Looking for a star is about his mom and how she would leave as he slept to go dance and sell her body to make money to support him, he had a really tuff childhood and had to live with relative because his mom was irresponsible with him, and she didn’t pay him much attention so that’s why he acted out as a kid. Also the sing hits different when you listen to his voice and realize how young he was when he wrote this track so it was back before he made up with his mom.
