- Macbeth (2010): Shot on location in the mysterious underground labyrinth of Welbeck Abbey in Nottinghamshire, this is a contemporary presentation of Shakespeare’s intense, claustrophobic and bloody drama.
Recently honoured with a highly prestigious Peabody Award, the film is based on the Chichester Festival Theatre production of the play that enjoyed sell-out runs in the West End and on Broadway. Patrick Stewart won Best Actor and Rupert Goold Best Director in the Evening Standard Theatre Awards for the stage production and both Patrick Stewart and Kate Fleetwood were nominated for Tony Awards for their performance.
Director of the critically-acclaimed plays, ENRON and American Pyscho, Rupert Goold has been described as ‘the hottest, most exciting director around’, and Macbeth is his debut as a film director. When the film was screened by the BBC December in 2010, the critics were unanimous in their enthusiastic praise.

Patrick Stewart is a marvellous actor and MacBeth is a timeless tale of a man’s ultimate descent into darkness. Quite a powerful combination. 🌹
honestly, nobody, but nobody does Shakespeare quite like Sir Patrick Stewart. He could read sonnet after sonnet, perform solo plays and the like and he'd do each with such feeling, conviction and ease. What a treat!!!!! Thank You!!!!!!
Unquestionably one of the greatest living actors.
WOW. Shakespeare was never meant to be read it was meant to be seen like this. He was a PLAYWRITE. So reading it from a book in school it didnt mean anything but seeing people like Patrick do this it brings it to life and you can see what is being said eve though i dont actually understand some of it. It makes sense
I like the cut of your jib, Heidi
10000% he embodies what Shakespeare envisioned wholeheartedly in my opinion when he performs these. Its not pure reading, nor acting but actual embodiment of every word and feeling William meant to convey written or not. And its because he does that even the most difficult to understand lines make some sense.
It's even better because Sir Stewart knows what he's saying.
This man is a national treasure.
Brilliantly performed by a fantastic actor. 👍
Sir Patrick Stewart of the Royal Shakespeare Company, everyone!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Is this a dagger?
No that's a pocketknife.
Is THIS a dagger?
No that's a broadsword.
Is THIS a dagger??
No! That's half a tuna salad sandwich. Are you even trying?
"No this is Patrick!" 🤣
Now that's a dagger - Crocodile Dundee
That's not a knife this is a knife
@@lordofashes8262 that's not a knife, that's a spoon!
This production was overall middling, but Sir Patrick Stewart’s performance is absolutely incredible. Several of my all-time favourite deliveries of lines in Macbeth are his.
1:23 !!! ugh i love this quote

You mean Macbeth
@@Bubbsmaster Aahhhhh. Hot potato, off his drawers, pluck to make amends.
I love anything Patrick Stewart does. The man is so talented.
I cracked up when he touched the dagger with his middle finger and faced it toward the audience
So "Tarquin's ravishing strides," you understand, but you can't figure out "Darmok and Jilad at Tanagra" unless someone has to die?
He’s amazing…. And that voice…..
His voice is like honey and thunder.
When i see his face i remember that there are four lights
TREMENDOUS performance- if anyone ever questions the power of psychological/physical torture, it's that episode. I'm so glad the show made it clear the effects were LONG lasting.
THERE… ARE ..FOUR.. LIGHTS!!!! 💖💖💖
Oh gosh I have to perform this today I hope I can get it as well as this guy!
I remember watching this in class in Year 11 for English. Naturally, half the class found this scene funny
Number One , may I ask you a question ? Is this a dagger I see before me ?
IS THIS THE DAGGER?
I LOVE anything Sir Patrick Stewart does!!
PICARD forever!
...is this a dagger I see before me?
The handle towards my hand?
Come, let me clutch thee...
Argh! it was the work of an enemy [Stand]!
Upload the sleepwalking scene!!
This is an acting masterclass all in itself
Thank you so much for this, these words, written in ... ~1620? How beautiful our English language can be, just as lovely as french in the hands of such a master, sure there's branagh and sir Ian McKellen, etc but this is the most expressive I've seen for this, it's just spectacular, thank you sir you've brought so much joy to so many!
Riveting
probably one of the best Mcbeth Performances that could ever be done.
didnt need the corny "hummmmm" music in the background... dumb
Now in Klingon
The original was in Klingon
Excellent.

So is this channel done putting out full shows or what? Haven't seen a full show on here since Easter? And even that was a repeat of Jesus Christ Superstar
Probably.
Great 👍👍❤️❤️❤️👍👍
I would love to see Sir Patrick Stewart as King Lear . That would be amazing
This was the weirdest adaptation ever lol anyone else have to watch this in English class remember the part where he fires bullets and is like let me miss all these shots

Gave me goosebumps.
Is this in a holo deck?
“Dagger of the Mind”!
What year was this done?

@@brianaustin5467 or 2010. At least that's what the description says.
@@veganleigh4817 It was my undrstanding that it was made in 2009 but first shown in 2010, but these dates become blurred with time.
