    There were a few simple things I had to do to install it, but really it was a breeze.
    We are hoping to use these tags to eventually work with the Cerbo GX relay module. But that's for the future. In this video you'll see how to update to the latest release candidate, how to switch on bluetooth sensors and how to update the names of your tags.
    We’e installed some Ruuvi Tag and the pro version. We wanted to use the rugged pro under the bus.
    I am not an expert on this, just showing the steps taken. That said if you've any tips or questions, please do ask. Likewise let us know if you've successfully installed your Ruuvi Tags.

      @@WanderbusAdventures Awesome! What tank heater did you go with? Do you have a video on it? I still need to look into it as eventually I'd like to heat our tanks too, all our plumbing will be under chassis too so I think we'll have to heat those pipes too... Not sure yet!

      We are trying some simple heating pads for the timebeing. ua-cam.com/video/C5vONiCNBsg/v-deo.html
      However we are yet to test this. We may revert to tank blankets if needed. Also looking into self regulating heater cable for the pipes. You can get it in 12v I think. Thankfully the underslung diesel heater also seems to heat that area of the floor a bit.

    Just a little update. 2.80 (and beyond) is now available without the need to check the ‘release candidate’ option. Which is super neat. You will still need to update though. Please give us a like if it has been of use - enjoy your Ruuvi Tags.

    • @WanderbusAdventures
      @WanderbusAdventures  2 роки тому

      Hey Aaron. At the time directly from Ruuvi. But can see now that they are available in the UK from other places.
      Yes they are now linked in with the cerbo relays. I’ve switched another relay to power tank heaters - although this is probably overkill.

    • @azza461
      @azza461 2 роки тому +1

      @@WanderbusAdventures Thanks for the feedback. I got my first Ruuvi today from within the UK. It works great. Have you got any info on how you wired the cerbo relay to control the tank heater relay? Maybe a schematic?

    • @WanderbusAdventures
      @WanderbusAdventures  2 роки тому

      That's great news Aaron. So for mine I wired relay 2 to the trigger wire on an external relay. In reality I could have probably just used the cerbo as a relay switch between the fuse box and the tank blanket. It depends on how many amps your heater is I guess. I can see if I can draw up or find a suitable schematic for you. Glad the Ruuvi is working for you though. We love ours.

    • @WanderbusAdventures
      @WanderbusAdventures  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Martin. I might pop a video together on this as I have had to make a slight adjustment. The tags work really well and have provided some interesting data.
      The most useful one is the on in the fridge for obvious reasons. I have found that the Cerbo Bluetooth is Shakey at higher temperatures and will disconnect; I’ve remedied this with an external Bluetooth dongle - and that it what Victron now state in their documents.
      I’d like to add some more tags around the bus. Specifically in the engine bay for hot days.

    Hi again buddy I got the lynx running thanks
    Now I’m looking into a heater pad turning on with the temps from the gx
    Is this possible with the relays I can’t find anything on it at all

    • @WanderbusAdventures
      @WanderbusAdventures  Рік тому +1

      That’s brilliant news. Yes that’s possible and I have mine running off it. In the relay menu you need to set it to temperature controlled. You can then adjust the settings to trigger as per your requirements.
      I’ve added Ruuvi tags to sense my temps. And have selected ‘outdoor’ temps to trigger mine. Here’s a video of when I initially installed them - ua-cam.com/video/20R1JVOxnCw/v-deo.html
      I’ve got mine set to come on at 4 degrees. The relays are good for up to 6amps DC - so more than enough. I decided to use the cerbo relay as a trigger for another higher amp relay in case I decide to run larger pads or lots of trace heating wire in the future.

    • @Elites-asthetic
      @Elites-asthetic Рік тому

      @@WanderbusAdventures wow brilliant work I was thinking of using a ssr because the heating pad is 2.5amp but it looks like it will be ok then
      I’m wanting to use relay 1 for the heater pad for temp control
      Then relay 2 for a extraction fan in the battery compartment for summer
      Last summer got really high temps .. so to extract the air out would be best
      I’m lucky tbh because my battery is under the floor in a box so I can place some hose and a vent to it 😊 should work ok
      I also have the Ruuvi tags but for indoor and outdoors at the moment! I didn’t know you can use them tho to control a fan or heater 😊

    Hi Mate, great vid. Did you get to use the sensors to operate the relays? I’m running v2.92-1 on a Venux GX and want to operate the on board relays but can’t find the manual for that version, any clues on where to find it?

    • @WanderbusAdventures
      @WanderbusAdventures  Рік тому +1

      Hey Richard. Yes, we have them working for temperature for our tank blankets. If you open VRM/pages on touch GX and hit settings - scroll down to relays - select relay one or two (either have the option for temp) and select temp it will add a section under that immediate page for temp control. You should be able to set the parameters in there.
      I’ve not done a video for temperature yet - but might soon as we are getting new tank blankets for our water tanks. I have recently used relay one to trigger my water tank waste though, that shows where the relay section is if the above doesn’t make sense. ua-cam.com/video/Rdk_6gN8Dyc/v-deo.html
      Let us know how you get on.

      @@WanderbusAdventures hi, I can’t seem to find any info on how to configure the temperature relays. My issue is that there are two temps - activation value and deactivation value. I want to start a pump at a certain temperature (say 25°c) and stop it if the temp falls below 20°c . Hopefully I can add a pic to show you. share.icloud.com/photos/0faOqHcGN-7Dk6MdMLWyYkYSA

    Thanks for the vid BUT:
    Doesn't work any more. I bought one and it won't connect.
    I wanted to connect to Victron GX-cerbo, but the RUUVI is bluetooth, and the bluetooth is deprecated on the Cerbo. On the Victron website it's explicit that bluetooth is only for initial set up.
    There's no blutooth menu item on the cerbo setup with the latest firmware.
    There's no bluetooth sensors menu item in the I/O menu
    From the victron website, Guy Stewart has posted:
    "The built in bluetooth functionality in the Cerbo GX is limited to the initial configuration of an external wifi network.
    Due to a limitation with the built-in bluetooth chip only operating at low temperatures, in order to see the built-in bluetooth connection the unit must be cold, such as when it first starts up. The built-in bluetooth availability can then disappear once the unit warms up (depending on ambient temperature and other loads on the Cerbo).
    This is obviously not ideal, but the work around is that this external wifi network configuration function is also available via the built in wifi hotspot (connection details to this built in wifi hotspot are shown on a sticker on the Cerbo GX, and more details available in the Cerbo GX manual."
    Will Ruuvi bring out a WiFi version?

    • @WanderbusAdventures
      @WanderbusAdventures  Рік тому

      This is correct but there is a workaround - one that doesn’t involve wifi. I am going to do another video. Essentially you can get around it using a £7 Bluetooth dongle.
      I’ve found it does work via native Bluetooth but when it warms up, it stops. I’ve not had this problem with a dongle. Have you tried it with a dongle?
