They spent so much time getting the backgrounds to look photorealistic that they forgot to make it look like a movie universe or even have random dinosaurs in the background. Like, the backgrounds are beautiful, but they look so empty without OTHER dinosaurs just walking around or doing something.

I honestly can't help but feel like this movie would be so so much better without any dialogue. Like this movie is absolutely gorgeous, but ALL of the dialogue falls flat. Imagine how creative and interesting this movie would be if there was no dialogue, everything was visual cues and musical cues.
The more I think about it the more it would actually make the movie greater. The only real dialogue I liked (for the most part) was the dinosaur's parents, and even then there was still something slightly off with the dad's dialogue I can't put my finger on.
I’m pretty sure the reason why pixar movies like Brave and the Good Dinosaur were less than stellar was because they had shakeups during production that swapped around writers and directors.
Ratatouille did swap directors during its production. I didn't know about The Good Dinosaur drama, but Brave's failure comes from Pixar replacing the female director with a male director. There are countless interviews where Mark Andrews says Merida's gender isn't relevant to the story...
That is the FUNNIEST version of one of them checking how long was left. Whenever they watch something terrible they just work so much harder to be funny and theyre just too good.
Seriously...? 🙄 I'm sick of Good Dinosaur haters, this film is a cinematic masterpiece. Not only did it kill my entire family, but me as well. I am in fact writing this from beyond the grave, where the ghost of the CRT TV that killed my father is threatening to come loose and kill me a second time.
This movie is basically the perfect example of hard it is to deal with a tragic loss of a family member... Because I did lost both of my Grandparents 😢 That explains the main reason as to why I think The Good Dinosaur is so much better than Inside Out 🥹 YEAH I SAID IT!!!!
I remember when I was watching this movie, a man came into my house with a lead pipe and beat my mom, dad, cat, dog, brother, sister, and goldfish, but when he was about to hit me he said, “this movie is worse than lead pipe.” I am still traumatized because he forced me to watch this movie.
I actually watched this movie while my dad was in the bathtub… We were both watching it on our CRT, which was mounted directly above the bathtub. It fell in and electrocuted my father in that moment. I survived miraculously, somehow 💔💔💔
This movie changed my life drastically. Me and my Dad were watching this movie for the first time in the bathroom while my dad was in the bathtub. We watched it on our CRT which was mounted directly above the bathtub, when suddenly it broke off and fell in, killing my father insantly. Miraculously, I survived. Now, every time I watch this movie, I am reminded of how Arlo not only killed his own father, but mine as well.
I feel like the only reason this film exists is to show off the visuals. The environments look gorgeous and have come a long way since Toy Story, but like video games, pretty looks don’t make up for everything else being mediocre. Some people have mentioned it already, but this film really could’ve benefited from having no dialogue.
I watched this movie with my now dead family. I was in so much mourning but this movie saved me. In fact, I watched it with my dead grandpa while he was in the casket. I even watched it with my dad while he was in the bath but sadly the TV fell in and now he's dead too. How dare you not like Pixar's The Good Dinosaur that came out November 25th, 2015 directed by Peter Sohn.
I can only imagine the chaotic in-fighting the various directors, writers, animators had through this film's timeline on keeping the realistic backgrounds along with the goofy cartoony dinosaur designs.
they look painful to watch this movie tried so hard to do physical slapstick comedic but that doesn't work if the silly character you're watching suffer is suffering way too realistically imagine watching wabbit season but the bullets actually hurt daffy that's this movie doing slapstick

I watched this movie with my now dead family. I remember it like it was yesterday, my family laughing and enjoying this masterpiece. But now that they're gone, this movie is the only thing I have left of them, after the zeplin accident.
Pixar wanted Henry (Arlo's father) to be their own version of Mufasa, but it fails in so many ways: 1. He dies only 20 minutes into the film, leaving no time to develop a proper relationship with his son. 2. Unlike Mufasa, Henry is such a jerk to his son. He constantly pressured Arlo and even took him out in the middle of the storm, resulting in his own death. If he had died as a result of Arlo's cowardice or fear, it would have had a far greater impact. 3. His death scene is extremely abrupt. There's no mourning or anything. There isn't even any music. It just instantly cuts to the aftermath. How are we supposed to feel sad? 4. Because they didn't have an emotional connection, Arlo's dream sequence late in the movie lacks the same sense of power or motivation as Mufasa's appearance in the sky, making it feel forced and unearned.
i feel like this movie isn’t that bad as people think, but at the same time i’m realizing what everyone is saying when they say the scenes don’t go together or it’s random, this would’ve been better as a series of shorts or a tv series

Idk about yall but the first time I watched The Good Dinosaur I literally cried because certain parts of the movie were so cool and beautiful and it was a little emotional but yeah it was pretty weird but it was only like that because 1. People never really gave it a chance and 2. The people who wrote it went a different way then other Pixar creators
I watched this movie with my dead grandpa during his open casket funeral. What happened was that we were also watching it while he was in the bath tub, we were watching it with the crtv which was mounted directly above the the tub and it fell in, but the tub was actually a river and we were watching it before we got in the river but we call the river a bath tub because it's just a bowl that holds water and we both jumped in, but I miraculously survived somehow. But because of that he never saw the end so that is why I watched it with my grandfather at his open casket funeral.
I find this funny because my dad asked while watching this movie "How many times does this kid have to hit his head on rocks before brain damage?"
