. Can be put in a bag, worn over the shoulder, packed in luggage, kept in the glove box ... perfect bag. Thanks for sharing!!!
OMG!!! I follow this video from start to finish and I was 100% successful. This is excellent. Best tutorial and very addictive. I install a zipper without any hiccups. Definitely you gain a follower cant wait to try something else.
OMG! Such perfect timing! My leather one that had 2 zips and a velcro pouch just broke where the strap connected to the bag.😖 I'm lost without it...Thanks SO MUCH for this!💖💯🎯🎉😀
Very excited. I've got a big family trip planned for next year to Disney. 🏰🎉🎆and am planning to make all the girls each one with a crossbody strap to thread through. Even one for my nephew (if he'll take it. 😁) keeping my eyes out for the perfect disney fabric
Fun project! I’ll be making this! I see that you and I are sewing on the exact same machine. I would LOVE tips on bag-making with this machine. Mine does not like thick fabrics. It greatly struggles on the thick parts even when i use a hump-jumper. Tips please!!
Gosh I love mine, I find it one of the best domestic machines going. Use the Accufeed foot all the time where you can and try a microtex needle if you are using vinyl. I reviewed the machine here: www.spencerogg.com/sewing-machine-review-janome-atelier/
Love this. Think I am going to put little lobster clasps on the sides so I can wear it on my belt loops when we take trips on our trike. Will be be great in vinyl or waterproof canvas. Thank you so much.
Perfect timing! I was looking for an easy quick make and I need to replace my 30 year old bum bag. Couldn't seem to find a suitable pattern but I've cut yours out now and it's all ready for sewing tomorrow :-). Just need to find the right belt...
This construction doesn't really lend itself to boxing corners, but I have a few others my website, please do take a look: www.spencerogg.com/product/clamshell-sling/
Great tutorial, thank you. I want to make this for a lady that uses a walker or cane when she’s walking. A regular purse is way to heavy and bulky for her.
I love your pattern and watching you make it was a delight! You made it look so easy and I loved how you are explain every detail! I cannot wait to make one myself. Thank you so so much for sharing it!!
Thanks for the time and talent you share with the patterns and videos. I am curious how you create the patterns we can download. Is it possible to share that information. Thanks in advance!!
I draw them up and then convert them to PDF, then upload the PDF to somewhere you can easily download it from such as my web, blog or FB group. Does that help?
A Tunnock caramel wafer for a wee snack 😁...youre needin a Teacake or a Caramel yummy log for a change. Anyhoo, great wee video and bummity bum bag lol.x
Good Morning from Kansas! I have made these for my daughter and grand daughter to keep their phones in...they love them but asked if I could make them with a gusset so they would hold their checkbooks as well....soooo I was wondering if you might show us how to add a small gusset to this bag? I have several more cut out for all the gals in my family lol...the fun never ends lol
Thank you so much for this tutorial - very clear and easy to follow. I've just completed my first effort and used a thin vinyl for the outside and cotton for the lining. I seem to be pretty hopeless at cutting out accurately and make some daft mistakes, but I'm really quite pleased with my effort. I did find getting the top corners to turn out neatly pretty impossible - are there any clever tricks for doing this when using vinyl especially?
Glad you liked it. Trim the seam allowance back as far as you can, the thicker the fabric, the more bulk will be in there. I bigger curve on the corner will also mean less bulk in one place
I made my first one from the pattern. It was a little too small for my phone , so. number 2,was bigger. I made 12x12 squares as my base size for the 4 blocks. I cut 2 fleece pads and rounded the edges and spray basted them to my external pieces When I sewed my pieces together I just used my pressure foot along fleece to give me the perfect shape to sew together Then I trimmed the edges That way it always fits perfectly Hope that makes sense. Love your videos.

Thank you for another great tutorial and pattern! Tip: fusible hem tape will work for closing up the lining if you really hate hand sewing.
Thats an even better idea !! thanks

Also depends if you are left or right handed 😄- you would normally want to 'pull' a zipper open rather than push it 😁😄

Could I use 4 pieces of fusible fleece for the interfacing?
It could become too bulky as its such a small item. You could use the lining un-interfaced though
