This is honestly so true to life. It’s just so refreshing to see a movie without an overdramatized or cliche plot. Just a couple having the boring day to day issues, but showing the realistic love that keeps them together

They just bought this. They didn't produce it or do anything in the making of it.
@@kevinchristopher1443 Partially correct. Likely Story produced it, and A24 has the US rights, but A24 bought the US rights on November 2021, a month after the film was announced. FilmNation handled the international sales since the film's initial announcement.
Sony's Stage 6 Films bought the international distribution rights, and Roadshow bought the Australia and New Zealand rights, which were revealed on May 2022. This was also when the filming began, and the rest of the new cast was announced including Menzies.

@@Maxtraxv3 I mean every relationship is different but there are MANY loving, decades-long relationships that look like this. It's about two people sticking it out even when they might hate each others at times and screwing up and trying to make up for it. And sometimes caring what seems like WAY too much about something that seems small, like it appears her character is.
Obviously there are times when people clearly don't want to be together and their whole lives are a fight but they stay together anyway for many reasons, but this doesn't seem to be a case like that.
It's more like a look into how the things you do to try and be a good spouse can sometimes backfire on you, and the little things that happen to any two people who are together for a LONG time but still know deep down they love the other person and aren't going anywhere.
Of course this is a trailer, and the whole film could culminate in a divorce because they realize they're strangers after so many years or something like that, but that really doesn't appear to be the case
I'm glad A24 is making more films like this, I love their horror and experimental films but this kind is missing from cinema a little.
Most A24 films are dramas.

@@tamas_fims A24 is a distribution company originally, but it has been a production company as well since 2016. That's 7 years now. Moonlight was produced by them. However, this one (You Hurt My Feelings), is only being distributed by A24.

I'm such a fan of his but the American accent is going to take some getting past 😂
All I can think of when I see Tobias is Outlander and those scenes from season 1 in particular ugh. But he is an amazing actor and apparently a good human.

I know trailers will often not do the product justice: but this looks so boringly random and selfimportant, I could just as well listen to my friend's boring friends discuss their uneventful lives and it would be like this trailer. But then again I don't get Woody Allen so maybe I am just not the right crowd.

I love Nicole Holofcener movies. She depicts those little slices of life so accurately without being melodramatic and cringe. Walking and Talking will always be my favorite of hers.
She is truly gifted. There isn't one of her movies that I do not adore.

I AM SO TIRED of these movies about dissatisfied affluent folks. Yes, the intimacy issues of long term relationships looks on point and sweet but these folks have NOTHING to do with the kind of lives me and my friends and family have. These showrunners all think we live in a world where everyone earns 200K+ a year. SO TIRING.

Just saw this and loved it!. The writing and direction is great and the cast is excellent. Was great to be in a cinema hearing an audience of adults laughing at witty dialogue, at a time when it seems hard to find something that isn't a Marvel movie. And as much as l love comedy, I don't often actually laugh out loud at something, but the surprising dialogue and line deliveries throughout the movie kept catching me off guard and making me burst out laughing. Julia Louis-Dreyfus shows a deeper side of her talent here, going beyond her comedy skills and really bringing her character to life. British actor Tobias Menzies, who played Prince Philip in The Crown, is excellent as the husband. How are Brit actors so good at doing American accents that it never occurs to you they are British? And loved Jeannie Berlin as the annoying mother. Berlin makes the character real rather than just a sit-com type and her line deliveries are understated and hilarious. I know so many women like her. The audience applauded at the end, something that does not happen often in cinema screenings. Brava, Nicole Holofcener!

Calm down everyone, A24 is great but Nicole Holofcener has been making awesome movies just like this for over 25 years. How bout we give some credit to the person who made the film, not just the company who bought and distributed it.

I doubt it. She did another brilliant movie with this director and it went largely unnoticed. The Academy doesn't seem to notice Holofcener, despite her being one of the best American auteurs working, since the 90s.

The Rilo Kiley song in this trailer came out when I first moved to NYC. It’s kind of my New York theme song. The person who edited this trailer did not know that but I am very excited to see this movie anyway.

The fact that this is just a straight out comedy from A24, and people aren't going to be possessed or brutalized horribly, is the most jarring part of this trailer. Looks good though. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks.

I became a huge fan of Holofcener after Walking and Talking. Every film is fresh, funny, clever and surprisingly emotional. I also love her economy with story; she can get it done beautifully in 90 minutes or so, which is just how long most movies should be. I can't wait to see this 14 or 15 times.

I’d just like to see a movie about a woman over 35 who is not married and doesn’t have cancer or kids finding joy. The rest of us women would like a movie please. (I’m writing one now if anyone is interested). This movie about married couples has been done so many times. I do love Julie though ❤

Just watched it. Honestly the movie is not very good. Some characters do have charisma but the discussion the movie tries to work on, which is the small difference between lying and trying to be helpfull is not very interesting, it's actually kinda pointless.
I'm always suspicious when movie trailers add appraisal quotes in their trailers to further legitimise their product.
Comes off as try hard if anything else 🤷

Yay! I have been waiting for this to release for so long! I adore Tobias and he has so much range and versatility, I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around the American accent but he does it so well!
Now I have to go listen to Rilo Kiley.
