@@NeverDie853 You are welcome.
@@jenesismckenzie3309 You are welcome.
For fellow audacity users in 2020: Hard limiter is now "hidden" inside the "Limiter" effect.
Simply click "Limiter" and choose "Hard limit" from the drop-down menu (the default is soft limit). That's hard limiter for you. Now you just have to follow the instructions in the video
you saved me man
Thank you!
💓
I've been using a soft limiter, what's the main difference between hard and soft? Soft usually does the trick for me but today I had an audio track for a podcast to edit and there were huge differences between the peaks and the lows so the compressor wasn't doing what I needed to do, normally I deamplify the peaks until it's more even, then I compress and it works well, I wonder if it would be faster to hard limit first then compress
Thanks
Another tip that works really well..your missing three components for good quality. If you add compressor effect and click the box that says compress based on peaks then hit ok. Then add the equalization effect with the recommended settings then add the normalization effect with recommended settings your vocals will sound amazing trust me I record music and use audacity and it sounds almost exactly like studio quality vocals. Give it a try and lmk what you think.
i followed ur advice man, it worked well for my mixtape. so much more helpful than the video, thanks a lot
No problem man I'm glad it helped you feel free to check out my soundcloud at www.soundcloud.com/therealkillamc and if you need further help contact me at therealkillamc@gmail.com
ya ill check it out. Feel free to check mine out too soundcloud.com/kimani-brickhouse, i am dropping the mixtape tomorrow
Killa M.C I need your help bad I’m trying to start recording music and I just don’t even know where to begin to have good quality effects on my voice to sound professional as much as I can
Damn i tried it bro and that shit is way better. Easier to do and does the same job thanks man
Gverb has been replaced in audacity with REVERB, press this then click MANAGE then choose vocal 1 2 or small room etc for easy settings for beginners.
Thanks for the additional info!
Thank you! I was wondering where it was. :)
Thankyou very much brother
Please help out i can't see the reverb time, damping n all as mentioned in the video. I can see different options like pre delay, reverberance, damping, tone low, tone high, sterio width, wet gain, dry gain. Please guide what to mark there.
Why does your commentary audio sound worse than what your teaching?
+Tom Green Because I use OBS to record my audio and video at the same time. It would sound a lot better, if I used Audacity to record audio separately.
+Tutorials with GS
Why'd you make another account?
For UA-cam? I have multiple channels because I make many videos on a wide variety of subjects.
aye Tutorials with GS that was good! it helped KEEP MAKIN MORE VIDEOS! cheek my videos out sometimes ! have a nice day!
FLOW HUNNID Thanks for watching!

+Heisenn burgg Thank you, glad it helped.
"amidibly"
i heard that 2 CD
Ethan it's annoying me too lol
Ethan ha bro damn funny
Should be admittedly
IM EDIBILE E
am i the only one doesn't like the audio quality after he edited the audio? it doesn't sound clear and it's like he is blowing air through the microphone but hopefully those settings could help my audio on audacity hopefully
I think he was just too close to the mic.
theres only so much you can fix with a laptop mic
If he did 'Treble Boost' don't do that. It causes that, I lower the treble. In the 'Bass and Treble' section by -8.0db
That because it is horrible, he doesn't have a clue,
He has no idea what he is doing
Just my two cents...I applied the Limiter and the Amplifier AFTER I messed with Echo and Reverb. Reason being if you do that before, once you apply Echo and Reverb that messes with the equalization of the track and you will typically see the up and down come back as well as a overall harshness in the sound again. The sound is MUCH smoother if you do limiter and amplifier afterwards. Also, for the Amplifier, I only did about 0.4, because again, if you amplify it too much, it will end up sounding really harsh still. I have a naturally loud voice, but still, I think this works best, but of course every voice and every recording is going to be different. I am singing my own songs and typically I'm personally going to want a softer sound that doesn't sound harsh and will end up sounding smooth. So if that's what you're going for, I recommend you try it this way instead.
"Admittebly"
Good video btw!
This literally saved me from my disappointment from my sucky mic :D
Dude back away from the mic.. you're too close
Yeh he's choking on it
I GET PKLETTY PLUDDY EN PKLUKKY
He needs a pot filter
Kevin Reacts lol pop* filter
Jax Huntre
I believe he's talking about maryjuanna
That song was slick fire though.
nothing close to eminem in anyway though
You all probably dont give a damn but does anybody know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?
I somehow forgot the password. I would love any assistance you can give me.
@Jairo Melvin Instablaster =)
By putting the hard limiter on your track so high, you've already clipped the sounds pretty significantly. You'd probably be better off at a -3 or -4 db range, normalizing, and compressing.
All the haters, there is something called earphone 🎧 its effective when u sincerely wanna listen to something.. :) it takes efforts to create video.. Cant appreciate don't criticize..!
I have Reverb instead of Gverb in my Audacity and they have different names with a few name setting in common. What are the Settings PLEEEAAASE!!!!
Thanks
Thanks for this tutorial! It's real tough putting your singing voice out there but we're all learners here!
DO NOT use the hard limiter. Use a compressor instead. Results will be much better. Consider turning the input gain down, it looks to be clipping to begin with. You can amplify in post but can't remove clipping.
Why are you doing this at like 5:30 in the morning
rise and grind
I never thought I would be 65 years old and learn so much from a hip hop style singer, but I was wrong. Thank you for your help.
thanks! i worked out a lot. i have a good voice its just i dont like hearing it haha
Very useful guidance
which version is your audacity?
I'm not a recording engineer, but I thought the raw vocal sounded better before you used the hard limiter. I'd leave that step out if I was you. Made it sound like you were singing through a telephone receiver. The other stuff you did was good.
Really helpful! Thanks!
I'm glad it helped, you're welcome.
Gverb is not available in my version. what to do?
Instead of using the Hard Limiter couldn't you just use the normalize effect? It would be a little easier and the volume of the track would not be so low and you could hear it better! it also removes the need to amplify if you use the right settings
Should project rate be changed to 48000 since that's my recording and final render setting?
+World of MONSTERS Yes.
.1 and .2 for the echo is much better.
Thanks for the tip!
Oh my gosh, this tutorial was actually easy to understand. You took quite a long time explaining everything, but I could follow along with what you were saying. Thank you for the video.
+Frost687 No problem, I have plenty of other helpful Audacity tutorial and voice enhancement tutorials. Glad you enjoyed :)
What if you don’t have hard limiter as an option?
very valuable steps, makes a very big difference, my humble opinion: you must have used a normal mic for demonstration , that might have probably made few people skip right after hearing the first 5 seconds thinking its not enough while expecting a high end studio narrator results. so I say about this -to all of us- the hardware choice is the big chunk of the pie for a better results , the software enhancement is also essential but do not rise your expectations if using a low end mic.
i cant find Gverb i only have reverb what do i do????
well what made the biggest difference for me was the equalization. my version doesn't have the presets but still just drawing out from the explained low to high. echo helped a bit I messed with a leveler a bit so so. hard limit good
Glad you found it helpful!
whats some good options if u record music with audacity with a C0u1 usb mic?
very helpful. thank you very much.
MrEdgardo27 Does it work?
I just down loaded Audacity and I don't have G-verb or hard limiter. Do you know why that is? And amplify only lets me turn down.
+Jimmy E me too
+Anthony Perales-Cortez i dont even have limiter
My issue is that in the low dB areas it seams the Noise is Boosted(piano) any ideas? It seams like Audacity is boosting the noise for some strange reason.. the same noise is not present before or after then recording, so the noise itself is a lot lower
Where is the updated version for 2.1.2? A lot of these settings can't be found on my current version of Audacity.
My version of Audacity doesn't feature GVerb...the reverb menu has some different options from the gverb menu; what values should I use to match with your ideal GVerb settings?
Updated versions of Audacity don't have the Gverb effect. But, you can download it and then enable it in the settings. I'm sorry, I forgot the link where I downloaded it, but do a Google search.
its so helpfull and easy understandable the way you saying...thank you lots
Glad you enjoyed!
Hmm. Does this work for any song of my choosing? Original songs and covers? See, I've got a microphone with a pop filter and a mic isolation shield (which is surrounding the mic and pop filter on a dresser). I hope it works with my singing vocals for this program. 🙏
I get some robotic r2d2 type of sound after noise reduction in audacity when i record voice overs. Any one can help? Thanks!
That's the downside :(
Thank You very Much I will try out
how did you get the music only of the song? have you a site or a tool that can give my the music only without the singer voice so I could do like what you did here?
I use a photocamera to film my vids, but the audio is low (see my channel). Should I buy a microphone?
This has helped me so much with my future covers! Thank you!
+Nicole Read Glad you enjoyed!
THANKS!!! THE FIRST ONE THAT WORKS!!
The hard limiter at -7 makes my audio sound really really distorted lol.
My problem is actually pretty simple.. my vocals always sound unpolished. And by vocals I literally mean vocals. I bought a Blue Yeti because I thought those unclean sounds when I sing "a" etc came from my mic, but the problem persists. It just doesn't sound as smooth as in other covers I listen to. What can I do against it?
Really helpful. Thank you. Now with these little tricks I can somewhat enhance my vocals.
I don't have gverb neither reverb on my audacity. What should i choose? Tia
How would you fix the distortion ?
This is a really must see tutorial for youtubers. You go in depth about this process, which i did the same :D Keep the good work
Glad you found it helpful, thanks for watching!
does this work for instrumental recordings? like piano or violin?
Boost bass 2 times more than treble it will make it better and clearer and make their values something above 0.
he sounds like bill cosby when he raps....
which song in this?? its catchy
Archaic darude sandstorm
Thanks, it really helped.
Why does audacity make you have that robotic background noise ?? Is there a way to remove it. I create songs
I just would like to know why you put the beat on the program twice and the program I'm working with is studio 1
Rule of thumb for everyone, get a really good mic and setup. It makes all the difference, a good mic, condenser, room, and editing skills will go a long way. No don't get a snowball, they suck ass (I used to have one, returned it the next day). I have a Audio-Technica AT2050 I'm no professional, I'm an amateur voice actor on casting call.
thanks this is really helpful
Very helpful thank you
Thanks it helped alot
Why are u recording vocals in stereo? Should I do that too?
Great Video
your mic sensitivity is at like 90, turn it to 67%, and those are good tricks. you will get better results if you normalize to -0.5 db before hardlimiting. nowadays on the modren version its better to go into limiter and select hard limit, rather than enabling the hard limiter. normalizing between steps will also help alot. i like the echo thing you found tho. good lessons in here all in all but you need a pop filter haha you sound like herbert from family guy, no offence.
Tutorials with GS: your profile picture, is that you as a cartoon?? or just some random character?.well as for me not knowing nothing of how to do the tweaking in audacity, thank you for your tutorial
absolutely. one of the few videos i had to stop in between because it had such a bad audio quality. i didnt want to miss what you were saying, but then i thought how can i learn from a guy who himself has produced such bad audio. voice is muffled, words unclear. most of the times it appears one is muttering to oneself. real bad one.
good voice without the vocal enhancement
with great Gverb, comes great responsibility
THANKS FOR THE TUTORIAL.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed!
gr8 tips, could you please tell me what's the name of the music in the background? Thanks.
+warever37 It's from the UA-cam Audio Library.
I am having a latency correction problem that occurs when I try to record and monitor thru my audio interface... Do anybody have a solution?
oh my gosh thank you, this is the most helpful video i've seen so far... thank you!!! :))
how can I do a same effect by using reverb instead of GVerb?
and also do you recommend that I first normalize my track before I mix it?
THANK YOU! I'll make sure to credit you and your tutorial when I post my first cover. thanks again
+Elmer Santos Glad you found it helpful :)
Very clear, concise info. Thank you
Thank you so much !!!!
thank you so much it helped me a lot I love your tutorials
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed!
Thanks Man, Im doing this myself now. And This REALLY Helped Me! Thanks ever so much Buddy (and your background music helps my attention span too, :) Thanks)
+Jimmy SantAngelo Glad you enjoyed, and thanks for the feedback.
Tutorials with GS Youre welcome and thankyou once again
.Big help! Our music will be perfect for now on
Glad you found it helpful.
There isn't some functions one latest update now..or i can't find
Like hard limit, Gverb
Hi there
On Audacity now it has reverb instead of gverb and the controls are slightly different, what would be the settings on it?
Thanks
John
do you happen to have a tutorial to clean an audio, is basically a
recording with a lots of noise and I would like to isolate the voices , my audio was recorded with very bad microphone
Sure do, see the link below:
ua-cam.com/video/XClduWGEdq0/v-deo.html
It was a helpful video and there is no reason to dislike
Thank you GS, that was a great tutorial. I really learned something today from you. Thanks
hello,I just new in audacity,I want rap a song, but,my rap is not nice,is it audacity can made my rap better?
so helpful! thanks man
TheAdamSmasher Multiverse Does it work?
tasos theo
yeah but its no substitution for a good mic
When I use to record voice in drop of a trance and play, it cant be heard. Do you have any solution for that? And what is the function of 'GAIN' option ?
Good idea! but some time voice quality not better
If you really want to sound good you gotta get good tracks in the first place but even then theres a lot of processing profesionals do to make it sound perfect, if youre gonna scream into a really cheap mic then don't expect good results, unless thats what you want it to sound like LOL it was a good tutorial to show how to clean up a worst case scenario good job
Dude the hard clip distorts the heck out of it, probably should have mentioned that..
you have a nice relaxing voice!
Thank you.
This was very helpful thanks for this vid and your time.
Very detailed, great info. THANKS
Glad you enjoyed.
Thanks for the tutorial ..
